I'm actually reluctant to submit this review - I want to keep this place to myself!
My family and I stayed at this charming apartment for 10 days (October '09). This was the family trip of a lifetime. I had my entire family with me: my husband, my mother, our 3 children (8,6,4), and Coco (our 5lb poodle). I had never rented an apartment before, and was quite nervous about doing so. My expectations were quite high and were far exceeded. Our excellent adventure actualy began before we arrived in Paris. Suzan (the apartment's owner) and I corresponded several times. She answered all of my questions, no matter how small. Thus, before we even arrived, we felt welcome.
The apartment was clean, spacious, safe, and quite pretty. The 'back" of the apartment (both floors) is basically floor-to-ceiling-wall-to-wall windows. The effect was that the apartment was always bright and airy. Because the apartment is located directly across the street from a church, we had complete privacy. The neighborhood is beautiful, clean, quiet, and family friendly. We were only minutes away from several major monuments and every type of shop one would need. Every morning Coco and I would leave everyone sleeping and do the daily marketing - after first stopping for an espresso, of course. It was wonderful to be able to cook for my family in the apartment's fully equipped kitchen.
My children had plenty of room to stretch our and it was great for them to be able to watch the Disney and Cartoon Channels. My oldest especially liked the fact that he had full access to the internet. Better yet, Emily (the apt manager) was very nice, helpful, and babysat one evening (the kids adore her, as do we). We enjoyed exploring the city and every evening we sprawled out in the family room and played games, read, or watched tv. The dining table was the perfect place for us to take our enjoy together. After a full day exploring Paris, it was really nice to be able to come 'home' instead of returning to a hotel. Besides the fact that we were so comfortable in Suzan's apartment, renting allowed us all to experience Paris on our own terms: sometimes mom and I walked down rue Cler to have a ladies lunch at a cafe then do a spot of shopping; sometimes my mom and I would prepare lunch while my husband took the kids to the park at Champ de Mars; nearly every afternoon my husband and I treated the kids for crepes on rue Cler; and, every evening my husband and I would end our day by taking Coco on a long walk. Renting Suzan's apartment allowed us to really experience the Parisian lifestyle. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we began making plans for our return while we were still in Paris. And since we've returned to the 'states, we often speak about our experience and our next trip. We can't wait to return to the 'little/big' apartment on rue Cler.
Thank you Suzan and Emily for making our dream family vacation come true. See you soon, The Hills Family |

Many thanks to Michele and Judy who brought their very young children and indulgent husbands along with them to Paris last August, and sent a nice comment about their trip to Paris with kids:
"Our two families stayed here for one week in mid-August, one with a 3 year old child and the other with a 9 month old baby. The apartment worked out very well for the 6 of us - even with only having one bathroom. I think the split level layout helped a lot (bedrooms and bath were downstairs). Once the kids were in bed, the adults made dinner upstairs and relaxed and chatted until we couldn't keep our eyes open.
As for activities, the neighborhood is in a great location for strolls to the Eiffel Tower (2 blocks away), the Seine (10 min walk), the Louvre (20-30 min walk), and the Rodin Museum (20 min). However, in August the 7e (like much of Paris) is mostly closed for business. While this put a little crimp in our daily plans, there was enough to keep us busy (and fortunately the Julien bakery was open the whole time!). We also took the bus to Luxembourg Gardens where there is a great playground for kids (and pony rides). There is a handy bus stop right at the end of the block so it was a cinch.
One other notable thing we did was to take the kids to the local swimming pool near the Eiffel Tower a few times, which was a fantastic break from the summer heat.
Finally, I want to add that Suzan was fantastic to deal with before and after the experience. She is extremely organized and responsive, and it gave me much peace of mind beforehand that all would go well with our stay. Emily (Suzan's rental assistant) was also very helpful for us in particular, as she was able to babysit two nights so the adults could go out for a few extravagant French meals.
Bottom line: this apartment is a great value in a wonderful neighborhood!"

| We had never rented directly by owner before this trip and renting Rue Pierre Villey was the best decision we ever made. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and in one of the best locations in Paris. Within a 2 block radius of the apartment you could find great restaurants, cafes and street food vendors. There were 4 grocery stores and many, many local merchants selling wine, meat, seafood, produce and most important, BAKERIES. Suzan, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and she provided us with so much helpful information regarding the apartment and the neighborhood. We especially appreciated her assistant, Emily, who lived nearby and was available to answer all our questions and took me on a Paris shopping expedition and also on tour of the Louvre. She'll even babysit or teach you French!!! My husband, son and I had the vacation of a lifetime, thanks to Suzan and her great apartment. We plan on using VBRO for any future trips we may take. |

