Sophia House vacation rental home has opened in Eureka Springs, AR, the quaint Victorian-style tourist destination famous for shopping, dining, the Crescent Hotel, and The Great Passion Play.
Operated by David and Jane Reuter, Sophia House is a 1,200 square foot home packed with modern conveniences and comforts, yet is nestled in the untouched natural beauty of the Kings River Valley, about 6 miles from Eureka Springs. It is a true nature-lover’s paradise, with private access to the beautiful (and kid friendly) Kings River only a few minutes walk away for swimming, fishing, and floating. There is a quiet, private chapel even closer than that. Peace and quiet quickly replaces stress and noise, and city-dwellers will never see the night sky as large as it appears from the sprawling deck of Sophia House.
The immaculate home is smoke-free and pet-free. It is beautifully furnished, and boasts custom woodwork throughout. A generous basket of goodies await the weary traveler. The three bedrooms are roomy and comfortable, and the two full baths are as spotless as the rest of the house. The kitchen is fully appointed with brand-new appliances, cookware and eating utensils, and is even stocked with basic spices, olive oil, and a nice selection of teas. Amenities at Sophia House also include a well-stocked library and private reading room, and a brand-new front-loading washer & dryer.
The Reuters, who live nearby, have provided Sophia House as a haven for families. “Our vision for Sophia House is to provide a place for families to get in touch with what’s important in life,” says Jane Reuter. “We want families to come together in the beauty of nature without the distraction of cable television and video games.” David Reuter, LPC is also available for personal or group counseling, and these arrangements can be made separately.
“The heart of the journey,” says travel writer Jim Cosgrove, “was the time we spent sunning and fishing on the Kings River. Besides our own conversation, there were only the sounds of nature; no cars, trucks, planes, phones, or radios - just the sound of the river, the birds, and the breeze.”
For those with the shopping or sightseeing bug, operators David and Jane Reuter can recommend any number of places to go and things to do in and around Eureka Springs, one of Arkansas’ tourist meccas. World famous Branson, Missouri and Silver Dollar City are also close enough for a day trip.
The few extra minutes it takes to get to this spectacular natural paradise is well worth the drive, and visitors will find Sophia House as well decorated and appointed as any private home.
