I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at the farmhouse. The weather wasn't the greatest but, as some commenters have noted, I would have been perfectly comfortable just staying in and enjoying the house.
The house is meticulously clean and well maintained, very comfortable and has everything you may need. The neighbors are very friendly and helpful if needed, but will also stay out of your way if you'd rather. I didn't meet Georgie the cat but hope to next time.
Finally, given the quality of the property, the rate is very reasonable. Highly recommended. |

We stayed at the farmhouse this Labor Day weekend. It was the perfect place to "get away from it all" and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The house was so charming and cozy that we were constantly torn between staying “home” and exploring the beautiful countryside. It was very well furnished and had practically all we needed to enjoy the place – from lawn chairs to flashlights… even fresh eggs waiting for us in the refrigerator upon our arrival. The house was very tastefully decorated – cozy but not cutesy. Didn’t have to worry about our 7 and 9-year-old children breaking anything either (unlike in many country B and B’s). On our first day we got an impromptu tour of the chicken house from our host, Scott. The Jensens who live next door will leave you alone if you prefer, but are a lovely and interesting family to get to know (had a wonderful evening roasting marshmallows with them at the back yard fire pit, learning about life in Hobart). Our children spent many hours playing with their very friendly cat, Georgie.
The house has prime access to the Catskill Scenic Trail. We biked the easy, essentially flat trail to Hobart on our first day to explore the bookstores. The trail is well maintained and goes through pastoral countryside. We met all but two people along the 2- mile trek (but many cows, horses and llamas). Our favorite bookstore however was Bibliobarn, two miles west of the farmhouse in the village of South Kortright. Book-lovers will need to plan on spending at least a few hours there. The farmhouse was also a good starting point to explore Howe Caverns - about a 45 min drive through breath-taking Schoharie valley. Needless to say, we had a great time and hope to be back soon.

My entire family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. The house was neat, tidy and very well maintained. There was plenty to do within a thirty mile or less radius from the home. We stayed there for eight days and were never bored. Eleanor and Scott and family were very hospitable and our kids loved it. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our vacation. - The Crugnale Family, Long Island |

| we had a fantastic stay at the farmhouse!!! it was a 4 hour drive from new york and a little difficult to find but once we arrived it was everything we imagined. there was lots of different activities in the area and on the property to keep you content. the only negative was the attic bedroom. the room itself was nice but it was in an unfinished attic. |

| Thank you for the lovely place to stay! The farm house is very nice, comfortable, and super clean. And Georgie is soooo friendly we wanted to take her home with us! The trail access is top notch. The walk from the farmhouse to Stamford is a great afternoon 12-mile stroll, with llamas, horses, lots of birds, cattle, etc. to see. Thanks again! |

You can't get better than this. If you want to relax and enjoy some times gone by, this is the place to stay. My husband and I celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary and this was such a perfect place to get away. We found the house cleaner than clean with all the conveniences of home. It was so much fun cooking on the old 1926 cooking stove and it made the house so cozy. It really is a beautiful location amid the catskills. Everyone in the family was so kind and helpful and made our trip very relaxing. We enjoyed walking into town on the rail trail, loved the farm, visited with Lucky the rooster and his hens and also Georgie, the cat who was very friendly. From watching the sunset on the hill across the street to gazing at the stars on the hill behind the house it really was breathtaking and a place everyone should come visit. |

Six of us stayed at the Rich Country Farmhouse on Memorial Day Weekend 2008. It was the perfect weekend! The house is immaculate, the views are amazing, and Scott and Eleanor were so helpful.
It's a great way to recharge away from the city. I would definitely go back again... |

