Oh, how wonderful!
This was our first full-family vacation (grandparents, their adult children, and grandchildren), and the cabin offered everything we were looking for--proximity to Yellowstone (5-10 minutes down the road from driveway), nearness to a town for essentials (laundry, guides, and grocer), but secluded to be on our own when we wanted. The cabin, with its four bedrooms, is spacious enough for a full family, and the good times spill out onto the back porch to drink in the picturesque landscape to the west (I think). We saw hundreds of elk and mule deer out the back windows, along with the ranchers' livestock. We, too, spent one morning hiking up the back ridge (longer than it looks). My handheld GPS said we'd walked about 2.5 miles to the top of the ridge. It was amazing with the last of the spring snow in the hollows and less-exposed ridges.
The cabin owners were so helpful and accommodating, and they gave great information and advice on any topic we asked about. I felt more like visitor than a customer.
I can't say enough about this property and how much I loved our vacation. I don't know that there was one thing about the rental that was disappointing; I know you won't be. Oh, to go back today!
PS - There were reports in the journal about other families seeing bears on their visits, but we never did. . . until we left. On our last day, as we left the cabin at 5:00 in the morning, we came upon a HUGE black bear on the drive down. He was less than 50 feet away (we were in the safety of our SUV). He was lumbering down the drive, heard and saw us, turned around and stared for a few seconds, then bounded up the hill. It was amazing how quick and nimble such a large animal was as it run up the hill into the woods. GO! |

I could not have said it better than the Vines. So many details taken care of, and NO TV or internet! Yay!! Our extended family of 9 had a wonderful time doing so many different things together, and discovering the crazy variety of terrain, animal and plant life. This was one of a series of trips we are taking with our 81 year old mother, thanks to her distribution of an annuity after our father's passing. Since they had saved it for travel, we decided to use the money to travel with Mom to places she wants to see. It was very special to spend our Yellowstone vacation at your gorgeous hide-away. An additional activity a few of us did was to climb one of the mountains in back of the ranch house. It was a 2 hour (?) climb to the rock cairn at the top through horse paths, blooming prickly pear, and incredible views all the way to Yellowstone. There just isn't any way our mid-July 2009 vacation could have been better. |

| We would highly recommend this cabin for a wonderful 'home base' to your Montana vacation. From the moment the owners met us in town and led us 20 minutes up into the mountain basin to our cabin, to when we got out of our car to take in the breathtaking mountain views in a 360 degree surround, we knew we were in for a beautiful vacation. The accomodations were very comfortable--bunk beds for the kids, and two very spacious and mountain-view master bedrooms and private baths for the adults. The back porch and picnic table were so relaxing and restful--almost hard to leave the horses, view, and cabin to explore Yellowstone. The highlight of our week was hiking up one of the 3 mountains in the backyard--we came back 4 hours later refreshed and exhilirated! Our kids said it was their 'favorite' thing we did (and I think its hard to compete with Yellowstone)! Feeding and petting the horses and colts was a real treat--so graceful, peaceful and friendly. One of the most unexpected blessings was the inability for all of the teens to 'text' and 'be connected'! We actually got to spend time playing games and talking with them! A rare reprieve from all of the technology we're surrounded by 24/7. The cabin was clean, the owners checked in with us and made sure multiple times that EVERYTHING was in top working order, and that we lacked for nothing. Fresh eggs in the mornings delivered by the Stermitz boys were amazing. What a charming family, delightful hosts, well-organized cabin, and wonderful vacation home. With so many little details thought of by the owners, after 7 years of renting from VRBO, this was one of the best vacation rentals we have had. Wonderful memories and a great place relax in after time at Yellowstone, white water rafting, horseback riding, or hiking. We were thrilled with our week at the Ranch, and can't wait to return someday! Thank you! |

| We stayed in this house from July 5 - July 11, 2009. We truly enjoyed out entire stay. We really liked that the house was back in the mountains with plenty of peace and quiet. The house filled all of our needs and more. The house was in beautiful condition. Thank you for sharing with us. The Richardson and Gardiner Families from Crosby, TX. |

If you like true solitude, extraordinary views and a combination of rustic & elegant, this is a must stay. My husband, our 12-year-old daughter & her friend, met my sister, her husband and grown children for 8 days of heaven. The ranch had 2 foals, a most sociable cat, history, animals both domestic & wandering through, comfortable beds, and warm, helpful & welcoming hosts -- who live on another part of the ranch. Much thought and great taste was used to make this cabin a home- away-from-home -- and the herd of horses (and Hillary, the mule) made the trip for our girls. Highly recommend this place. |

| 6 of us (including 2 young children)stayed here for 2 nights last summer and wish it could have been longer. The preoperty is in a gorgeous location with views of surrounding peaks to all sides. In the evening, we saw a large herd of elk heading down the mountain, deer scampered across the meadow in front of us and some of us thought we heard distant wolves in the very early morning. The home is comfortably decorated and we enjoyed sitting out on the back deck to eat dinners. Kitchen was well equipped, plenty of comfortable bed space. It's up in the mountains and about a 20 or so minute drive to get up to the ranch so you feel very isolated which is lovely. The children enjoyed the horses, especially the beautiful new foal. We'd love to be able to stay here again- it's a winner |
