Comment Text: The BLUE apartment was our home for 2 weeks in August 2009 – the BLUE theme was echoed in the cloudless bright blue skies everyday – perfect for enjoying the pool, the spectacular views from the terrace and local attractions including the annual fiesta! One of our best-ever family holidays, we didn't need to put the TV on once – D (56), C (47), M (17) & A (15). |

Our visit to Gaucin and the Azul apartment began very inauspiciously. Our arrival in Spain was delayed by bad weather in New York. When we finally arrived in Malaga, two days late, we discovered that, in all the confusion, we (I) had misplaced the envelope that contained our reservations information, the directions to Gaucin, AND the address of our apartment. My wife was more than a little distressed with me, I was chagrined at my carelessness and we started our drive to Gaucin under considerably less than ideal circumstances. To add insult to injury, about half way to Gaucin we discovered that the GPS we had rented with the car was not working. Having nothing to loose I very confidently assured my wife that someone in town would know of the apartments we were looking for. The wonderfully friendly people of Gaucin saved the day. We had barely gotten into town when we asked a very pleasant lady if she might know Sylvia who owned apartments here in town. Of course, everyone knew Sylvia. She didn't remember the house number but go here and here and ask someone. We did. The man we asked next pointed to a large, beautifully finished oak door directly across the street. We parked the car and didn't use it again for three days. We walked the whole town, found the restaurants and the grocery stores, figured out the streets, marveled at the pleasantness of the people, and enjoyed the quiet, "Old World," serenity of it all. Coffee and hot chocolate grew cold as you lost yourself in the scenic view from our apartment - the mountains, Africa, Ceuta, the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, The Pillars of Hercules, the ships, the winding roads, the Castle, the Old Roman Road, the flowers, "The Wonder of it all" - has ruined many a perfectly good cup of coffee.
But, there was much more. Within an easy an picturesque drive were many interesting locales: Ronda, Algeciras, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Cordoba, Malaga, Marbella, the Costa del Sol, even parts of Portugal.
We spent a month there and we could easily have enjoyed at least three. I could go on and on about the food, the people, the scenery, and more but this "note" is long enough as it is.
Anyone planning on a Spanish vacation would do well to consider the Gaucin area generally and Sylvia's apartments specifically.
Thank you Joe and Sylvia,

| Simply perfect, we were on our honeymoon and have been coming to Gaucin for the past 10 years, this was our first time staying in the apartments, and i can honestly say it was paradise, Sylvia and Joe were fantastic hosts and the apartment covers all your needs. This truly made the most amazing honeymoon come true. We have already passed the details on to friends and family and we will certainly be booking again in the very near future. Many Thanks. Wonderful. |

Our family of four just enjoyed a fantastic stay in the Azul and it really was one of the best apartments we've vactioned in and we have stayed in quite a few thru-out Europe. The views are outstanding, the setting is perfect, the apartment is basically new, fantastic large kitchen, nice wood burning fireplace, beautiful eating area, large TV, videos, games .... Finally Gaucin is a very charming and truly authentic and "working" village. We have already recommended Sylvia's apartment to several friends. If you're coming to the Andalusia area this is the spot!

| Where do I begin - everything about this home and Gaucin is breathtaking. Sylvia has created an environment conducive to comfort and endulgence from the kitchen to the bathrooms. We loved the heated pool, the village, the health food store, the hikes, the art - ALL OF IT - THANKS SO MUCH - Louise Neve-Richardson |

Comment Text: Hello Folks,
I stayed at this STUNNINGLY appointed apartment from 29th Sept to 13th October 2007. I thought I was in heaven when I woke up after my first night ! Sylvia has thought of everything from the magnificent decor down to a flashlamp - every detail is perfection. 5 star accommodation is an understatement as far as I am concerned.
The views from the terrace are breathtaking and you can see the Pillars of Hercules straddling the azure Mediterranean with ships at anchor in the straits of Gibraltar. Morocco and Algeciras are also splashed on the canvas.
Gaucin is a working Spanish town and I loved to stroll around the picturesque streets. A must is a visit to the castle overlooking the town and for the energetic a climb to the top of "El Hacho" 1011 metres above sea level. There are good restaurants, bars and a variety of wonderful shops to cater for all your needs.
Gaucin is ideally situated for those of you who like walking in the clean mountain air. If you love the sea then you have the luxury of Spain's finest resorts such as Marbella within an hours journey.
If you want a holiday with a refreshing difference away from the madding crowd then Gaucin is for you. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Come and see for yourself. I'm sure you will agree with me when you relax in this heaven on earth called Gaucin

Me, my wife and our 4 kids spent 2 weeks in this apartment, it was amazing. The accomodations really couldn't be better, the quality of the apartment and everything in it was truly as good as it gets and it's so tastefully decorated that I'm still trying to figure out how someone could have such great taste.
The apartment of course is only part of the story, you can only spend so much time lying by the pool, reading a book, etc. - actually you can spend quite a lot of time doing that in this apartment.
When you venture out into the town, a new world of pleasure awaits. For us a real bonus was being able to walk everywhere, we didn't even consider taking the car. The town may be small but it wants for nothing, groceries are a few steps away, not to mention many excellent restaurants, plenty of places where you can have a 'tinto & cervasa' (red wine and beer) - all-in-all we spent much of our time in Gaucin pinching ourselves.
If there was anything that could have been improved about our vacation, it is that it could have been longer. Gaucin wasn't an easy place to leave. The accomodations, restaurants, etc. and the people are as good as it gets.
To Sylvia and the people of Gaucin, Thank You for making us feel so comfortable and welcome. We look forward to visiting with you again.
