Absolutely charming, large, amazing casa with stunning views. So quiet and private you could not see or hear anyone the entire stay. I highly recommend it i stayed for 3 weeks in May 09 and loved it!

We can't wait to return!! This was the perfect vacation for us. We had considered one of the hotels and are very glad we stayed here. The caretakers absolutely made everything seamless. Having limited spanish skills, we were concerned about logistics. No problem! In fact, Felipe aranged fishing for us, we invited them for dinner to enjoy the catch, and they brought the best ceviche ever! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fabulous view & total privacy. We thought we would want to be closer to the small town but glad we were not. Only thing you need is a headlamp at night for the billygoat trail! Enjoy!

We enjoyed a very, very, very pleasant and restful four nights at Casa Coco with our boys, ages 12 and 15. We hope we can return again soon!

Yelapa and the Coca Cabana were a welcome and relaxing break from Puerto Vallarta. The casa is very clean with more amenities than we ever imagined. Considering everything had to be hand carried into this lovely place, from each brick to build this newer casa, to the corkscrew to open the wine you can purchase at one of the tiendas in town, we were pleasantly surprised. The property is abundant with vegetation and nicely landscaped. The wildlife is abundant in this lush ecosystem, from parrots that like to party each dawn, to the spiders that begin their dance at dusk. It is a bit of a hike getting in, but well worth it!

The locals were all very friendly, and Felipe and Yanet are wonderful caretakers! Take the time to hike up to the upper falls on Rio Tuito. It takes a couple hours tot get there, but a nice hike and fabulous swimming hole below the best natural ‘super-jetted’ jacuzzi we’ve ever found waiting when you get there.

Hope to make it back again soon, thanks for sharing Richard and Nathalie

What a spectacular place to stay! Cocoa Cabana felt like our own, private resort. We loved getting up in the morning to the caucophany of birds, throwing open the shutters, and enjoying coffe in the upstairs rocking chairs overlooking the bay, or lounging on the terrace. We quickly settled into a comfortable routine of going into town late morning to pick up some daily food supplies, enjoying some of the sights of town, then retreating back to the cabana for relaxation, reading, and siestas. Happy hours led to a meander along the path back into town for dinner. Although the kitchen is well equipped, we found dinners in town were very tasty and reasonably priced.

Having never been to Yelapa, Nathalie provided detailed information for us via email and answered all our questions, proving very helpful. Just as an FYI, be prepared to see some very large spiders hanging out, usually in the bathrooms. Though I am not afraid of spiders, the first time I saw one I was startled just due to their size. But, they are hamless and usually just hang out.

I would highly recommend Coco Cabana if you want a private, beautiful, quiet and peaceful experience. We will definately be going back!

We had the best vacation EVER!
Loved the view, house, seeing whales, and all the wonderful food in town. Can't wait to go back.

From the time the water taxi dropped us off at Playa Isabel, we knew we were in for an amazing experience at Casa Coco. From the gorgeous view of the bay - where we were treated to a "performance" by a group of whales one evening - to the surrounding sounds of nature, everything was wonderful at Casa Coco. We appreciated Felipe's assistance, and one evening Yanet prepared a delightful dinner for us (which provided enough food for two meals). Thank you, Richard and Nathalie, for sharing your lovely tropical home.

What a magic spot! The setting was just spectacular - gorgeous views, lots of birds, lovely landscaping. The house is very open and spacious and beautifully decorated. We enjoy cooking so the kitchen was perfect - large and well equipped. Felipe and Janet were very helpful. This is a perfect place for a secluded retreat, which is just what we were looking for!

Our stay at CocoCabana was THE BEST. We
booked this house based on what we saw on the
website. What we found in reality was even better!!
The views are spectacular. The architecture,
beautiful original Mexican décor and color scheme is
stunningly beautiful. Elegantly appointed original
Mexican style.
The kitchen is well equiped, although on vacation, it
is so inviting, you want to cook.
We were on our honeymoon and this place is
romantic!!
Thank you to Felipe, who took care of all of our
needs. We highly recommend CocoCabana, a first
class place.
We had a fantastic time

