If you are trying to decide whether or not this property is right for you, you should stop thinking about it.
Go here.
The landscaping, interior design, amazing kitchen amenities are exceptional. The large rooms in the Estate house are perfect for 19 people...which is what we had. I'm sure even more could fit in there.
The pool is huge! The spa is relaxing as well as spacious. We loved the game room and the pond. My friend caught a 10" bass.
The beds are incredibly comfortable. The towels they provided were better than I had at home.
Claudia is an amazing property manager. She is very fast to respond to any questions, no matter how strange they are.
Norfolk is a charming town. We were lucky enough to be there on their 250th anniversary, complete with fireworks. There are plenty of restaurants within 30 minutes--we enjoyed a quaint Mexican place just over the border of Mass.
The property is phenomenal. It's large enough to be by yourself at times, but small enough to encourage real bonding. I highly recommend it. |

I hosted my 40th birthday celebration at this stunning property. The estate was surprisingly easy to reach in northern Connecticut, yet the town of Norfolk had a far away feel that made it seem as if we were in the northern reaches of Massachusetts or Vermont. Since I was booking off-season (April) and was searching across several states, the tipping point for me was the built-in activities within the property. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were a dream, we took luxurious dips in both before breakfast each day. The gang had fun in the game room after dinner and during a relaxing rainy day. The sound system had us grooving and the TV room was perfect for viewing the video we filmed from the night before.
My guests, who easily came from a variety of Northeast states, were taken aback by the amenities and architecture of the big house and charmed by the antique-filled farmhouse. We enjoyed gathering in both places (just steps away from one another) - a formal dinner in the big house and a casual supper buffet with a roaring fire in the farmhouse. Claudia was such a terrific help with her many recommendations for local services such as caterers, florists, etc. My birthday dinner was prepared by a private chef, a meal that from start to finish, we won't soon forget. One afternoon I even had a horse and wagon bring my guests to the village pub and back, which was a big hit. One of my fondest memories is a relaxing gathering of friends after dark around the fire pit beside the pond. A cup of rum-spiked hot cider and some chocolate chip cookies and our cares melted away. This was truly a special place to all of us. |

| Roughland farm has been the best vacation home that we have stayed at. My husband, puppy and I can not wait to go back! The farm house is beautifully and meticulously restored to it's original beauty. The main house is large enough to be an Inn - and has the perfect back porch to sit on and catch up on the day with friends, or to curl up with a good book and get lost in it for a couple of hours. |
