La Bourrade - hunting lodge: the wide space and nature around combined with the possibility to engage in swimming, tennis and cycling made this one of our best visits to the Luberon ever. Life outside around the pool was just great, there are hiking paths all over and all those lovely little places like Menerbes, Roussillon, Bonnieux are only a short drive away. But we also made it to Picasso in Aix-en-Provence and even to the red carpet in Cannes, before we took the bikes and went all the way to the top of the Mont Ventoux. This holiday had it all!

More than a year before I wanted to celebrate a significant birthday and wedding anniversary by inviting our closest relatives to share a week with us in Provence, we began to look for accomodations for 14 people. We had a lot of choice, but Beverly Ferriz, the friend of the owners and personal manager of the property, was one of the reasons we decided on this property. Beverly was efficient, thoughtful, organized and helpful at every stage. We were delighted that we chose this property for our celebration. Beverly's help continued throughout our stay. The house is magnificent in every aspect -- accomodations, beauty, kitchen, and grounds. Potential renters should believe every word of the website posting. The scenic views were spectacular and the house itself spacious and welcoming. Each impeccably furnished bedroom had its own ensuite bath/shower, provided with everything you could want. Everything was spotless. The kitchen was a chef's delight, and we had at least four chefs among us. We had all the equipment we could possible want or even imagine. I had thought that people would take some of their dinners in restaurants, but everyone wanted to enjoy dinner in the house. We shopped at local markets and everyone contributed food and cooking expertise. For our anniversary, our relatives prepared a gourmet dinner, including a cherry tart and cherry ice cream from the cherries the children picked and pitted, and the ice cream maker we immediately discovered. We had cherry ice cream almost every evening. Gordon, the caretaker, was very helpful and took the children to gather the eggs from the chickens on the property, and helped them pick the cherries. The omelets from those eggs were the best I've ever tasted. The house is children-friendly. One reads about all the things that can go wrong with summer rentals, but absolutely othing went wrong. The only quibble one of us had was that the internet connection was erratic, although we could use it every day. The week we spent at the Mas de la Bourrade was like a dream. It could not have been better. If perspective renters have any questions, I will be happy to respond via email.

Hi Beverly,

Just wanted to let you know that we all had a wonderful time at Mas Bourrade last month and enjoyed meeting you too. What a lovely property and the most well equipped kitchen ever. A shower for each bedroom a bonus. I would definitely recommend it to others, especially if they don’t mind cooking at night. We were tired from touring during the day and it was perfect to stay home most nights for our group. Plus, eating in at night gave us a purpose for visiting the wonderful town markets. Each couple would pick up a part of the meal… cheese, pastry, bread, salami, wine, etc.plus some souveniers. The many outdoor eating areas were perfect – lots of space everywhere for a large group. Gordon was very helpful and advised us to go to the Sault market which was smaller and a nice contrast to the one in Isle sur la Sorgue.
