Wonderful stay at Dalwhinnie! We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a house on the beach in an ideal location (near point but also 5 minutes from the market). The house is just as gorgeous as the photos show. We loved having the internet and access to house games and bikes.
The most wonderful feature is the second floor big room that includes the kitchen - bar - and living area. The views out of the big windows and off the 2 decks are amazing. What a fabulous place to relax! Also, calling all cooks! The kitchen is stocked with an array of utensils and small appliances that will make the cooking experience much easier. The family cook also feels part of the gang due to the open room feel.
The owner is delightful and made our lives much easier by providing instructions for our stay. We felt like she was looking out for us. It was nice.
We highly recommend! |

I rented Dalwhinnie for a surprise getaway for my wife's 40th birthday. Three other couples joined us, and it was a GREAT trip. The cottage is all that it was advertised to be -- very inviting w/ great layout and views of the ocean, and easy beach access. The Shoals Club just down the road offered great amenities as well. The island is a wonderful place. The owners were a pleasure with which to work. We'll definitely be back.

We have been to BHI several times over the last several years and have never found a home or landlord as accomodating as you and your home.

My wife and I were fortunate to have both sets of parents spend a week with us in the Dalwhinnie and it was fantastic. The house is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach. We couldn't have been happier! It truly feels like a home away from home.

Words cannot describe how wonderful our week was at Dalwhinnie. Your home is just beautiful and every amenity was well thought out and just perfect. BHI is a special place and one that I hope we can return to for many years to come. We did not end up using the Shoals Club as your beach is just too beautiful to leave. Thank you soooo much for all of your assistance making our first trip one that we will never forget. Please stay in touch.

What a delightful place is Dalwhinnie Cottage! It is obvious that the owners of this well-cared for beach-front home have made every effort to predict the needs of their guests as we relax and unwind into the gifts of Bald Head Island. Dalwhinnie is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and comfortable, sometimes a difficult combination to achieve in a beach house. The island itself is brimming with opportunities to be in and about nature. We saw dolphin from the house deck, osprey building their nests and a formation of pelicans headed out for a day of fishing. Our vacation at Dalwhinnie is at the top of my list!

I recently came back from a girls weekend and we had a great time. The house was wonderful and the views were fabulous. All 6 of us felt that the house was wonderfully decorated and felt like home. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. We all said we'd come back to Dalwhinnie Cottage!

A lovely home with every comfort, this is a heavenly place. Located on an island that has not succumbed to commercialism, it is the perfect getaway. When things get hectic I continually go back there in my mind.

Dalwhinnie Cottage is a beautiful house on a beautiful island. My husband and I were married on the island and keep coming back to Dalwhinne again and again. The views are fantastic. You can wake up with a cup of coffee in the morning and sit on one of the decks, enjoying the waves and the sea breeze without even getting out of your pajamas! The beaches are not crowded either. You can set up an umbrella and spend the day swimming, looking for sea shells, playing beach games, or building sandcastles without interference. There are also nature hikes around the island through the maritime forest, biking around the island, golf, kayaking/canoeing in the marsh or just exploring the island in the golf cart. The set up of Dalwhinnie is wonderful too. The 2nd floor kitchen/dining room/living room combination with windows all the way around allow you to spend your time inside enjoying the views as well. Even the thunderstorms are breathtaking! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and relaxing get away!

Standing at the expansive 2d story living room windows, enjoying the early morning view of the water, I was surprised by a flock of pelicans, who cruised so near the windows, I felt I could have touched them! The serenity and views allow the mind to imagine and wonder. Thanks for opening your beautiful home for tranquil and refreshing visits!
