We stayed here in June as part of a family celebration--it was the perfect spot! Our entire (large) family was very comfortable. We had the flexibility to have our own private space, yet it was easy to visit with each other when we wanted. We have two young children (9 & 12 years old) and we loved being in SMA--we went horseback riding, ATV riding, visited the fascinating botanical gardens, took an art class, toured the town, and, of course, shopped! The staff members at Villa Mariposa were outstanding--excellent food, the home was kept clean, and all requests were addressed promptly. We'd return in a heartbeat... Julie Hamlin Washington, DC |

What a treat at the Villa Mariposa! There I was, completely relaxed, sipping limeade, reminiscing about our time together, celebrating, eating our fill of guacamole, burritos, and homemade Mexican food; playing games; shopping and wading in the grotto. An unforgetable week of scenery, food, and renewing family ties under the most gracious of circumstances. Grace |

Villa Mariposa is a beautiful home in an enchanting location. The cook, concierge and other service staff were excellent, friendly, and efficient, making our stay have the advantages of an elegant boutique hotel, but at a far lower cost. The grounds are lovely and meticulously maintained, and the heated pool is a welcome afternoon activity.
San Miguel de Allende is a delight to explore – there is so much to see and do! However, the highlight of our stay was the Sazon Cooking School, just a short walk from Villa Mariposa. We took the Market Tour and Class, and highly recommend it. After being taken to what our instructor Chef Paco considered to be the best of the produce and cheese stands in the local market, we returned to class where he taught us how to turn our fresh ingredients into three different kinds of salsas. Some other dishes were added, and we all had a wonderful lunch.
The school has classes almost every weekday: there are series focusing on the various regional cuisines, local and seasonal ingredients, and entertaining. It also has one of the most beautiful china, glassware and accessories shops I have ever seen. |

| Seriously, this has been a remarkably unforgettable experience. The Villa evokes oohs & ahs from my family. Alex, Lupita, Chayo have extended themselves beyond any expectations. What great fun! |

What a trip! Wonderful seeing everyone. Having the strong sense of family means so much. Thank you, thank you. So many memorable moments! Dancing with the birthday celebration mariachi band, the romantic and otherworldly Grato, and the celebrations in town (fireworks and dancers), made the vacation an escape to a new beautiful state of mind. The cooks and crew at the Mariposa were incredibly welcoming and made Becky and I feel at home. Often when you are at leisure and the people around you are working, their efforts are made apparent. Alex, Chayo, and the others were just another bright light which helped illuminate our joyous San Miguel experience. Another highlight of the trip was renting the ATV. Becky and I had a blast zipping along and exploring the charming little corners of San Miguel along with the elaborate and special landmarks. . A world of thanks for the invigorating and meaningful experience.

We just returned from a week at Villa Mariposa. It is exactly as described on this site with all the amenities included. It is elegant living, Mexican style, with all modern conveniences. The staff was extremely helpful and the cook prepared excellent meals. When you enter the doorway you are in an enchanting private secluded space with beautifully furnished bedrooms, bathrooms, dining, living , entertainment rooms and delightful private patios or balconies. The pool area has space for sun and shade, lovely tiled walls and pretty gardens. A short taxi ride brings you to the center of town for cultural and shopping experiences or to the Tuesday market, or hire a van for excursions to Dolores Hidalgo for pottery shopping or Queretaro or, especially, Guanajuato. |

| Villa Mariposa is a fantastic vacation home! The house is absolutely beautiful inside and out - the pictures on the website don't begin to do it justice. The staff was helpful and accomodating, but never intrusive. Great food, fabulous shopping, beautiful surroundings and tons of activities like horseback riding, ATVs, hot springs, home tours.... We will definitely go back! A vacation in SMA is great, but staying at Villa Mariposa makes it SO MUCH better! |
