Dear Doug and Beverly-Thank you so much for our wonderful stay at the Garden Cottage. We really enjoyed snorkeling at Ke'e, tunnels and St. Regis Beach, visiting the lighthouse, farmer's market and the shops in Hanalei, hiking to the first beach on the NaPali coast, visiting the Lumahuli Gardens and still so much we didn't see. You have a beautiful and peaceful spot here in the "wilds" of Haena. Best wishes, John & Sandy Vanderwel Ricmond, BC Canada

The Garden Cottage was just perfect. My husband & I had a wonderful week here in Kauai. We snorkeled, hiked Kalalau Trail (1st 2 miles), took a zodiac boat tour to NaPali, Kayaked the Wialua river to Secret Falls, relaxed, shopped and just loved being here. We also did the luau at the Sheridan in Poipu and loved it. Many wonderful things to see here. Thank You!Mike & Chris Krupansky PS Thanks special to Patricia!!

Our two seek stay here at the Garden Cottage was exactly what we were looking for as a place to stay on our Honeymoon. We had plenty of time to explore the island and we are now sure that the North sore is the best! we have made many happy memories in Kauai that will remain with us forever. Some highlights & recommendations: Tour of Na Pali Coast with Kauai Sea Tours was great! Kayaking Snorkeling Waimea canyon, check out lookout at Kalalau Valley-very well worth it Couples massage at Hanalei Day Spa
Good places to eat: Bakery in Hanalei Sushi in Ching Young Village Java Kai Shave Ice-Princeville Shopping-next to grocery store.
Thanks for a great stay! Laura & David Ottawa/Toronto & Ontario Canada
PS-good beach (our favorite) was Anini Beach. Also, Queen's Bath is very cool but don't attempt if not physically fir it is all muddy and steep climb on the way back up and very steep down as well but if you're up for it , it was very awesome. We wore flip-flops which were clearly the wrong footwear.

We loved the Garden Cottage & Kauai! The proximity to the beach and Tunnels for sunset was perfect. Our favorite was Kahalahala??-off at Lumahai Beach. Excellent. Loved the Na Pali Coast hike & the views off at Waimea Canyon. Outstanding. Also recommend a trip to Koipu falls in the south. Overall our stay here in Kauai has been wonderful. Thank you Patricia for your wonderful suggestions. All the best, David & Ericka Geary Vancouver, BC

Like the last couple, we spent the 1st part of our honeymoon in Maui. After 4 days there, we came to Kauai where we spent 2 days at a Bed & Breakfast on the south shore and then 4 days here in the Garden Cottage on the North Shore. I loved it all, but I think the romanticism of the Garden Cottage coupled with its awesome locale on the North Shore made it our favorite. Only complaints were the rooster and the mosquitoes (the latter were particularly unfun in the shower-ouch!) Still, this was a perfect honeymoon hideaway. We thought we'd be laying around the pool the whole time in Maui and then active here with all the hiking, etc. in Kauai, but we definitely caught the "Aloha" spirit of the north shore. Still, we did the Kalalau trail which was well worth it! Patricia is very helpful and we are glad we took her advice on both the Hanalai Gourmet and Mediterranean Gourmet - both delicious! M.G. is right down the street & they have live music & 1/2 priced bottle of wine on Wednesday night. It also has great views you can walk to a nice night (It was raining when we went, so we drove) Beaches: we went to Ke'e, Tunnels, Hideaway and would recommend all. Ke'e was the calmest for swimming/snorkeling, but Tunnels stays shallow further out and has better coral for snorkeling. Ke'e has beautiful sunsets. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. Thanks for opening up this fabulous little gem to us! Mahalo, Katy & Ken Washington DC

After spending the first half of our honeymoon in Maui, we came here for the last 5 days and fell in love with this island! The Garden Cottage has been absolutely perfect for us as well-what a great hideaway. Using the outdoor shower in the rain was especially amazing! We enjoyed the beaches in the area and sitting on the beach across the road at sunset drinking champagne. We went to the lighthouse in Kilauea and had fun exploring the area. Yesterday we went out on a catamaran to see the Na Pali Coast - so beautiful! Saw many dolphins (even some bottlenose dolphins which aren't as common in the area), snorkeled and enjoyed the beauty around us. Pricey but ery fun! Hiked a few miles on the Kalalau trail today, but very slippery when muddy. We loved every minute of our time here and will definitely be back! Thank you for such an amazing stay! we came for our honeymoon and I think we explored the entire island! Beautiful place! Rented scooters in Lihue and explored the waterfalls, fun, fun! We did the Na Pali tour off the North coast, it was great. Saw turtles and dolphins. Also ziplines in Princeville were fantastic! Did ATV tour and it was O.K. and not worth the money. Overall great time, cute cottage and got used to the roosters. Liked the outdoor shower but ready for a long bath and thank you so much!

