We recently stayed here for 4 nights over the New Year's Eve 2008. I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. Alejandro, the manager of this apartment is top notch and speaks fluent English. Prior to our arrival, he offered to have a private car pick us up at the airport. How pleasant it is when you're tired from a 12 hour flight to have someone meet you at the airport and take you directly to the apartment -- especially when our command of the Spanish language isn't so good. The cost was only $25 and less if we would have picked up an airport taxi. When we arrived, Alejandro met us at the curb and took us to the apartment. He gave us an orientation of the apartment and showed us how to use the coin self-service laundry downstairs. The apartment is very clean and the location is just a couple blocks from the Central Mercado and a large supermarket. You are also close to the excellent subway system. We ate in for dinner each night with fresh fish and produce from the markets. This is the place to be for New Year's Eve! We watched 3 firework shows from our 23rd balcony. This is a safe and secure 2 yr old building with 24 hour security downstairs and badge access required for all guests and apartment owners.
After our stay in Santiago, we were headed to Vina Del Mar. Alejandro went out of his way to get our bus tickets to Vina Del Mar and met us at the apartment with them.
Sure you can stay in a fancy hotel and pay $150-$350 per night, but why do that when you can stay in an apartment for much less and feel like a local? |