Homeowner Response:
We are very pleased that Nancy and her family enjoyed their vacation in Paris. I'm especially happy that she took advantage of everything renting Pierre Villey has to offer. Not just a nice apartment in a great neighborhood, but also the "extras" such as the extensive information before arrival; the friendly assistance that's available when you arrive; the terrace that lets you in on neighborhood life; and the restaurant and side trip recommmendations that help you have an extra good time, as Nancy shared with me in the following email:
"The trip was AWESOME. Staying on Rue Cler was the best part of our vacation. The apartment was wonderful and Emilyn (the rental assistant) was SUCH a great help. In fact, one of the reasons we selected the apartment was because an American assistant was available to help us if we got stuck with the language. She was so very helpful to us, not only offering info about the neighborhood but taking me on our shopping expedition and giving us a tour of the Louvre.
"I couldn't think of one single thing to criticize about the apartment or location. We would sit on the terrace at night and enjoy the street and tell each other how lucky we were to have selected your apartment to stay in. I have never rented directly from an owner before but we will certainly use VBRO on our next vacation. I will be happy to add compliments on the entire rental experience. It was all even better than we imagined. By the way, we did take your suggestion about La Fountain de Mars and going to Reims. What a great place.
"I can't tell you how much we appreciate all the organization and information you took the time to prepare for renters-it was all very helpful."
Thanks again, Nancy! We love to hear that the apartment rental works the way we intend it to, and to have great guests who take advantage of all it offers!

| Pierre Villey apartment is very well located, in the nice part of Paris. The apartment is very functional and you have everything that you need when you arrive. And if you need anything, just get down and you can get it from the Rue Cler market. |

We stayed at the apartment for 3 days in July and loved it - I only wish we could have stayed longer. The neighborhood is great; you really feel like you are living in Paris not just visiting. We loved the Rue Cler and ate almost every meal in one of the restaurants right on the Rue Cler. We are a family of five and the apartment was roomy and very comfortable. Emily met us and was great about filling us in on the apartment and neighborhood. We were there during Bastille Day and it could not have been a more perfect time to experience Paris.
Thank you Suzan for making everything so easy. I will be recommending Rue Cler to anyone I know traveling to Paris. |

| My family of 5 stayed at the flat for 4 days and it was terrific - perfect location within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and great shops on Rue Cler, yet on a very quiet dead-end street. The two bedrooms downstairs comfortably accomodated my wife and I and two of my daughters while my third daughter slept on the pullout upstairs in the living room. Emily, who met us at the apartment, could not have been more helpful. Will recommend the unit to friends and family. |

Hi Suzan. We loved staying at the Rue clear apartment. The best thing was the immersion in French family neighborhoods. It was very convenient to transportation stops and neighborhood shopping. The apartment was clean and bright. It was a great experience.

My wife and I stayed her for 2 weeks. The apartment was fabulous. We were able to eat breakfast and about half of our lunch and dinners in the apartment which saved a ton of money. A typical day consisted of going sight-seeing etc. from ten until whenever, and the coming back to the apartment to relax until dinnertime. It was spacious, comfortable, and well stocked. My wife and I greatly appreciated the various guidebooks avaliable as they made many of our choices much easier, and we were able to get a "head-start" on many trips. I cannot go on without thanking Zohra, the cleaning lady. My wife is a total neatnik, and insiste don cleaning the kitchen, making the bed, etc. before Zohra came. She was beside herself when we came back after lunch. Zohra went way above and beyond, unloading the dishwasher that we had started that morning, folding laundry that had finished drying, and even finishing putting away the groceries my wife had purchased that morning. It really help us to relax knowing we didn't have to worry about messing the place up too much. Suzan was a wonderful help before, during, and after the trip. She was able to recommend everything from museum passes (get them if you go, they are worth just for the fact you don't have to stand in line), to travel insurence, to how an internation wire transfer works. Ask her, we pestered her with questions for about a month solid! She has a great insight into how to make the trip enjoyable and is a joy to work with. We hope to be able to come back to Paris sometime and would love to come back to Rue Cler/Pierre Villey. Thanks a million! |