Hobart, Catskill mountains.
We found it though through Internet. After we spotted the place we contacted the owners Barb and Rich. Their response to our request was so hospitable and kind that we decided to go there. It was around Christmas. When we arrived we appeared to have a stylish and atmospheric tree in the living room. It was such a cosy cottage, or farmhouse.
In every way it was beyond what we expected. The interior of the house appeared to be in everyway comfortable.
Upon arrival we saw the house was covered with snow, a beautiful place in a winterish environment. After Al Gore winters have become scarce in the Netherlands, so all the more happy we were to have one in New York state.
We arrived late at night and were not aware of what we might expect. The first day we decided to explore the railroad track behind the house, a former railroad offering a wonderful opportunity to make long distance walks. Snow everywhere and a wonderful white world. The next day the snow rapidly melted, but the beauty of the environment remained unspoilt. We walked long distances along roads in the vicinity. The house offers much comfort. It has a great kitchen with opportunities to cook in either traditional ways on a wonderful stove, or in a highly sophisticated modern natural gas stove.
The rooms are decorated and furnished in a way you would like your own house to be like. In the middle of a traditional environment you experience the comfort of the 21st century.
The animals we met ( the chicken and Georgie, the cat) showed a paradise like coexistence. Eleanor and Scott, our neighbours, were stand by to support us whenever things would be not the way we had expected. Price-wise, hospitality-wise, opportunity-wise, whatever-wise, we recommend this place. Catskill Mountains and Hobart offered us a memorable experience.

The perfect stay! Very clean and cosy house in the middle of nature. We loved the cosy sofas, the comfortable beds, the ready to cook kitchen and even did a barbecue in the fresh winter afternoon. Everything was handy and well kept. We will definitively be back. |

My stay was for New Year's Eve weekend. This house is beautiful, nicely decorated. So quiet, it took me a night to get use to it, being I'm from a city. Would have loved to use the fire pit but it snowed. (Great for skiing bad for fire making) The wooden stove is such a great part of this house. I will admit my boyfriend made the fire alarm go off a couple of times. Once he got the hang of it there was no problem.
The main floor rooms were cozy. I liked that the attic bedroom was so secluded. If it were more then two of us, I would have picked that as our bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils and lots of little extras.
The care takers of the home are right next door but they gave us our privacy. They did help out with lots of information on events going on in town. It is more of a summer town so not much to do in the winter other then ski but they were very helpful.
I would definitely recommend this house for a vacation. You really won’t be disappointed. |

I stayed at the cottage with an old friend after having been in Manhattan for a week; and it was a wonderful contrast! We weren't sure how warm the cottage might be; but on the second day it was -20C and we were perfectly cosy inside! The cottage is kitted out with everything you could need; lots of kitchenware, towels, clothes washing facilites...it's a home from home. Apart from exploring the Catskills, we had two days of skiing at Hunter, which was really fun. There are several other ski areas nearby, but I was recommended Hunter before leaving; it is about 45 easy drive away. Also; we were impressed with how well the roads are cleared of ice/snow....we had no problems getting about. Thanks for a really lovely stay! |

It was wonderful to stay this farmhouse. We enjoyed very much and we love the wood burning oven! The house built in mid 19th century is cozy and beautifully renovated. Mr. Jensen gave us tour at chicken farm and it was very interesting and kind. This is the best place to have quiet retreat. |

| Myself and a friend went to the farmhouse to write and it was just lovely - so quiet and relaxing. Nicely fitted out kitchen and bathroom with all the supplies you'd need (and the decor has a very country feel). A decent supermarket nearby plus very close to the catskills. Really friendly people to deal with - very communicative and helpful. Thanks again! |

| My husband and I, along with our family dog, stayed in this LOVELY home in the beginning of March this year. What a wonderful vacation home this truly is! If you are looking for a respite from everyday life-this is it!!! The home itself is gorgeous. The owners have thought of everything, we did not have to lug a coffee maker, kitchen utensils or linens. Upon our arrival, a dozen eggs that were gathered in the morning were waiting in our refrigerator. The bed was extremely comfortable and the living room is great for a nap on the couch while watching a movie. Excellent pizza and a large grocery store are a 5 minute drive away. Not only is the Catskill Scenic Trail fabulous for running, walking and throwing the dog a Frisbee but it is literally in the backyard! The owners were a pleasure to correspond with and also to meet, and available in case of questions. A fabulous time was had by all...we cannot wait to return! |

Last August I spent four wonderful relaxing days at the "Little House" in Hobart. I very much enjoyed my stay and hope to go again. I enjoyed breakfast every day in "downtown" Hobart. I went to two really great country fairs, The Sunshine Fair in Cobleskill and the Delaware County Fair. I enjoyed lunch at the famous Brook's House of Bar-B-Q and visited an old friend on her dairy farm. I highly recommend a visit for one such as myself who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. It is an extremely relaxing vacation. James G. Mullen, Jr., Milton, Massachusetts |
