My sister, niece (9 years old) friend, her two daughters (10 & 12) and I spent an amazing week at The Jewel of Cabo Pulmo in early June. Since our return, we have all commented how much we are dying to return - both to the Jewel and the Cabo Pulmo wonders. Where to start...?? Karl and Kimmie, the very kind and helpful hosts, went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The home and casita are, as many others have commented, far more beautiful than the photos can portray. The garden is so lovely. We saw at least 25 new species of birds while in the area, and about 20 of them were right in the yard! Waking up to to sounds of exotic birds was like being in another world. We had amazing snorkeling experiences both from shore (Mermaid and Arbolitos beaches) and from the boats. We did boat tours with Cabo Pulmo Divers (Pepe) and Eco Tours (Juan, Javier & Daniel). Both tours were wonderful, as were all of the owners/employees involved in both companies. We snorkeled at an amazing reef - the best coral & fish I've ever seen. We also swam with sea lions! On both tours, all of the guests were longing to see whale sharks, and the captians did their best to find them (one had been seen a couple of days prior to our arrival). No luck for us this trip. But, hopefully next time!! We also swam with HUGE schools of BIG fish, and a big school of bat rays, as well. Just amazing. Both tours hit the same areas. Had we been SCUBA divers, we would have gone with Janning's suggestion and used Cabo Pulmo Dive Center. We also loved walking the short path to the close beach for swimming. One of the most special things about Cabo Pulmo is how tiny the town is and how friendly the locals are. We felt very much a part of the town quite quickly. You can definitely walk everywhere. We even got invited to play in a volleyball game - Local Gringas (+ toursist) vs. Local Mexican women. We lost terribly, but it was so much fun! Oh, and, yes, the waterfall near Santiago is very worth the drive. I agree with the other guests who commented about how safe they felt in Cabo Pulmo. What more can I say? It's pure paradise. We can't wait to return! |

Julie asked me to add a correction that the enjoyable boat tour with Cabo Pulmo Divers was with "Paco." The name she used above is incorrect. -Janning

| My wife and I, and our two young children, enjoyed a beautiful and tranquil week at this remarkable home in Cabo Pulmo. The photos don't do justice to the natural beauty and architectural charm of this home and surrounding gardens. The community is well off the beaten path, ideal for anyone wanting a quiet week, free of tourist influences. Facinating granite rock formations nearby beg to be climbed and the snorkeling near Los Frailes beach is amazing. My 7 year old enjoyed a swim with the sea lions there. We highly recommend that day trip to the beautiful waterfall in the foothills of the mountian range near Santiago. The terrain and botany of this part of Baja is very distinctive, adding to the allure of being far from home (especially when home is wet Seattle). Karl and Kimmie are your caretakers and you couldn't be in more capable hands. Immmagine quiet desert nights illuminated by the glow of many lanterns around the veranda, under a star-filled sky, dining on fish caught hours earlier. The week left an indelible memory of a desert paradise. We will certainly be back. |

After a whirlwind visit to Cabo San Lucas over Thanksgiving with it's crowds, noise, and never-ending construction, we stopped at Wal-mart for groceries and headed for the peaceful town of Cabo Pulmo!!! As luck should have it, we had reserved the "Jewel of Cabo Pulmo." However, the name does not do it justice...It really should just be called " A Piece of Heaven!":+) My husband and I had found the perfect place to reconnect, laugh, relax, eat, drink margaritas (or sip tequila!)amongst the beauty and charm of this wonderful property. The owners and caretakers have literally committed to the phrase, "Mi Casa es Su Casa." The beds and linens were to die for, the gardens with all the butterfilies were stunning, and the people we met were fantastic! The really cool thing about this place is that there are little restruants, the Marin Reserve, water activities, and NICE people all at your doorstep - no need to get in the car and drive unless you really want to! I also agree with all the other posts from women about feeling VERY safe at Cabo Pulmo. We LOVED the outdoor shower and at night, our sleep was deep and peaceful..probably due to the warm breezes and the sounds of the ocean across the street! The Jewell of Cabo Pulmo is a destination everyone should visit in their lifetime. It is a true refection of the beauty and hospitality of Mexico and it's people. Now, if only I could win the lottery so I can go back sooner..:+) |

