When it comes to where I stay - hotel or condo - I'm a snob. I admit it. So after spending hours on this website, I finally found the Willow Bay Lodge listing. I was thrilled. But that was just the beginning. It's when my family arrived that we realized how amazing this place is. The photos really represent the property accurately. The attention to detail is inspiring. The gourmet kitchen, cozy living room, huge flat screen, and outdoor hot tub are all amazing. The bedrooms are perfect. Seriously, if you're reading this...stop looking at the other properties and book Willow Bay. You will not be disappointed. |

| This rental is exactly what you see on the ad. It is new and very upscale in construction and furnishings - very comfortable. Great spa tub and hot tub, great location, decked out with Bose sound system, huge TV; great layout of master vs. two other bedrooms, very well insulated so you don't hear the noise of your kids - or other guests from downstairs to upstairs, great space for 6 people. |

I have stayed in Big Bear for weekends and for extended stays for about 6 years. I have rented all types of cabins in Big Bear, Big Bear Lake, Fawnskin and Sugarloaf. I enjoyed most of them, but this is by far the best rental we have ever had the pleasure to stay at.
We stayed at the cabin for 16 nights. I have never enjoyed Big Bear more. The cabin shown in the picture is half of the duplex. The side we stayed on could sleep up to nine people; I would assume the otherside is the same.
We were told that this duplex was built in 2007. You can tell they had a professional decorator come in and pick the colors and most of the furniture. I doubt I have seen anything nicer in any Log Home magazine.
During the two weeks we stayed at this cabin, other families stayed on the other side of the duplex. It was really a surprise not to have walls that seemed to be made of paper; we never heard anything from the other renters.
Describing the duplex we occupied:
The master bedroom is very large and has a balcony that overlooks a very quiet street (even on weekends); we could smell the pine trees when we left the windows open at night. The Master bathroom is about half the size of our small home in San Diego (had to be bigger than 500 square feet), it has a gigantic bathtub that my daughter never wanted to leave and it also has a great shower. I think my favorite thing about the bathroom was how bright it was without people being able to see in.
The two other bedrooms were beautifully decorated; I thought I had rented a house out of Architectural Digest. The beds were more comfortable then you would find in most rentals. Most rentals never have enough blankets and pillows; however, this would not have been a problem even if we had nine people staying the night.
Special features that I loved; THE SPA!!!!!! Was big enough for four or five people and was just perfect at night, you could see all the stars and has no neighbors watching/peeping while you relaxed. The Wine frig was great, even if you do not drink this is a great place to put leftover food, bottled water and soda. Air Hockey and Foos Ball in the garage kept the kids busy and was an unexpected surprise. I watched the HDTV with Bose surround sound, I had never thought sound meant much till I heard a good movie on this system…..fantastic!
I know that it seems I may be overly complimentary of this vacation home, but I am not exaggerating. Compared to other vacation rentals in Big Bear, it is really a great deal and I know anyone who rents either duplexes or both would be more than satisfied. I have paid twice the amount for other cabins and was nowhere near as happy as I was with this cabin!