4 teenagers and 2 adults spent the New Year at Pierre Villey. As expected, it was very cold outside but the apartment was beautifully warm and there was a copious supply of hot water all the time. The general location, the 7th A , of course, is the best! But the actual street was also fantastic as so quiet but only 50 yards from the bustling Rue Cler and shops. Loved the church bells and the stained glass windows. It was great to be able to walk to the Eiffel Tower with our champagne on New Year's Eve and also for the younger ones to be able to stay to closing time at Euro Disney and still get back to the apartment easily and safely before midnight. We found it convenient to drive from England via the ferry and the sat nav got us to the apartment without any problems so we could unload and then park the car at the underground car park at Invalides for the week.Parking was easy, secure, 15 mins walk away and about 28 Euros a night. Pagode cinema also just other side of Invalides and very comfortable seats. One warning: many galleries and museums closed for longer over the New Year week than listed in "Pariscope" and on internet. Rodin Museum decided to close early with just a notice on the door! Also a number of parks and gardens closed, rather too cautiously, because of "icy patches".
Suzan, however, was very efficient, with lots of information about the flat and there to welcome us when we arrived early because of the speed of the journey from Calais.
Love to come again.

We had a great time at Suzan's apartment. The neighborhood is wonderful - 5 fabulous bakeries in 5 minutes walking distance - plus all the shops, cafes, etc.
We took my 82 year-old mother-in-law, along with another couple, and we didn't feel cramped in the apartment. It helped that the WC and shower were in separate rooms. It was helpful as far as my mother-in-law was concerned to have easy access to an elevator. Although she had to walk down stairs to the bedroom, the stairs were wide, safe, and had plenty of railings. Being right across the street from the #69 bus was also great.
Thank you, Suzan, for having thought of everything. This was our first time renting an apartment - a little leap of faith, really, but we are so glad that we did. Every night when we walked down the Rue Cler, we felt like we had come home! |

| Just returned from a lovely Thanksgiving in Paris with my 2 children, their uncle and grandmother visiting my daughter who is studying abroad. This property was perfectly suited for my family. We were 5 in the house and had plenty of space, and the large dining room table, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to the shops on Rue Cler allowed us to entertain my daughter's host mother and two of her fellow students in true Paris style! Loved the family atmosphere of the neighborhood --we truly felt as if we were living in Paris among the locals instead of being constantly surrounded by other tourists, and yet so close to the Champs de Mars that the Eiffel Tower became our beacon home! The home is bright and comfortable, the location is ideal, and the owner is extremely accommodating. I would (and do) recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Paris! |

Thanks to Suzan for working closely with us to make this happen (we had a glitch with Paypal and she was quite patient!).
As for the apartment, the best aspect is its location. We went shopping on Rue Cler for marvelous fruits, vegetables, cheeses, jams for our Sunday dinner. Great!
Oh, and the best bakery is just down Rue St. Dominique... St. Julien. You must go if you stay here.
Overall, the apartment is clean, serviceable, well- stocked, spacious... best for people looking to kick back in a no-fuss situation (and who don't mind drying their clothes on a clothes rack... no dryer here).
Probably not the first choice for people looking for romantic Paris with a view. But that can be found outdoors. Good for those on a budget. |

It's always good to hear that the apartment delivers exactly what is promised on our website and is so very appreciated by the kinds of people it's meant for i.e. parents like this couple traveling with their young children; older "kids" taking their parents on a trip; couples on their own who want lots of space, comfort and a great location; practical folks who recognize good value and want to enjoy living the experience of everyday life in Paris. It makes us happy to hear other people enjoy living there just like we do!

Many thanks to Jan Allen for choosing to bring her family to Rue Cler Pierre Villey and for the wonderful thank-you note she wrote:
"Suzan, there are dozens of personal memories your home afforded us that a chain motel never could have! Just sitting on the balcony hearing the pealing of the church bells and watching the people, schoolchildren, and shopkeepers go about their workday was as enjoyable to me as the nearby tourist sites. We took time for the fun things such as pony rides, sailboats, and pedal cars, and ice cream stands for the children in the nearby parks just as much as we toured must-see museums on our tourists' list. The neighborhood was safe enough to walk to the Eiffel Tower at midnight to view the light show and to allow two teenagers out on their own to check out the trendy shops and have a special date to a French cafe. My children have definitely had their cultural interests piqued and my husband and I dream to return one day!
I fully appreciate your professional manner throughout the entire rental process and the expedient refund of our security deposit. Your attention to details allowed us to begin enjoying our time together right away - from your notes about the metro to where we should eat and shop to the comforts of your home.
If I were to add more comments they would be:
'THE place to stay in Paris--whether for a romantic getaway, a traveling family wishing to experience a slice of the Parisian lifestyle, or for a food-lover's fantasy among the famous Rue Cler markets, you will enjoy a spacious apartment and all the thoughtful touches of your hosts. Suzan has thought of everything one could need in her lovely home. And Emily, the rental assistant, is invaluable with her knowledge and sense of humor in putting you at ease and providing you with any additional assistance you may need during your stay.'
Another point that was quite appealing about your rental and that was that you offer a minimum stay of 3 days (or more, if desired) versus a weekly minimum stay at other rentals. For those of us who have time and budget constraints your rental option is a winner! Thanks again, Jan Allen"

