We loved staying at Chez Manon; eating out on the terrace, swimming in the warm pool situated so conveniently close to the house, admiring the views over the Luberon valley and the long red sunsets – and being look after by the superbe Arlette. We felt privileged to be living in your home and being able to borrow books, a pack of cards, toweling robes, laundry bags, hairdryers, and the multitude of excellent kitchen you provided for us. We were really sad to leave. We thoroughly recommend lunch “sur la terrasse” at the Presbytere in Saignon (10 minutes drive – details in the restaurant file.) Also, fun is lunch at “Solveig’s” little café immediately opposite. She has a small terrasse and serves excellent omelettes provencales. And we loved visiting Roussillon (25 minutes from Chez Manon), Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux – all stunning hilltop villages.

What a wonderful week at Chez Manon with great friends. Chez Manon surpassed all expectations! Every piece in the house is gorgeous and the kitchen with all of its accessories is like no other! We enjoyed daily the patio under the trellis with wine, bread, cheese, spreads, etc. After daily travels, we loved coming home and enjoying the late afternoon time with the beautiful views – and it did feel like home. We are sad to leave and would love to return someday. Thank you for designing a beautiful home furnished meticulously and opening it up for guests to enjoy. We loved every minute.

I stayed here for a week for my 60th birthday. My sister Doris, her husband Peter, my sister Eva, my daughter Joey and Rocket. What a wonderful, comfortable home and so relaxing. Thank you Arlette for making sure we were comfortable. We were all Australians who flew in from all over Europe. The house was a gift to me for my 60th given to me by my partner Fan. Thank you.

Excerpts from the Guest Book at Chez Manon
Our friend Nancy used part of her unexpected windfall to rent Chez Manon and invited five of us to join her. It was a fantastic gift. We shared wine, food and sight-seeing. It was a terrific area to visit and a wonderful home to return to each evening. Although the tour books don’t say much, we recommend a trip to Lacoste. The Chateau is a ruin but makes great pictures and the views of the Luberon Valley are among the best. Thank you for a great kitchen, so comfortable that we had a hard time getting out the door before noon! We wandered around Apt several times and established our favorite boulangerie, visited a charcuterie/boucherie, ate at the Le Chat qui Peche and Bar Gregoire, and shopped almost every day at Intermarche. Everyone in Apt was friendly and helpful. Everyone in our group enjoyed Provence.

Hello Pam. I want to send this brief message to tell you that we had a near-perfect stay at Chez Manon. (I suppose the only blot was a broken coffee pot, which was a pretty minor thing.) Everything lived up to or exceeded our expectations. The villa is beautiful, very well maintained and in a wonderful setting. Arlette was very helpful and cheerfully welcomed us. I was surprised to find that Apt is a wonderful town too. It was a nice walk from the villa with a lovely older section. Its size allowed for all of our needs. And needless to say, the Luberon is a beautiful area.
But I think the highlight of our stay was Sunday with Alina, Anette and Allie. It was truly fun for all of us. And they are wonderful cooks. Thanks very much for getting me in touch with them. Please feel free to use me for a reference if you want.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,

Our stay here was beyond any of our expectations. As we walked in and were shown around, each room was more spectacular than the previous one. The general opinion was that we had died and were in heaven. Our week went too fast, with daily markets in the hill towns, excursions to the Camargue, Marseille, Arles, and Pont du Gard. In the evenings we gathered for leisurely, lengthy dinners in the setting sun. (The sun sets around 9.30pm!) The pool was wonderful. Arlette was so helpful and available. We hated to leave! Thanks for the wonderful vacation.

