First off, I would like to say this is absolutely a steal. I arrived on April of this year and was met by the property manager, who was, with his family, absolutely wonderful. This first thing I did after I got my car from Allied Car and Truck Rentals, in Aguada, was go and get groceries from the local supermarkets ( Mr. Especial & Pitusa). You really need to drive when you come to PR. All the sites are in remote areas. The house was beautiful. The air conditioner will definitely keep you cool. It is very clean, has everything you need as a vacation home, and is very, very cozy. What struck me was the complete lack of insects, i.e., flies, spiders, etc. There are plenty of small lizards outside which probably feed on any insects. The yard has grapefruit, mango, lime, banana and coconut trees. At the time I was there most fruit was just maturing. You have DirecTV (in Spanish) but, there are plenty of English speaking stations, including the major five networks. The beach is about 150 yards up the road. Most of the time I was there the surf was pretty strong for swimming, however, there were two days where it was calm enough do do some serious snorkeling. As stated by the owner, the neighborhood is rural. Being an old country boy this was a warm welcome to me now that I am living in NYC. The temperature was 80-85 during the day and 75-80 at night. As I said, a beautiful place to call home. You will need GPS to move around, especially if you do not speak some Spanish.
The eight days I was there I traveled from one end of the island to the other. Purto Rican driving is unlike anything I have experienced but, fun. I went from the Rainforest on the East coast to the Mayaguez zoo on the West. From Crashboat Beach on the Northeast Coast to the El Parguera Bioluminecent Bay on the Southwest coast. Arecibo Observatory was beautiful and the many Lighthouses along the coastlines were breathtaking. I still had many places left unvisited when I left. I will be coming back. I would love to tell anyone wishing to come to PR about this vacation home and my experiences in PR. Please call. |