| What an amazing place! We were looking for a little sunshine fix before settling in for a long Montana winter and this was the absolute perfect place to find it. We stayed for nearly a full week - snorkeled nearly every day at the deserted Mermaid Beach, bought fresh red snapper from the fisherman at Los Frailes, cooked delicious dinners in the bright kitchen, watched stars from the rooftop deck, woke every day in a beautiful bedroom to birds chirping - it was total paradise! The house felt like home immediately and had everything you could possibly want. Karl and Kimmy, the local hosts, were very welcoming and friendly. We would highly recommend this as a great place for couples, families or a group of friends looking to spend some quality time together in a beautiful place off the beaten track. |

| The Jewel of Cabo Pulmo was the perfect place to get away from it all. We loved the house and the garden. Also the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils so we were able to cook our own meals. This place is the perfect retreat from hectic modern society. No phones, no TV, limited Internet access. You are away from it all. Cabo Pulmo is so relaxing - it is so different from the party atmosphere of Cabo San Lucas. One tip: be sure to rent a 4WD to get to Cabo Pulmo. Loved it, can't wait to go back! |

| Myself and 3 friends rented the "Jewel" over Halloween week. The house and casita are more charming than the photos show. So many artistic details, kitchen amenities more than complete. Managers Karl and Kim available and informative. Really felt safe-even the water! Beautiful garden. A suggestion-do not dive with Cabo Pulmo divers, I got very ill, probably CO2 in my air. The diving and snorkeling good though. We even got to see baby turtles released into the sea!! |

Homeowner Response:
Note - There are 2 dive shops with very similar names in Cabo Pulmo. We recommend "Cabo Pulmo Dive Shop" (located in the same building as the Coral Reef Restaurant). It is a different business from the one mentioned by Barbara above.

| My wife and I stayed at The Jewel of Cabo Pulmo from October 13 to 20, 2008 for our honeymoon. We found the house and it's surroundings to be better than we had ever hoped for. The glass windows were so clean that we felt as though there was no glass panes in the window frames! Everything worked in the house. Even though the house is on the main street/road thru town we felt as though we were in the middle of no where, which is what we were looking to experience. We stopped in San Jose Cabo to buy groceries and did little eating out. The kitchen really did have everything we needed to prepare wonderful meals. Before going but after reading about the house on the VRBO website we thot we would spend lot's of time on the roof top deck, but the covered, main level, porch is where we spent most of our time. And the roof top deck was great! We drove to a wonderful little lost waterfall with an equally wonderful swimming hole about 60 km's from the house near Santiago. We highly recommend the waterfall. The waterfall is not actually 'lost' as the land owner charges $6 usd per head to access it. It's worth more than that! We drove our rental Jeep on the beach everyday. We hardly ever saw anyone when driving or sitting on the beaches south of town. We felt safe every place in and around Cabo Pulmo, which was important to my wife, as she had never traveled outside of the USA. We will go back! |

| We (2 couples in our 50's) were the first renters at the Jewel of Cabo Pulmo in mid-March 2008. I enjoyed our stay there very much. The house and casita are absolutely darling, and the gardens are both delightful and beautiful! I was also very impressed with how helpful and friendly Karl and Kimmie (the local greeters/managers) were. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the description of the Jewel of Cabo Pulmo on the VRBO website was actually an understatement of what a great place they have there! I am grateful that I had the opportunity to experience it, and I hope to return in the future. |

This house, gardens and casita are a city dwellers delight! It is peaceful, extremely quiet and private, well appointed (even a coffee grinder and Cuisinart coffee maker, as well as filtered water in the tap)has lush, beautiful gardens surrounding the buildings, with garden art and sculptures, and a breathtaking ocean view from the rooftop patio, which includes an umbrella and adirondack chairs. Waking up there each morning was a delight because a multitude of birds are singing their different songs and the breezes blow through the trees and flowers, bringing a sweet scent through the multi-paned windows. As a single woman, I always look for vacations that are safe and relaxing and this is it! The house is a short walk (3 minutes?) to the water's edge, as well as the few charming restaurants, diving and snorkeling shops. The residents of Cabo Pulmo are friendly and helpful. The owners and house managers are thoughtful and accommodating. I'm bringing my family back here as soon as possible. Muchas gracias for one of the best vacations ever. |