Dear Laurie, Well, it only took us 10 years to get here but the wait was more than worth it. Chez Manon exceeded all of our expectations in every way. Your home is more than wonderful. Beautiful. More than fully equipped. Comfortable and inviting. The seven of us spent our days sightseeing, eating and drinking, and perhaps our most memorable day was the afternoon spent poolside with our group. I would have loved to find an album of the history in pictures of the work you have done here on the property. Anyway, thank you, for this most wonderful holiday. Despite the heat wave that greeted us on arrival, our stay at Chez Manon was a great success. The pool was a life-saver during the heat, and the house worked its wonders. We enjoyed lots of pleasant day-trips, and made frequent use of the well-equipped kitchen. The only sour note was when 12 bottles of excellent Gigondas wine, checked as luggage on a Lyon-Paris flight, failed to arrive in New York (Air France claims the bottles were broken.) We could only handle 6 bottles among our carry-aboard stuff, and they didn't break, thank goodness. The other 44 bottles we bought during our wine-tastings in the Gigondas/ Vacqueras/ Cairanne area were all enjoyed at Chez Manon or given to friends in Montpellier and Helsingborg. Best Regards, Lee Miller July 2003.

We have had a fantastic week in your wonderful barn. The views towards the Luberon are magnifique! The kitchen was a great focus for us all: moules, monkfish, couscous, etc. We sadly have not had the benefit of Arlette, but maybe next time. Mother's viewpoint: "Our children had a thoroughly provencal experience. Great food, wonderul excursions and a brilliant time in the pool (where 2 x 4 year olds developed their swimming.) Could have benefitted from a high chair and potty for our youngest member but, otherwise, we found everything we required. It's hard to believe that we are "back to normal" here at home. Thank you for all your help in preparing us for our stay at Chez Manon. What a wonderful stay we had! The house was more than we could have ever imagined and the area fulfilled every dream about Luberon. All four couples had a wonderful time exploring the area and enjoying the house. We now have a very special place in our hearts for Provence and, in particular, for Chez Manon! Our only glitch upon arrival was when we took the wrong turn and missed the house and we were lost for about an hour until a friendly neighbor called Arlette and she came and rescued us. Arlette mentionned, much to our chagrin, that it was the first time in four years someone got lost trying to find the house! Oh well, we survived! Thanks again for everything. Our foursome enjoyed a return visit to the magical land of Provence. Mother nature cooperated, providing us with glorious weather to tour the perched villages we talk endlessly about to friends at home in Canada. Highlights included the markets of St Remy and Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, touring art galleries in Bonnieux and Rousillon, visiting Roman ruins in Vaison-la-Romaine and a particular highlighttaking on local Apt residents, Paco and Marc at "Boullee!" Chez Manon is such a welcoming house. Thanks for sharing it with those of us who treasure our time in Provnece. Cathy & Jim Reid July 6-13, 2002

How do we begin to thank you for an experience that has filled the soul and delighted the senses? To the owners, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every day and every town is a highlite. One of our perfect days began with a visit to the market at Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Vendors line the street and you can purchase your lunch for a picnic not far from this town called Fontaine de Vaucluse. Be sure to buy a fresh baguette, tomatoes, cheese, olives and tapenade. Add a bottle or two of the local wine. The combination of tastes and textures will make your taste buds sing. Fontaine de Vaucluse is a small town: 580 people. The Sorgue river runs along one side and a fresh green pool awaits you under a rock cliff. The air is fresh and beautiful. Linger awhile and let the imagination soar. Later that day, dinner is in an tiny town called Buoux not more than 4 km from here. You will be delighted by the lavender fields and the views that go on forever. Dinner was at Auberge de la Loube. Don't forget to visit Saignon. Those are the ruins to the right of this terrace. Everything is so close it makes day trips easy to plan. Thank you for an amazing vacation. Just a footnote: If you visit the fort at Buoux ("bewks"), be sure to have good shoes for walking and hiking and bring water if it's a hot day. On Wednesday morning, visit the market at St. Remy, buy picnic food, then head west from St. Remy take D27a left turn, climb the hill at the very west of the hill make a left turn, to the picnic area. Spread your tablecloth over a rock, dangle your feet over the edge and enjoy the magnificent view of Les Baux! The drive to Mont Ventoux is worth it. There is also a beautiful drive west of Sault through a gorge. If you visit Vaison-la-Romaine, there is an English tea at 11:00 on Monday and Thursday. On a pleasant day, consider driving to St. Raphael on the "Med." Camp out on chairs and umbrellas at your seaside restaurant of choice, and enjoy the day of sun, food and relaxation. On our second trip to Provence, we still consider Avignon and St Remy worthy visits. We ate "in" in the latter half of the week and used this wonderful home to its potential. We were here with the previous writers, Reids, Emersons, Knoxs, and had a wonderful vacation. Our three nights of "neuf heures" boule ball tournements with Paco and Marc was a wonderful experience and after the last night, they insisted on taking us across the street for a drink. We, in our halting French, and only Marc, in his halting English, told each other much of our countries, and shared a memory that will long be with us. Gary & Julia Sarazin

