| This is a wonderful house, filled with character. We spent many happy hours browsing the amazing collection of books, then sitting on the porch reading and drinking a glass of wine. The garden is lovely and we enjoyed watching the foxes playing in the lower meadow. The house is in a peaceful location, but is within walking distance (less than 10 mins) of a very good restaurant at the Four Chimneys. We are grateful to Lucy and her family for allowing us to stay in their home and would highly recommend it. |

We just returned from a most enjoyable long weekend(Presidents'Day)stay at Monument House! The home is in a wonderful location, just perfect for great walks! While the neighborhood is residential, you are minutes away from shops, restaurants and an interesting museum. Inside, you will feel most comfortable with cozy places to sit and visit or other inviting spots to catch up on your reading. Plenty of room for our party of 7 adults both young and not-as-young! This lovely home has kept the wonderful details of its past while paying attention to modern amenities! The owner was most helpful and patient with answering my questions and with every step in the rental process! We hope to be fortunate enough to return to Monument House!

Monument House proved the perfect headquarters for a mini-family reunion when relatives gathered to celebrate my niece's graduation from Bennington College.
Everything about the house is lovely and steeped in history. The battle monument is just one block up the street, and Old North Church, the burial site of poet, Robert Frost, is two blocks in the other direction. In between are beautiful homes, incredible views, and a couple of historical markers to boot.
The hostess who owns this property went out of her way to make sure that our stay was all we hoped it would be. We used the fireplace one night, knowing ahead of time where to find wood and how to manage the flue. The kitchen is modern and convenient.
Our favorite spot was the beautiful back yard and sitting porch. Flowers bloomed everywhere. A fox trotted by one morning. On another day, we watched from the comfort of the porch as a thunderstorm rolled in.
If ever I have the chance to visit Bennington again, I would certainly want to stay at Monument House. |

| We stayed at the house in October 2007 and loved it! The house has a lot of character and was very comfortable. The garden was great! The location close to Bennington Monument and downtown is also great - we would recommend! |
