Wow! Your honeymoon cottage was perfect for our honeymoon!
We look forward to many more visits in the future. I can see why people come here and never leave - it is paradise!
We bought bird seed - what a joy to lay in bed and be awakened by the chatter of birds.
First day we drove Hwy. 11 around to the Volcano National Park - breathtaking. Second day we drove Hwy. 19 around. First part not so great but then you round the top and WOW! Third day we did farmers market and local things...wonderful. I think that third day was my favorite.
Thank you for being you! Thank you for making our stay on your beautiful island SO special. Don't forget to tell your guests about all the information on Channel 9 on TV.

Wow! What can I say? Just "WOW". Loree and I are already planning our next stay here at the honeymoon cottage. We decided at least 2 to 3 weeks or even a month next time. Beautiful birds, flowers, beaches, mountains, friendly people - seems very laid back, kinda like Alaskans. So many things to do. You have a beautiful cottage here Betty, the view! - DON'T WANT TO LEAVE! Loree and I will be back - sooner than you think!

Dear Betty. What's left to say? It's all been written already! Beautiful place, great hospitality, perfect location. (See? Everyone else has already said it - and better!)
We really enjoyed our trips with "Sunlight on Water". Their dolphin swim was amazing and the night swim with manta rays can't even be described, it was so incredible.
Another outing we loved was ziplining with "Big Island Eco Adventures" up in Kohala. Wow! Both these outfits had great staffs and we highly recommend them.
Thanks so much Betty for a great time!

Betty, thank you for your wonderful hospitality! The cottage is beautiful and the view spectacular. We have a sunrise wake-up every morning from a local rooster - we love it!
First day - jet lag - ate at Wasabi's - excellent sushi.
Second day - breakfast at Coffee Shack. Awesome! Lunch at Pescatore in Hilo, waterfalls, amazing, drove around the whole island. Dinner at Rin Thai. Excellent with view of sunset over the ocean.
Third day - made a great breakfast - ate out on porch overlooking ocean, birds everywhere - exquisite - romantic.

Betty, this cottage was a perfect getaway for our honeymoon. We enjoyed the view, were entertained by the geckos and loved experiencing the afternoon and evening rainstorms from the deck. Your recommendations for beaches and local restaurants were very helpful as well. We really enjoyed the snorkeling at "69 Beach" and next to Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay. We even drove out to the Green Sand Beach off of South Point Road, truely out of this world.........we highly recommend it. We couldn't imagine a better place to spend our honeymoon and are saddened by our impending departure. Thanks for everything and we'll be seeing you again.

Dear Betty, like all your previous guests, we too greatly enjoyed our stay. I was glad that the TV wasn't on (except for some "important" basketball games). When we'd return from our excursions late in the day we'd sit at the lanai table, listening to Hawaiian music, sipping wine and eating Maui potato chips and reading and talking. Ken grilled fresh fish every night.
We felt at peace in the beautiful landscape with geckos and birds and comfortable in the cozy cottage.

Aloha! We had a wonderful time here and wish we could stay longer. We found out about this wonderful place through our contra-dance contact. Cindy, a contra-dance caller for the dances in Hilo, told us about you. We always check on-line wherever we travel to see if there is a contra dance we can attend - and so we danced in Hilo with you!
Our highlights here were having breakfast on the deck with at least 15 geckos running around on the table and licking our oranges. Soooo cute!
We also went on the kayak trip to Captain Cook memorial with Ehu and Kai. Absolutely the best snorkeling we did in Hawaii, in Kealakekua Bay. We saw the spinner dolphins do their thing from a distance. Some snorkelers actually snorkeled over them (we were snorkeling the other side of the area unfortunately).
We then had time to visit Pu'uhemo O Honaunau National Historical Park (Place of Refuge) before it closed at 8 p.m. Very interesting.
Hope to come back again. Loved your place and you are a wonderful host and contra-dancer!

Staying 6 weeks was great and next year 7 weeks even better.
Thanks for all the suggestions for beaches - loved Puako. Bob will be looking to tennis with you again plus racquet ball and I'll be back in my groups. Now great to know people and have activities to do while here.

Dear Betty, this place is magical. We loved your house and all your suggestions for beaches and restaurants. Kua Bay was great for swimming and Honaunau was the best for snorkeling (we saw whales!) The beach equipment helped us take advantage of every activity. Golf at Kona Country Club was the perfect beachcourse and cheaper after noon. (We checked every course!) The Holuakoa Cafe espresso bar has better espresso than Seattle! We didn't need to visit Starbuck's! Enjoyed Holualoa Kona Coffee Company and sent coffee home to everyone.
We are taking many happy memories back to Seattle with us and plan to return.

Betty, this was our first trip to Hawaii and it won't be ourlast! Every day we left early but looked forward to coming back to the Honeymoon Cottage. We made dinner almost every night; we even grilled on Thanksgiving Day while watching the sunset. Thank you for the ripe avocado too, we made killer guacamole with it! P.S. For other Hawaiian newbies like us - definitely kayak across the Kealakekua Bay! There are locals there that will rent you their kayak and give you advice on where the snorkeling is best. GO EARLY!! We saw a giant mantaray and tons of spinner dolphins. The snorkeling was outrageously colorful!! And drive the Hamakua Coast...so lush!!

We also have a couple of restaurants to add to your recommended list: Cafe Pesto in Kawaihae and Rio in downtown Kona. We had a better meal at Cafe Pesto than at Merriman's for a lot less money.

Betty, thank you for the wonderful cottage. Al and I absolutely loved it here. It was nice to have the cool breeze in the afternoon. We came to adore the geckos. Your tips on snorkeling spots and eateries were perfect. Al and I got down to the Green Sand Beach and played in the waves (with a turtle) for awhile. Cliff-jumping (at Southpoint) was a highlight!!! Of course, Ironman trumped everything. My sister, Charleen and my niece Erin enjoyed their stay and are both excited to come back some time.

Thanks for the hospitality. Ash and I had a terrific honeymoon. Snorkeled all over the island, loved both sides of the island and the cool breeze (at the cottage) in the evening to cool you off. Explored new beaches everyday, hung out with old friends, just perfect! Restaurant recommendation list was "spot on"! Never had a bad meal the whole vacation. Lava Java was especially nice for all 3 meals and quality.

We've been to the islands four times and this is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. I wish we'd made plans to stay here a week instead of only 3 nights - next time we'll know better. Thanks for the memories. Loved the cottage and the geckos. There is just too much to do here to relax.
There is nothing like sitting on the lanai while listening to Hawaiian music. Must do's: volcano, snorkeling, walking on the beach at sunset, Mauna Kea, Black Sand Beach. Mahalo and many blessings.

Absolutely fabulous! The geckos help to not miss our pets at home too much. We've already planned with our family to stay next year for a month!
