We just arrived home from 18 days of sunshine, surf, and too many shrimp. This was the first trip for our kids to see the place in Mazatlan, so we tried to do whatever they wanted...within reason. My son and his Dad went Marlin fishing and brought back a small 80 pound Marlin that afternoon. There are several opportunities to fish for anything from Mahi Mahi to Tuna and Marlin, so if you love to fish, or if you've always wanted to at least try it; Mazatlan is a great destination for you. My daughter and I loved just laying out at the beautiful beach in front of our 8th level condo at Quintas Del Mar. We bought a new TV for the condo and connected it through the stereo. We spent one day at "Joe's Oyster Bar", which we highly recommend now as a great hang out at the beach. Their are all sorts of watersports equipement available, including catamarans, jetskis, kayaks, and body boards. several vendors display what we thought were some of the finer goods available and the atmosphere was filled with fun and music. We enjoyed the nachos and tacos there and they had a wide assortment of refreshments. The catamarans were only $40 per hour and that came with a "captain". The jet ski my son rode by himself...at 12 years of age...was only $35 for a half an hour...$50 for two if his sister had tried it with him. Now she wants to do it next time we are there, so she can try it too. The whole time the kids were out on the water, we sat in the sun and watched the dolphins play out in the same area the watercraft were...our kids said they came within a foot from several dolphins on the catamaran. Most days we spent just enjoying our beach at Quintas. The beach is very long and we walked it most days. The small restaurant just up the beach two doors at Costa Bonita was a great resource for us for fantastic guacamole and salsa, plus we thouroughly enjoyed their very inexpensive breakfasts. We actually cooked or ate in our condo to save money over a long trip...it was great having a fully functional kitchen right there. We look forward to the day we can call this place our winter home, but until then all we can do is enjoy it when we can, and share the rest with you.
