Karen: just a quick note to let you know that we’re here in Loreto, at Rick’s house, and we’re having a splendid time. The house is just perfect for our purposes, and Loreto is charming. We are enjoying everything thoroughly. My mom is with us this week, and she was so impressed with your “travelogue”. It has been very helpful, right down to the produce shopping and restaurants. She thinks you should be in the travel guide business! Thanks so much for everything. We will be sorry to be leaving on Friday to return to La Paz, but we’ll be back, for sure! Take care.

| Four of us stayed the week after Christmas in Rick's house. We had a wonderful time. Rick was very helpful. All of the neighbors were also very nice. The house reflected real Mexico. It was very clean and comfortable. We sat on the porch and watched birds, saw a whale and enjoyed many hours of outdoor living. The resturants in town are excellent and the little one just down the street that lookes like someones living room with no signs had the best breafast. We loved being in a neighborhood instead of a big resort. We will return again. Rick's house is excellent. Thanks. Rita |

We just spent three weeks with another couple in this Beach House in Loreto Shores, Baja California Sur. The experience was so pleasant and affordable that we can’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else! We were a mere 20 steps away from the Sea of Cortez. As we relaxed in patio chairs, we gazed across the sparkling sea to both Coronado and Carmen islands, watched gulls, terns, cormorants, pelicans, and frigate birds diving for fish or skimming only a few inches above the water’s surface. We watched occasional snorkelers, and looked for the occasional fins and spouting of a whale or a line of 25 or more dolphins forming arcs above the water as they leapt and cavorted in a long line. An occasional yacht, sailboat, fishing boat, or cruise ship in the distance added to the ambiance. Relaxing? Totally!
The inside of the unit was very clean and is nicely furnished with carved pieces that remind one that this is Mexico, as well as comfortable leather couches, a recliner, and a large glass dining table with unique metal chairs. The beds are super comfortable with nice linens. Temperatures were in the comfortable 70s and low 80s during our stay in March, but the house has several air conditioners for the warmer times of the year. For entertainment there is a supply of books and magazines, as well as an extensive collection of VHS movies.
The kitchen is well furnished with all manner of eating and cooking utensils and small appliances. Best of all, the tap water is drinkable! There is also a typical large water bottle cooler/dispenser. The cupboards even contain basic spices, condiments, flour and oil. Frequently a local Mexican came by with fresh fish or clams for sale at very reasonable prices. When we didn’t feel like cooking, we walked the 10 or so blocks into the little community of Loreto to enjoy the local cuisine – always topped off with a visit to the ice cream store! Each Domingo (Sunday) there is an open-air market set up in an arroyo half-way to town where the local artisans, merchants, cooks, and farmers display their wares for sale.
Blooming bouganvillas, hibiscus, and oleanders all in many colors highlight the flowerbeds throughout the totally fenced and safe community of Loreto Shores. A tiled swimming pool is nearing completion for the use of all residents and renters. We heartily recommend Rick and Liz’s house, No. 102, as a wonderful vacation spot! They were so accommodating to all of us.

Dear Rick, March 18, 2008
We have just arrived home after spending a successful month in your seaside house. Time went all too fast. We would highly recommend your place to all of our friends and family and we hope to return again next year! Your spacious casa slept 8 easily, was completely furnished with all the accomodations we needed. The weather was so constantly comfortable. One of our favorite times was early morning on the beach patio, drinking coffee or eating breakfast. We enjoyed the sunrise at times or just viewing the magnificent views. It was an easy 20 minute walk to town or one could take a $4.00 taxi back to the house. Food (yummy oranges, fresh produce, shrimp, fish fillets or clams were easy to buy at the Sunday Farmers Market (very close, easy walk). We had fun sampling the inexpensive, but very good restaurants in town. The park manager was very, very helpful in arranging fishing or just boat tours. We enjoyed the opportunity to observe a wide variety of marine life and we were fascinated by the abundance and variety of bird life. We would choose your house over any other place in Loreto.
