| We were so happy with the apartment in Youghal, and we easily recommend it as a base to explore southwest Ireland. The apartment was large, clean, and the view was great. We enjoyed playing with a neighbor's dog who visited one morning. As previously mentioned, it was great to come "home" and cook dinner. And starting the mornings with a leisurely breakfast before venturing out made for great days. And the town of Youghal; I wish I had more time to spend there. We plan a return trip to Eire in a couple of years, and hope to stay there again. |

Can it be one week since we left beautiful Ireland? We may be home in the States, but our trip to the Emerald Isle has left indelible impressions etched in our memories. One of the strongest we have is our stay in Youghal.
From the moment we walked through its front door, we felt right at home in the apartment. Bright and airy, we could spread out (rather than feel cramped in a hotel room) and relax after a fun, long day of sightseeing. Even though we were on vacation, it was rather nice to whip up a home-cooked meal on occasion.
Being a family of 4, we appreciated having 2 spacious bathrooms. One has a tub/jacuzzi/shower; the other a shower stall. As an added convenience, it was great to have access to a (combined) washer/dryer.
The pictures don't do the view outside the patio door windows justice. Situated high on a hill, you can gaze out over the breathtaking expanse of sea, and marvel at the changing weather. I will say this - the sea is a sight you never will get tired of viewing!
Youghal (pronounced "yawl" for those of us unfamiliar w/ Gaelic pronounciations) was charming; the people warm and friendly. There are 2 grocers nearby, and you'll find many shops & boutiques down the main street. When we chose to eat out, we were not disappointed w/ the area restaurants. Our daughters, rather picky eaters, found plenty of fare to satisfy their tastebuds. In addition, Youghal is well-situated in the region, making it easy to get to many points of interest in Waterford, Cork, and Blarney. Even the western part of the country is w/in acceptable driving distance.
About the owner - he was wonderful...so friendly and accommodating. He answered all our questions, made sure we were comfortable, and went out of his way to help make our stay great!
We highly recommend choosing this location for your stay in south-central Ireland. Situated as it is overlooking the sensational sea and its convenience to a variety of sightseeing destinations, you really can't go wrong! Enjoy!!! |
