| Lovely and serene, quiet and unhurried. This is not the place for you if you like shopping or artificial pleasures, but if you like quiet beauty and an unhurried lifestyle, this is just the place. There is a lot of natural things to do here, hiking, etc, but sitting on the patio and watching the river roll by is one of the best. |

"We returned yesterday from our wonderfully relaxing week at the Petrolia House. What a great place for our whole family to get in some long-needed relaxation and bonding. So nice not to be pressured by "have -to-do" things...no restaurant reservations to keep; time-tables to meet; no shopping for foreign-made "souvenirs," etc. I spent every morning and evening sitting by the river with my binoculars, coffee and/or glass of wine and watched the dog trying in vain to catch minnows. So quiet! Swimming was good there but best up at the county campground. The beach was windy but the beached whale and sea lion enticed my grandchildren..."Grandpa, the sea lion has toe- nails on its flippers!," generating a lot of discussion about evolution of species and natural selection."

"Our 10 days at your river house was glorious. We, and our visiting friends, had such a great time. Our stay there was exactly what we needed. We have not been so relaxed in a long time. Thanks again and again."

What a fantastic week we just spent up on the Lost Coast! Columbus Day weekend at your home, followed by an awe-inspiring hiking trip down the Lost Coast trail.
The house is beautiful, the river refreshing, and the apples delicious! Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to take in such a special landscape and pace of life for a short while.
Really hoping for the chance to return sometime soon! |
