The cottage was far better than we dared to dream! We came to the cottage as two couples and had a spacious amount of space. We arrived a little after midnight and was Greeted with a fresh fruit basket and muffins, what a nice welcoming to such a beautiful island. The pool was so relaxing after a day out in the sun. The cottage itself was immaculate, the grounds peaceful and relaxing and every attention has been paid to all the small details that change the ordinary to extraordinary. Thank You Gay & Beth for taking the time to give us directions to Sams and showing us another rental property. Am sure we will be returning to Lankai in the future visits to the Aloha Island. Thank You, Clark & Kim |

| Our family stayed in this cottage for 5 nights from 5/28 - 6/2/05. I cannot tell you what a lovely experience it was. The cottage was far better than we dared to dream! The owners were gracious hosts, yet we felt that we had total privacy in our own little "home". The cottage itself was immaculate, the grounds peaceful and relaxing and every attention has been paid to all the small details that change the ordinary to extraordinary. From the beautiful landscaping and interior to that fact that you could always find just the kitchen utensil you were looking for, Hale Ihalani truly is a House of Heavenly Splendor. During our two weeks in Hawaii we rented 3 different homes, but this was by far our very favorite and only hope that we can return SOON! |

Have returned home 8 days before and still lived in the happy memories of Kailua! Nearest beach from Hale Ihilani is clean, beautiful and fine white beach, which is the best beach I have ever experienced! Hale Ihilani have every thing to enjoy beach life. The cottage and the garden are well cleaned and we could enjoy our best holidays. Thanks Gay and Dave! Our family will never forget your heart-warming welcome.

Dear Gay and Dave,
We just want to take a moment to thank you once again for the wonderful time we had in your beautiful home. Of the four places we stayed during our vacation, yours was by far the most relaxing and comfortable. I guess our trip was “downhill from Kailua” (not really – we thoroughly enjoy our sixteen days in the three islands we visited.)
While I’m sure you will see this entry, I really would like to direct my comments to anyone considering your home for their stay. All I can say is that you should look no further! Kailua is a beautiful town and its location is central to many of the places that you will probably visit. Unless your plan is to sit on Waikiki beach, you will most likely spend time exploring the island and its many beaches and sites. As a result, access to the major roads and highways is important and Kailua is a good base of operation.
I can assure you that the property is clean and well maintained and that it’s description is accurate, even down to all the amenities that are provided. Being somewhat skeptical, I arrived with my owner cooler, beach towels, and mats. These were all unnecessary. Rest assured that they have everything you need for your stay on the island.
If I were asked to list a few things about Hale Ihilani that impressed me or made my stay special I would mention the following:
The Welcome Basket – when we arrived we found two baskets filed with coffee, fruit, and treats. While the family enjoyed all the goodies, I carried my bag of Kona coffee with me through out my stay and shared the remainder in my home with guests this weekend. It was a special gift from Gay and Dave to me!
The Linens – Gay and Dave have placed the very best linens and towels in the home. It was so nice to have the thickest, nicest beach towels for our days at the beach. When Gay saw me laundering them one evening, she told me not to bother and returned which a fresh set for the next day. I felt like I was staying at a high priced resort.
The Maps – Gay and Dave have a large assortment of tour guides and maps. One book that turned out to be invaluable was a map book, which detailed ALL the towns and streets on the island. Since our travels covered the whole island, we kept it with us at all the time. Without it I suspect we would have spent many hours trying to find our way home.
The Pool – the pool is truly for your exclusive use, and Dave keeps it pristine and clean. For my daughters, swimming here was one of the major highlights of their vacation. Only in their wildest dreams could them imagine having a pool to themselves.
Again, thank you Gay and Dave for everything. Hopefully our vacation plans will take us back to Hawaii and when they do, we will surely be staying with you.
To those persons considering this property, please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like a reference and/or additional comments.
Sincerely, Cathy Tomey |

Dear Gay & Dave, Thank you so much for everything! This is an adventure for us and we think that it was the best stay we could imagine! We're beginning to feel like this is home to us. I've never stayed in a cottage before and it's really fun!
I really liked swimming in the pool and I like how you let out the bunnies all day and you let them chew on the leaves, plants, etc. The geckos were really funny too! My favorite part of Oahu was the beauty of Oahu! Thank you so much!

Dear Gay & Dave, We have felt so much at home for the 5 weeks we have been here. Now we will be life long friends, first thru e-mails and in the future as your neighbors. Hawaii has captured our hearts, partly due to your gracious hospitality. You truly have the "aloha spirit".
Shayna wants to thank you for sharing your bunnies and guinea pig with her too. Your cottage is cozy and very comfortable.

Dear Gay and Dave, Thanks so much for all you did to make our vacation stay a truly delightful and memorable experience. The accomodations couldn't have been more beautiful nor more functional and all of the extras touches, such as first rate snorkeling equipment and detailed maps of everywhere we might want to go were so useful. The neighborhood was lovely and felt quite safe to walk around and we so loved starting the day with a dip in the pool! aloha and mahalo to you, the Dolan's -- Dawn Dolan
