Thanks very much for sharing your cabin with my family. We had a great time on Ham Lake.
The cabin was very inviting and we were amazed at how comfortable it was, given its vintage. The kitchen and dining area open to the living area - very similar to modern homes. The bedrooms were cozy and my kids loved the bunk bed. The whole place was spotless and solid. A small portion of shoreline on each side of the dock was sandy, as was the first 20 or so feet of lake bottom. My kids had a blast stomping around in the water and building castles.
The cabin sits on a dead-end road right at the mouth of the bay. This gives it a more secluded feel then we expected, given the fact that Ham Lake has several other properties along her shore. The evenings were quiet and the bay was great for a quick paddle. I caught several bluegill while dropping small jigs at different spots. Heron, ducks and even two eagles flew by several times.
The cabin is very near Stone Lake - a small town south of Hayward. There is a great coffee shop in town, as well as a coop/grocery store and laundry. Great for quick food/beverage runs.
If you're family is looking for a simple, cozy and quiet vacation spot, I think you'll be very happy.
Thanks again, Denny - we appreciated our time there. |
