| We stayed with our two children (ages 10 and 13) for several days in this lovely apartment. The breakfast, served by the charming Aida in a beautiful courtyard, was delicious. We found the location very convenient, and were happy that we could park our rental car on a nearby road (for a daily city fee). We took several day trips to surrounding towns (Uzes, Pont du Gard, Les Baux)and Aida gave us useful advice and suggestions. Overall, a great experience in Avignon! |

Before we even arrived and saw the beautiful home,
Madame Assad was a terrific help to us, letting us
know the best way to arrive from Paris. The home is
in a great location, easy walk to anywhere in
Avignon. Groceries, bars, restaurants within 3
blocks from the house. The apartment was
spacious, clean, nicely decorated with original
artwork painted by her sister. My favorite part was
the kitchen. I love to buy fresh produce and food
from the local market and cook at home. She had a
generous supply of spices in the kitchen -
something you rarely find. Fresh fruit, juices, and
breakfast foods were in the refrigerator. Several
times when she knew I was cooking, she brought
me some vegetables to try with our meal. One
evening when I arrived home in rain storm, soaking
wet, I asked her if I could buy a glass of wine. She
said no! She gave me a bottle of the best regional
wine. She could not have been more hospitable or
kind. The outside garden downstairs is absolutely
beautiful with plants and flowers growing all over
the place, including a wisteria covered canopy over
the outdoor eating table with the beautiful blue
flowers dripping down. Inside from the garden is
found a comfortable library with books in many
languages, games, cards, reference books, and
video selections. The circular staircase going up to
the apartment is magical! You feel like you are
entering a fairy tale, it is so beautiful. I visited in
April with my daughters on their spring break. In
June, I wanted to stay there again but we had our
whole family and there was not enough room. I
highly recommend the Clos du Rempart. I have
rented apartments all over France and this one was
special. |