relying on the web site and our communications w/
Richard and Nathalie, we planned and dreamed
about our stay at Casa Coco for more than 6
months - but tried not to get our hopes up so we
wouldn't be disappointed -
it was even better than we imagined!!
the house is solid but roomy and airy - filled w/
heavily carved wooden furniture, many comfortable
chaises, primitive art pieces in every nook, and is
painted in brilliant colors that make you smile - the
views of the Bay are lovely and unobstructed - from
the patio we saw whales 5 out of our 7 days there -
as well as para-sailors, little fishing pangas,
sailboats, & pelicans - a large loud flock of small
parrots flew over every morning - and we saw lots
of other birds we didn't recognize - the
landscaping is a mixture of nice old trees and
younger ornamentals - there were a number of
things blooming while we were there- we picked
fresh limes every day (using a picker fashioned
from a bamboo pole, a baseball cap w/ a stiff brim,
and duct tape) - the gorgeous surroundings, 6
burner stove, new refrigerator, fully equipped
kitchen, and surprisingly well stocked stores in
town, were conducive to memorable breakfasts,
"happy hours", and a couple of dinners at home -
we were there in December so had no mosquitoes
or other biting bugs - and the only noises up there
were birds - we were 4 adults, an 11 and a 14 yr
old - so really appreciated the little surprise extra's,
like the cabinet full of games and books on
Mexican architecture, and the trunk upstairs of
books and puzzles - the washer and dryer were a
godsend b/c some of our luggage was stolen in
New York - a number of people told us we had the
nicest house in Yelapa - and we think they were
right -
a couple of tips if you are thinking of trying Casa
Coco - a little Spanish is needed to communicate
w/ Felipe - phrases like "where is the working
telephone?", "please come and get the garbage",
and "we need a new bottle of drinking water" are
useful (some Spanish is also helpful to locate the
the money changer & specific restaurants in town -
the ladies at the Bahia Cafe by the pier are
American and will help you - they also sell a nice
hand drawn map of the town) you need to be in
decent physical shape to make the hike to and from
town and to climb the 99 steps to the Casa - bring
flashlights and something warm for the evenings -
it goes down to 60 and all of the restaurants, and
communal living spaces at Casa Coco, are open -
and you need to be able to relax and to enjoy the
unexpected - like the iguana who lives in the
rafters and keeps the bug population down - we
had a wonderful time and took hundreds of photos
- my 11 yr old nephew, who has traveled since he
was 8 months old, declared our time at Casa Coco
"the best vacation he has ever had"

Dear Richard & Nathalie,
Wow!! Both my husband and I would like to extend our thanks as well as our comments on how wonderful our trip was. Casa Coco Cabana was fabulous! We went down to Yelapa to celebrate our 10th anniversary and to have a vacation away from hectic everyday life while avoiding high tourist areas. This trip and our stay at your beautiful home fulfilled both. Relaxing as well as active. We both enjoy hiking the mountains of Colorado so we were very excited about tromping around in the Mexican Jungle. The ecosystem there is so impressive and vast. The hikes to both waterfalls were spectacular!! A must!!!
Such great weather during the day with evening down pours- which from the bird's eye view from Coco Cabana, were spectacular!! Watching the rain move in from Puerto Vallarta across the bay was amazing.
Everything was great- Felipe was very helpful and the house exceeded our expectations.
Thanks for everything,

This was our first trip to Yelapa. Casa Coco was a
fabulous escape from the world. It is remote in the
sense that one is "away from it all" and yet the
place offers everything that you really need. We
loved the indoor/outdoor design of it. Someone
else mentioned the stairs "not being for the faint of
heart". Because of that, we were expecting it- and
appreciated the 'heads up'. After seeing some of
the other places we had looked at online, we were
glad that we were off of the main trail.
Felipe was a great help and wonderful tour guide to
the Marietta Islands. If you want to go without the
masses of humanity that often pile on to the
organized tour boats, this is definitely the way to
go! He will take you out fishing as well.

I just want to thank you for the wonderful stay we
enjoyed at Casa Coco. We left a day early due to a
change in plans. We wanted to be sure and tell you
what a wonderful job Felipe did while we were there.
He was most attentive to our needs- making sure
everything was all right, the trip to the Marietta
Islands- he went above and beyond in seeing that
everything was as it should be. We were afraid that he
misunderstood (due to the communication barrier) as to
why we were leaving a day early.
We had a wonderful time- Please thank him for us when
you can. We would love to come back again.