Location: Difficult to beat as so many key attractions are very close and the Rue Cler market is extremely handy and has quality food (including easy take home/out).
Entertainment: The Sling Box which provides US TV via the internet worked very well, and although you are watching TV from another time zone (EST), it was very nice to have and allowed us to catch the finale of Dancing with the Stars.
Apartment: The description and pictures were accurate; everything worked as expected.
Of note: Although the church bells do not ring at night, they do ring every 15 minutes starting from 9:45am until about 9 pm. After a couple of days we got used to it and they do have a nice sound. Also in Paris, there is so much to keep you out exploring. |

Super location and super stay.
Thanks a million to Suzan and Walter for making us feel so welcome at the apartment at Rue Pierre Villey.
We arrived late at night (2 adults and 3 kids) and they waited to let us in, made sure we knew where everything was and how it worked then left it to us. The apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed - we just needed to replace what we used.
The location was superb, a short pleasant walk from the Champs de Mars, Eiffel Tower, Invalides and Pont Alexandre III. Rue Cler itself was very pleasant.
The apartment is perfectly presented and very pleasantly decorated.
We had a super time and would very definitely recommend the apartment to other visitors. |

It's not easy finding a vacation rental that will take a family with three kids and two dogs! Suzan, the owner, was extremely pleasant to settle all details with, and we found ourselves the happy occupants of her spacious, bright, and quiet apartment for two weeks in February. I'd especially like to mention how well the apartment worked for our children and our two large dogs. Everyone had more than enough room, and the apartment is situated in a safe and convenient neighborhood. We were minutes from the Champs de Mars, THE dog-walking park in Paris; the Luxembourg Gardens, a great place for both kids and dogs, was a pleasant stroll away. A nice touch to this apartment is Suzan's "honor bar" system. When we arrived we were able to make a pot of coffee from the supply in the pantry. After finding the Starbucks the next day, I was able to enjoy great coffee and top up the supply before we left. The great market shopping and the many traiteurs- -take away shops-- in this neighborhood were convenient for fixing a quick and delicious dinner "at home" after a day of sightseeing, especially key when you've got tired and hungry kids who don't want to face a long, drawn-out dinner at the restaurant. (Leave the kids with Emily, Suzan's fantastic assistant, and leave the restaurant dining to the adults!) By the end of our trip we were all chiming in with my husband, who would invariably say at the return of nearly every outing: "I can't believe the location of this place!" A truly wonderful vacation. Now we need to convince Suzan to offer other rental properties in the rest of the world. |

We are so glad Judith and her family and dogs were happy at our place. When I travel I'm always grateful to find a place that welcomes my own well-behaved little dog and we wanted to make sure other dog and kid lovers felt the same when they come here. I would like to thank Judith for being a dream guest as are her dogs and kids, leaving the place in as good condition as they found it (you couldn't tell kids or dogs had been in residence ;-), fixing without being asked a minor accident and using and respecting the honor bar system to a T. We're glad it worked well for both sides and look forward to having more guests like Judith anytime.

"Dear Suzan,
It was not only an unsurpassable experience staying in your apartment, but also a pleasure to meet you personally! I wish we could have chatted with you longer. You both clearly have a perspective and depth of knowledge of the expat experience, of which we would like to know more.
Thank you again for the opportunity to have lived in your home for a short time. Whenever my husband and I begin to plan a trip back to Paris, we definitely will try to book your apartment! It really is an interest of mine to have access to a well-equipped kitchen, in spite of the fact yours didn't get much of a workout this time. You do have the perfect situation, with the combination of location, space, and quiet. And because we were traveling with my mother, the elevator was a very welcome amenity, particularly in Paris where every touristic activity, including getting there by metro, requires scaling several stories.
It sounds like you both get back to the States, and the West Coast, from time to time. If it would be agreeable to you, we would love to get together with you sometime! Even if just by phone. Please keep in touch."
And our thanks to you, Susan, for being wonderful guests!! A bientot, I hope !

