My husband, daughter, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and I stayed in the ranch house during Christmas week of 2008. Even though there was almost two feet of snow outside, we were cozy and warm inside. We thoroughly enjoyed this house. Even though it is small, it is efficiently designed so that you can all be together if you want. (Yet you can also get "away" by retreating to a bedroom!) Next time, we'd love to rent this house during nice weather in order to enjoy the patio. We definitely hope that we can return to Portland and the ranch house soon!

A great place for us to stay while in Portland for my daughter's wedding. The perfect location...a wonderful neighborhood with everything we needed in walking distance, but also only a few minutes drive to downtown. My grandson loved going to Laurelhurst Park and the toys in the house were an added treat. Clean, cozy, and comfortable. We would definitely go back.

This was the perfect rental! Very nice furniture, beds, kitchen. Close to grocery stores. Mt. Tabor park and Laurelhurst were nice for running. Great neighborhood. We (3 couples) were in town for a wedding and fit comfortably. About 1.5 mi to a MAX station (42nd and Hollywood), which gets you to and from the airport very easily.

We came up to Portland for a family wedding and wanted a nice comfortable house to stay in. We were pleasantly surprised, and the house is nicer than the pictures show. This house has a great layout for a family of six, is decorated very tastefully, and it is well appointed with all of the creature comfort things that are too big to lug around on a long trip, but are nice to have in a home. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The neighbors are super friendly, and there are convenience stores and restaurants located a short walk away. Shelley and Chris, the owners, were very friendly and easy to deal with. This is the way renting a house SHOULD BE. When we return to Portland and need a house, we will try to get this same house again.

Our family travelled to Portland to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Reed College. We found the Hawthorne district ranch house to be our home away from home! We loved being within walking distance of everything and really took advantage of it, and Mt. Tabor was probably our favorite destination. We had friends over for dinner one night and the table easily accomodated the 7 of us. We can't wait for a return trip to Portland, and when we go, we're really hoping to stay here again. Great place, well appointed, super comfortable.

My family came to visit me from Italy, I was looking for the perfect place where we could all be together, make dinner and feel like home!! I found it!! We could not have been better! I live in PDX and I know that this neighborhood is the best to be in, for a peaceful picturesque vacation... The house was warm and cozy, the fire place such a nice touch and Chris and Shelley really pleasant and amazing people!! Thank you guys, you made my family feel like home..so far far away from Europe! Silvia

Fabulous! We had such a great time staying in this lovely updated ranch home. It was just strolling distance to our favorite digs in SE Portland including Laurelhurst Park, the Belmont District, and Hawthorne restaurants and boutiques. Just maybe you can get some day old bread at Utopia Cafe to feed the ducks at the park. Svea loved having pancakes at the "Oregon" house that she had seen on the internet. Devin loved cruising around from piece of furniture to furniture. Mom and dad, well they just loved snuggling in the cozy atmosphere, ability to walk everywhere, and pack half as much clothes for our flight to Oregon because the washer and dryer were at our fingertips. Svea and Devin also loved the toys. VBRO is the only way to go! Regards!

A great place! We stayed for about a week with two small children. Perfect for families. Thai food a couple of doors down, walk to coffee, Horse Brass Pub, Portland Nursery. Easy access to everything in the neighborhood. The place had everything we needed, including wifi. Clean and cozy, we look forward to staying there again. Fantastic!

My boyfriend and I greatly enjoyed our stay in your home. It was cozy and in a great part of the city, close to restaurants and lots of eclectic shopping, plus the fantastic Mt. Tabor Park. The fireplace was a nice touch and the beds were incredibly comfortable, making for a relaxing stay after running around Portland all day.

We enjoyed our stay in your comfortable Ranch! Our grandson thought he was coming to "our house" to visit and couldn't wait to play with your toys, eat popcorn, hot chocolate by the fire. Other family members will be visiting our daughter in Portland and we will certainly recommend "our house" as the place to stay.

I was a little apprehensive about doing this- I don't know these people, but the experience was amazing! The house was much more than we expected. We were able to have family members visit us while the children napped. It was private- the children could carry-on and we didn't have to worry that they would offend others. It was clean, no odors of pets or tobacco- or anything else, toddler-proof and VERY well appointed. The linens and extras are great quality. The price was very reasonable considering the caliber of the house, and we saved money by cooking meals instead of dining out all the time. It is a sweet & quiet neighbourhood, and yet close to downtown. I really cannot praise this place enough, I hope to rent it again- I would recommend it, and I am willing to answer any questions about my experience.
Thank you! |
