Stonewatch was lovely! I was taking a course at Queen's (only a 10 minute drive and I could have taken the bus too), and Brian was relaxing and visiting with family. At one point we had four generations of the family in the house - and everyone of them enjoyed it! Lovely grounds, spectacular view of the lake, comfortable and beautifully furnished home, close to Queen's and close enough to the city to make a trip for anything we needed. We highly recommend it!

We stayed here for one month after arriving from UK and seeking a permanent place. It is as good as it says and as others have commented. Everything you need for a short or long stay. Good for kids too, there is a play park just out the back garden. Had to stop myself just staring out over the lake all day as it sparkled in the sun.

My partner and I rented Stonewatch for a relaxing mid-winter getaway. Although very spacious as the other guests have commented, we also found it very cozy and accomodating for just the two of us. The rooms are divided just perfectly that they flow into eachother without giving the home a feeling of being too large. It was very warm and peaceful. The views are stunning. This is definitely a luxery rental in every possible way.

I couldn't agree more with the comments already made so I won't repeat them but add that my husband and I rented Stonewatch over Christmas 2007. It was perfect. We had everything we needed to entertain 14 for Christmas dinner with all the fixings. All of our guests were impressed with Stonewatch, its' history and modern amenities made for a wonderful home away from home. Carole had even put up a Christmas tree for us!! Much appreciated :)
This was our 4th rental through VRBO and Stonewatch was by far the most impressive! We took our two teenage sons and chocolate lab - there was plenty of space for us all to enjoy each other and some quiet time as well. The yard is huge and private and can be closed off from the road.
One of my favourite things to do was stand in the foyer and look out the impressive front doorway to Lake Ontario... I couldn't get enough of the view!
If you are considering a stay in the Kingston area, we would highly recommend Stonewatch!

I was recently invited as a guest to this property. It was a lovely home and quite comfortable for 4 adults and 4 children. The kitchen is a dream for cooks, with every amenity imaginable and the bathrooms are lovely; I felt very pampered. The outside deck is quite nice, with a lovely shaded lawn. There is also a shade/sun beach area just across the street and we had a great evening, with outside fire/marshmellows. The swimming was quite nice as well.

I was in the Kingston area as a Visiting Professor at Queen's and Stonewatch proved to be the perfect place to stay. It enabled my family to have a great vacation while I took the leisurely commute to the University. The house really is beautiful with its fabulous lake views and magnificent acre of fauna-friendly garden. We were immediately attracted to the remarkably impressive limestone exterior but on arrival, the interior blew us away. The house has been recently refurbished with splendid taste throughout. The new kitchen and bathroom are certainly standout features but each of the rooms contributes something distinctive to the warmth and homeliness of the house. It is full of character, elegance, style and charm. We'd love to go back, and we found plenty of to entertain and stimulate children and parents alike in Kingston and the surrounding area.

I can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stonewatch. The house itself is simply magnificent and the rooms are so tastefully furnished and decorated. It may be an old house, but it certainly doesn't feel like an old house. We were warmly welcomed and we felt as though we were in a "home" from the moment we walked through the door. The restoration/renovations that have been made are perfect. They add just the right amount of luxurious modern amenities (the new kitchen and bathroom are outstanding!) while maintaining the building's historical interest (we loved the exposed stone walls). Nothing seems to overpower the house. Everything just seems to fit right in. It's perfect! I would highly recommend this house to anyone.
With majestic views of Lake Ontario filling almost every window, what more could you ask for.
Thank you so much for making this wonderful property available to us. We certainly look forward to returning to Stonewatch the next time we plan an extended visit to the Kingston area. |
