My family had an absolutely glorious and much- needed weekend away at this Vashon Island cottage. We were thrilled to find that the house was right on the water with a view south to Tacoma. Low tide was amazing, allowing hours of beach combing, treasure-filled walks, and general lazing about in the surprise March sun.
Everything about the cottage is well done-the furnishings and all the details are truly lovely. The two decks--one on the main floor and one outside the loft--gave us extra room to relax and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather. My three year old especially liked the loft space feeling like it was a big play area set up just for him and it was a great place to watch a movie in the evening. The bedrooms are comfy and the day bed worked especially well for our son.
We are definitely planning a return trip as soon as possible. It's a quick ferry ride from West Seattle and after an easy drive down the island you feel like you're a million miles from home.
One note, though...there's a long, long, long trail from the road to the house so be prepared for a bit of a workout...that's worth every minute!!! |

We had SUCH a delightful time at your cabin! We'd love to keep in touch with you and "escape" again sometime when it's available... it was so restful and peaceful, and as we live in West Seattle, with ferry time it was two hours door to door, and only 30 minutes of driving! Wow! What a great, painless escape! The others caught 3+ hour naps each day (I'm not a napper), so I got lots of yummy relaxing time to write holiday cards and snuggle by the fire and just zone out admiring the water.. a rare treat being a mom of a 2 year old! Your home is cozy and sweet and just the perfect size for us! You did a really nice job on the remodel: congrats! (You must be so glad that's done!) Thanks again for renting to us! Oh, one wonderful treat was the full moon over the low tide at night! The moon filled the cabin with light, and it was fun to see the tide pulled so far back.. very cool! Smiles, Martha