Comments sheet to one of our reservations agents: Beautiful views, great area for morning walks, close to Apt. Arlette cleaned and interacted with us. She is excellent. Also, Pam Johnston got a cab for our girls to Avignon. More than sufficient. The comparison to our place from 7-14-01 to 7-28-01 was like night and day. "What did you especially like about this property?" Layout, décor, cleanliness, proximity to town (Apt) and other interesting sights. Outdoor clotheslines a big hit! Just a quick note to tell you what a wonderful two weeks we spent at Chez Manon. It was just exactly as you'd billed, and it really couldn't have been more perfect. Arlette was delightful and such a big help the couple of minor problems we experienced she managed to clear up almost instantly, and she was friendly and patient with my French throughout! Thank you for two truly remarkable weeks in Provence. We were two multi-generational families: one from Dallas, Texas, the other from Spokane, Washington, and, while we'd vacationed successfully together, we never dreamed we'd vacation so successfully, so luxuriously! The house was perfect more than we could have imagined. Arlette was charming and hugely helpful, and Chez Manon and Apt were ideal "home base" for our wonderful junkets through this beautiful region. Already we're plotting our next 2-family vacation in sunny Provence! Thanks again to all of you, and to the wonderful Pam Hall-Johnston as well. Pam, Steve, Catherine & Claire. Bonjour! We pulled together two parts of our family here in Provence one from Annapolis, Maryland, USA and the other (temporarily) from Beijing, China. Chez Manon is a great house with everything you could need for a fantastic vacation. We look forward to returning to Provence and enjoying more memories of Apt and the villages of the Luberon. Thanks for everything. Eric, Yosiko, Kay, Andrew, John, Karen & Corinne. 29 April 12 May 2001.

We are two families 9 in all and have had a wonderful Christmas in Provence. We came from the hot weather of Sydney, Australia, to Paris in the winter. We drove south to this beautiful spot and have spent the week eating, drinking, laughing, dancing, and sightseeing. We look forward to returning here in warmer weather and seeing the countryside in bloom! The house itself is a delight plenty of room for a big group and a kitchen with everything one needs for a great meal. We really appreciated Arlette's friendly help and wished we could have spoken to her easily. Thanks again for a terrific place to have a holiday. Dee, Pete, Duncan, Marcus & Adam. Meg, John, Samantha, and Mike. 22-30 December 2000

Hello The house was wonderful - more than I expected. We were friends who loved to cook, to eat, to sing, to visit the small villages, to sing to the music and to drink the wine .Thank you. Juanita & David. Sept 23-30, 2000.

C'est magnifique. From the rooster waking us in the morning to the quiet (?) dinners on the terrace, we enjoyed it all. The mountains are beautiful and villages charming. It was a wonderful week. Pat & Alan Graham. Sept 23-30, 2000

Forwarded from Just France agency: We have just returned from our two glorious weeks in France, and I wanted to write to thank you for all your assistance and help! I know you had to do some scurrying around to make everything work out for us on rather short notice, and I truly appreciate that. We thoroughly enjoyed La Ferme Bonnefoy (Chez Manon). It was a great house for the 6 of us with nice bedrooms great beds! and ample baths so everyone had plenty of "space." The terrace outside does have beautiful views and one night, while I was sitting out there kind of late (waiting for the washing machine to finish!!), a herd of wild pigs started rooting around in the orchard below. So there is interesting wildlife around. We also made friends with the little donkey who lived right up the road and could be heard braying each morning if breakfast was late! He liked carrots!