Sincerely,

Andrea

My wife and I just spent a week at Casa Coco. Definately the nicest house I have ever rented in Mexico. The amenities were great and having ice in Mexico was a big plus. The view is one of the better ones I have had. I would recommend a hammock or two but the patio furniture works well too. Should I return to Yelapa, there is no doubt in my mind where I would lodge. Thanks, Richard, Felipe, and Yanet for a wonderful vacation.

Hi Richard and Nathalie,
Just wanted to let you know we had a delightful stay at Coco Cabana.
It is a great location in Yelapa. The view is fantastic and we enjoyed a few
brilliant lightning shows while we were there. It also gave us a workout getting up and down the hill, but left us guiltless for any food and drink we ate that day including the pie from the lady on the beach and a few bebidas.

All and all a wonderful stay. We will keep it in mind for a future getaway.
Thanks,
Michele

We just returned from a 2 night stay in Coco
Cabana. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary
and had a wonderful time. Felipe was helpful both
getting there and leaving. The water taxi station in
PV was good but leaving Yelapa was confusing. We
hired Felipe to take us to Boca. He wanted to
charge us $80, then $70, then remembered he was
going there anyway and we could just tip him. We
paid $20 for the boat ride and taking us somewhere
in his truck, which is what we would have spent
anyway on a water taxi and car taxi to get where we
were going. You need to know at least basic
Spanish or it would be very difficult to communicate
with Felipe. Yanet cooked us a meal on the night of
our anniversary and although we did enjoy the
quiet private meal, it was quite expensive by
Mexican standards. When I agreed to it, I didn't
realize that the food was not included in the $40 so
we ended up paying for things like a whole bottle of
olive oil for her to use 1 Tablespoon. The food
tasted good and we were able to save the leftovers
and reheat them for lunch the next day, but $55 is
expensive when you can get tacos for 80¢ in town.
And I was expecting dessert and maybe appetizer
but did not get either. She made chicken breasts,
pinto beans, rice, cooked carrots and had tortillas,
pico de gallo and guacamole. Also be prepared for
bugs. I am sensitve to bug bites and we tried to
keep the lights off as much as possible at night.
And a bat tried to get in the door and gave us quite
a surprise. The website was upfront about the
safety aspect and we are glad we did not bring our
4 year old daughter because she would have
complained about the hike up the hill and the stairs
and open air windows were not safe for children.
Overall our stay was fantastic and we were not
ready to leave. It was very tranquil and private. We
enjoyed watching and listening to the many birds,
butterflies, lizards and other creatures. Thanks for
a great vacation!

There is no better place to cure from a stressfull European life plus a serious jetlag in a fraction of time than Casa Coco. Surrounded by a true mexican natural pacific environment our young family had the desired paste of life back in no time. Fishing with Felipe, the "Ceviche" of Janet and the friendly contacts with all the other Yelapa people made the stay un-forgetable. As allways too short.

We just returned from 7 days in Yelapa and none of us can get over how lucky we feel to have stayed at Casa Coco. It was far more beautiful than we anticipated, and my only complaint is that I dont live in your magnificent home year round! Waking up in the morning and gazing out at the sea is good medicine for the weary soul, as is sitting on the front patio drinking a cerveza and watching the dolphins leap in the bay.
The trail to the house is not for the faint of heart, but the view is beyond worth it. We will definetely be back soon, and cant say enough good things about Casa Coco.

Hola Richard,
Ed and I stayed at Casa Coco at the beginning of February. Although I had sent a little list of some things about Casa Coco, I wanted to let you know that we truly loved our stay there. Casa Coco and Casa Cococabana are truly two of the nicest places to possibly stay in Yelapa. We both know that our experience of Yelapa would have been much different had we stayed at the newer highrise hotel or somewhere in town.
Many thanks, Richard,
Nancy

Comment Text: I stayed at Casa Coco for 10 days and had one of the most memorable vacations. The views are spectacular, so is the house! The owners couln't be nicer and accommodating. I have traveled a lot, but this one stands out in every aspect. Sipping my coffee in the morning on the terrace and watching the dolphins jump and hear and see the waves of the ocean was just so beautiful and heavenly!
I will return many more times. What a treat! Thanks and thanks again.
