I just returned from 10 nights in the apartment with my daughter-in-law. It was my fifth time to Paris and my first time not staying at a hotel. I will tell you that Dave is the nicest person to deal with. He answered all my questions that I e-mailed to him frequently. Moos was great even when we got to the apartment two hours late. Loved the privacy, the coffee maker, the washing machine and the Metro just out the door. The stairs weren't as scary as I thought they would be but part of the charm of the building. I just hope that when I am ready to go back that the apartment is still available.

My 16 year old daughter had a lovely stay in the apartment in June. We absolutely loved shopping Rue Mouteffard! So much so that we made all of our breakfasts and dinners in the apartment. The stairs aren't for the lazy, but we enjoyed the extra calorie burning! We would definitely stay here again.

We especially enjoyed your view over the neighborhood; my husband often stood at the window, observing all comings and goings while waiting for me to get ready.
We got used to the stairs, especially as our climb was often accompanied by beautiful piano playing.
The water was piping hot coming out of the faucets; thanks for the warning!
The washing machine could have been useful but was far too complicated to operate.
Moos was a great help to us - a friendly, personable man.
We enjoyed the area - it is lively and colorful - and hope to visit again.

A charming apartment in a great location in Paris. Just minutes from the Metro station and a great food market right behind the building. The views from the apartment window are wonderful. Although there are a fair amount of stairs to climb to get to the apartment, it does offer charm and comfort well worth the effort.

We visited the apartment in May 2009 to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The studio was very clean and perfect for our needs. We appreciated the amenities in the apartment - the refrigerator, telephone, washer & dryer. I cannot say enough how much we loved it! The stairs were not too bad and it was great exercise. The location is also wonderful. You are right next to Rue Mouffetard in which there are lots of local cafes and yummy restaurants. We would recommend trying the yummy sorbet shop that sells cones that look like flowers. We also loved the bakery that is across the street from Starbucks. It is absolutely amazing and the desserts are irreristable. If you would like to find internet access, you can pay for some at Starbucks or you can get free internet at McDonalds which is just a block or two past McDonalds. Good luck to future visitors and happy travels!

Dear Guests, I can't believe it has been seven years since I found my little piece of heaven in "la mouff!" I've just spent a couple of long weekends there scraping, painting, fixing a few things, and believe it should be looking much better in the bathroom and kitchen now. The building entrance and staircase are still showing their age but I find that part of the charm of staying in an older part of Paris... I will continue to make small improvements during the next year so please let me know of anything that needs upgrading. As one guest mentioned, there is a new Starbucks on the rue Monge a few hundred yards distant that has WiFi, and for the first time I've seen Parisians taking coffee to go and walking about with a Starbucks cup in hand!

Apartment was as described and the pictures (inside and out) are exactly what you will experience. It was a great location for us - away for tourist traps, but close to the historical sites. Rue Muffard (spelling?) is behind the building which has many small vendors - we highly recomment the bakery just behind the building and there is a small grocery story for basics supplies. There is internet access at the Starbucks down the street. Highly recommend this spot.

We stayed in this apartment for a week in April; it is very comfortable and clean and the owner and manager were helpful and responsive. The location is unbeatable with the market and the proximity to interesting parts of the city.

I spent a wonderful week in Paris in this studio with my 16-year old daughter. We felt comfortable and safe and really loved the look and feel of this lively neighborhood. There are just so many quality food products available on La Rue Mouffetard - we needed to walk up those stairs to burn off some calories! The metro was really close, and it's a great line for getting to so many of the museums and attractions. W've been to Paris a few times, but we'll remember our stay in this studio as one of our favorites.

Very much recommended! This little apartment is in a great location in Paris and we just loved heading out in all directions to see the city. Dave and Moos were most execellent and understanding when we had travel trouble, we really couldn't have asked for a nicer couple of guys to deal with. Thanks again! |

My wife and I stayed at the apartment from 9/27-10/1/05 and it was terrific. Be sure you can handle walking up 92 steps. The apartment is a real bargain, bed comfortable, nice little kitchen area. Really close to the metro (you can see station right out of your window) and it's fun to live "as a resident". Suggestion would be to put a copy of the local "what's up in Paris" tourist magazine that no doubt is available in hotels. That would be a nice add-on. Thanks.

We had a wonderful stay in this studio! It has all the amenities of a hotel but offers the visitor the experience of living like a Parisian, if only for a little while! It is clean, the kitchen is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable, and the bath is roomy with plenty of hot water. The extra we appreciated most was a shelf of books all about Paris, from guidebooks, to essays and novels. The studio looks out over a small plaza. Each morning we would sit by the front window with our coffee and watch the city come alive. We enjoyed walking along Rue Mouffetard which has every type of store and market imaginable, and each evening we tried to chose between the many nearby reasonably priced restaurants, all of which post their prix fix (sp?) 3-course menus outside to whet your appetite. We will definitely try to stay here on our next trip to Paris.

After many requests, I finally added this guestbook and see that it is working now. My hope is that guests can give me feedback about the apartment as well as provide useful information for other guests. I want to wish everyone happy holidays and bon voyage!

Staying at the Le Vieux near the Mouffetard was a wonderful experience for me and my wife. Literally a 1 minute walk to the metro station or the Mouffetard. The pictures online provide an excellent idea of what the studio is like and you will find it clean, modernly equipped, quiet and safe. Moos, your host who will meet you to give you the keys and show you how to work everything, speaks good English and was very helpful as well as kind. Our best breakfast in Paris came from some yogurt and fresh berries from the Mouffetard market, where you can find just about everything to satisy your culinary needs. Dave, the American owner, has left some quide books on the shelf about Paris which we found helpful, especially the "Paris Walks" book that explained the rich history of the Mouffetard--worth exploring itself for a day if you have time. No major drawbacks except that you must climb a few flight of stairs to reach the studio, but my wife and I enjoyed the exercise. There is a washer and dryer in the studio but we weren't sure how to operate it since it's different than most American models. The kitchen is fully stocked though we spent most lunches and dinners in restaurants. If you are looking for a quiet and clean studio near the Mouffetard and/or Latin Quarter, this is a good choice. I am sure my wife and I would not hesitate to return.

I would highly recommend staying in this studio. We found it clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners were excellent and very professional to deal with. The studio is located on a very quiet street (great for a good night sleep), but yet very close to Metro and many shops. We would definitely stay here again! |
