Hi Barb and Ron,
Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your Westport Island house. What a lovely spot. And your house is beautiful. We were very comfortable. We have rented quite a few vacation homes in various places over the years and I have to say yours was the best-equipped and most comfortable. There was every thing we could possibly need — and the beds were comfortable. (Not often the case!)
I took a spill on my mountain bike out at the corner of 144 and Bay Shore Road. Your first-aid kit came in handy as I needed some gauze before we could get to the store for more.
I took a few nice photos (though I could not capture the hummingbirds with my camera). I will email one of two of the best shots in the next day or so . I really enjoyed the finches and the hummingbirds. I did my best to keep your impatience alive, but it got pretty hot the second half of the week. They were looking a bit traumatized by the heat but seemed to bounce back OK after being watered. You should feel free to ask your renters to water the flowers and fill the bird feeders. I was worried that we were going to run out of hummingbird food so I called Judy for the recipe.
Zoe, our lab, enjoyed herself too. Her favorite thing was lying in the mud at low tide and wading in the water. It was very useful that you had the hose outside. (Zoe’s second favorite thing was getting toweled off with the old beach towel we take everywhere with us.)
We hiked Bonyon’s Preserve. We ate out a few times at some places that we would definitely recommend. Oh, and we found out that you can get free wifi from the libraries even when they are closed, just by sitting on the front porch, which we did in Boothbay Harbor.
All in all we had a great time. We would love to come back.
Take care, Ruth and Scott