This apartment was recommended to my wife and I from a friend who had stayed there a few weeks previous. As we had our 18 month old daughter travelling with us, we were looking for something that offered 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. The apartment turned out to be the perfect fit and exceeded our expectations with it's decor, two levels and of course it's location.
The artisan food shops and outdoor market on Rue Cler was pure bliss to those who consider themselves 'foodies'. I heartily endorse the experience of living like a Parisian through the morning market shop along Rue Cler.
In general, the proximity of the apartment to the Eiffel Tower and Saint Germaine areas is excellent. We chose to walk everywhere and found that it was easy to move around.
As the previous posted comment noted, Emily was more than helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport and also made an appearance to be ensure that we were not without some much appreciated help in getting off in the morning without a hitch.
I would recommend this option to anyone who wants a unique experience away from the typical hotel scene - it will be an enjoyable experience. |

We just returned from a 9-day stay at the Rue Cler Apartment.
We have made several trips to Paris during the last few years, and have stayed in other apartments, but this was our best experience to date.
The location of the apartment is fantastic. It is a just short walk to the Effiel tower, the metro, and to some of the greatest food shopping in Paris on the Rue Cler. There is a wide variety of restaurants nearby, from Michelin starred restaurants to budget dining—enough to satisfy everyone’s tastes and budgets. And, best of all, if you want to eat at home, there is an American style kitchen with all the supplies you can ask for. The place was very clean, and the linens were numerous and of high quality.
The apartment is extremely comfortable, with the living area upstairs and the 2 bedrooms and bathroom on the lower floor. It is very quiet, and even though there is a church across the street, the bells stop ringing around 9 and night and don’t begin till mid-morning. (Very considerate, I should add.) And, it is on a dead-end, so there is hardly any traffic noise.
When we got to the apartment, the rental assistant, Emily, was there and ready to help us get in and explain everything to us. She made it clear that we could call her anytime during our stay if we had any problems (we had none), and since she lived around the corner it made us feel great to know that someone was there to help us if we needed it. And, if your French is basic, not to worry—Emily is from the states. On the day we left she arranged for a taxi to the airport and showed up to be sure that we were picked up on time and that everything went smooth with our departure.
What made the apartment so wonderful is that it really felt like home. We had been traveling for a month before we came to Paris, so it was great to kick back on the sofa, turn on the TV, and just relax. Moreover, the ability to cook at home came in really handy, since we had pretty much maxed out with restaurant meals by the time we reached Paris. As I mentioned, Rue Cler, has numerous small food stores, as well as several larger super-markets, so shopping was a breeze.
In short, we had a fantastic time, and hope to be able to return soon.

Somehow I decided for a trip of a lifetime family vacation part of it should be spent in Paris in the vicinity of Rue Cler. And that was without the assistance of Rick Steves and his ubiquitous travel guide.
In browsing the VRBO site, I came across this apartment which sounded great and looked perfect for our family trip.
The apartment was very comfortable for us. While the apartment is equipped with a kitchen, we more often than not, took advantage of the Rue Cler markets and vendors ... every morning we had fresh bread and pain au chocolat and espressos, in the evenings it was salads and meats and cheeses and wine and deserts ... oh la la.
Needless to say we very much enjoyed our stay.
The suite is located midway between the Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower and Hotel des Invalides, close to a fabulous bus route (less than a block) and 5 minutes walk to the metro.
The only regret is that we didn't have enough time to see everything we wanted to.
If you get a chance, check this one out.
Thanks to the hosts for a trip we will never forget. |

| My husband and I loved our visit to Rue Cler. The apartment has the perfect setting on the quiet end of a fantastic street, and it is so close to everything. It is a great place to unwind, or go for long walks and soak up the culture. It is easy to settle in as the apartment is so comfortable (the black out blinds helped us to sleep off our jet-lag) but the markets on Rue Cler could draw out even a hermit. The markets there have fresh sea food, veggies, cheese, wine and of course the best baguette around – we cooked quite a few meals at home. There are also great shops and restaurants within a few blocks walk. We still crave the onion soup at Cafe Marche, which became our regular haunt. We can't wait to visit again and hope that your perfect flat will be available next time! |

| My wife and I stayed here last October. It is a great apartment, located on just the cutest Parisian street you can imagine (Rue Cler). They block this street off to cars! It is quiet, basically at a dead end, but seems like it is in the very middle of Paris. We walked everywhere, Eiffel Tower, etc. I'd buy it if I could, but renting it is the next best thing. This is a great apartment! We have such wonderful memories of our time there. The apartment is very spacious as Parisian homes go, the space is well divided and functional, there's lots of light and it's very quiet. Perfect! We love the neighborhood - it's one of the most desirable addresses in Paris. People come from all over to shop at the Rue Cler market, and it's right there at the doorstep. And it's so close to Les Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais, everything! Highly recommended - this is the place to be! |
