We booked this B&B based on positive TA reviews and the information on the Mas du Clos de l'Escarrat website. We were not disappointed during our two night stay while we toured the Dentelles de Montmirail and visited Chateauneuf du Pape. Charles and Andree, the owners of this attractive place, speak flawless English, and are very welcoming and helpful with advice about things such as nearby restaurants, ATM’s, etc.
Our room was comfortable, tastefully decorated and clean. The small terrace outside our second floor room overlooked a vineyard and the Dentelles in the distance. A generous breakfast was served in our room each morning by cheery Andree. A bonus was the free wifi in our room.
The Mas du Clos de l'Escarrat is a good value and a good base to use for visiting this lovely area of France. |

Our party of three greatly enjoyed our stay at Mas du Clos de l'Escarrat in early April. Andree and Charles are gracious hosts who operate a serene and very tidy B&B in the northern reaches of Provence. We were dazzled by the endless fields of tulips backing up to the property and fruit trees in blossom at this time of year in the immediate area, proving that Provence is more than its signature fields of summer lavender.
Our two-bedroom unit had a commanding view of Mont Ventoux and adjacent vineyards. It was very well maintained, private and comfortable. This is an ideal place to downshift to a relaxed and peaceful break in a gorgeous part of the world.
We took advantage of the Mas' wine tour package and were glad we did. Charles was both informative and patient as we worked our way through various Rhone Valley wineries. This tour would be enjoyable and educational for both the novice and the serious oenophile, thanks to Charles' obvious passion for, and understanding of, Rhone wines (you are in safe hands as he does not sample the wares as he leads the tour). We topped off the day of touring with a terrific meal prepared by Andree back at the B&B and tasting of wines that we had expererienced during the day.
All in all, we heartily recommend the Mas for its terrific combination of slightly-off-the-beaten-path location, comfortable and clean accomodations, informative (optional) wine tour and terrific hospitality extended by Andree and Charles. |