We loved our stay here at the Garden Cottage! Absolutely beautiful-especially loved the outdoor shower! Lots of rain but the waterfalls coming down the mountains as a result were spectacular. Hiking the Kalalau Trail, kayaking on the Hanalei river were fantastic. Delicious breakfast at Wake Up Cafe (macadamia nut cinnamon rolls are to die for), fantastic dinner at Kalypso, drinks and great live music at Tahiti Nui. Thanks for all the special touches in the cottage-perfect for us! We're off to the South coast for the next couple of days, then back to NC. This island is beyond words, our first trip and definitely not our last. Thanks for everything. Holly Hallman & Mark Nippua, Salem & Raleigh, NC

We stayed in the Garden Cottage for 2 weeks of our 6 week stay on Kauai. We thought the first two weeks on the Wailua River would be hard to beat but the Garden Cottage was every bit as enjoyable in different ways. Now we regret having to move on to our next place in a condo near Kapa'a. Patricia is a character and we greatly enjoyed visiting with her & getting her "locals" perspective on Hawaii living. We wondered about the outdoor shower when we first arrived but now we wish we could take it all with us. Thanks so much for a great 2 weeks. Diane & Gary Rovig Laramie, WY

The perfect place to spend our delayed honeymoon! We loved the Beach Cottage, it had all the amenities we needed and all of the privacy and beauty we wanted. Our favorite things to do while staying here were to snorkel at Tunnels Beach, hike the Napali Coast and grill our dinner every night! Patricia was a huge resource to us! We saw the best rainbow while watching the sunset at end of the road or Ke'e Beach. We loved taking the chairs across the street to watch the waves roll in and look at the stars. We loved Secret Beach, Queen's Bath, and the Lighthouse. We saw spinner dolphins at the lighthouse, sea turtles and stingrays at tunnels and a monk seal at Kapa. We do not recommend Limahuli Garden. We saw much better foliage on the trail. We hiked to the arboretum, Napali Coast and sleeping Giant. The hike to the falls along the coast was excellent but hard and long. The hikes in the arboretum are really pretty and easy. We loved our time here and the Garden Cottage was just perfect for us. We hope to return someday!

Listening to the crickets chirp and the sound of ocean waves crashing just yonder is a great way to conclude our honeymoon at your lovely Garden Cottage. Our stay was definitely too short (though we won't miss the mosquitoes). You have a wonderful relaxing haven here hidden amongst jewels of beaches and hikes. the four miles to Hanakaplai Falls is well worth the trip and snorkeling at Ke'e and Tunnels was fantastic. Go to Queen's Bath if you want to spend hours watching sea turtles. thanks to Doug and Beverly for welcoming us to their home and paradise. We will be sure to return in the future.

Thank you for a peaceful and inviting place! Teak Room and Garden Cottage were great. BBQing and having beverages in the evening after long days being active was a real treat. We felt like we were all by ourselves. Thanks again. We will be back! P.S. If you can kayak the Napali DO IT! Was the best part of our trip so far.. dolphins, turtle, waterfalls, AWESOME!!

This has been all we could ask for in a cozy, "quiet" and private cottage. The week passed so quickly but gave us time to go to the beach everyday to swim, snorkel and just be in the sun. There is a familiarity to this place that welcomed us and offered a peace that envelops a person. The crow of the roosters, cooing doves and the bird songs are such a comforting way to wake up. Patricia is a jewel. Thank you. P.S. We will be back.

We escaped a week of 35 degrees and rain in Michigan, so how could we be anything but happy? this trip was especially meaningful since it was both a (8-month belated) honeymoon and the first proper holiday we've taken together. Lots of rain gave us an excuse to visit Waimea canyon (hiked canyon ditch trail), Poipu, east side...But despite all the driving we were happy that we chose to stay up here in the north. The waves put us to sleep, the roosters counteracted the waves.... now it's back to real life, but with a million great memories to recall when things get too slow! Thanjk You!

The Garden Cottage is a delight. Even though it has been unseasonably cold (even the locals think so) we have had a marvelous time. Sunset at Ke'e beach, walks on the beach, swimming at Tunnels, eating at the resort. All wonderful. The outdoor shower is a treat. Patricia is wonderful and a great resource for information. 12/30/08 What can we say? That we greatly enjoyed the Garden Cottage? That the part of the Na Pali hike we did was extremely muddy but breathtaking? That is was absolutely outstanding to get sandy feet after just crossing the road? That here should be more bridges of that kind preventing heavy traffic to get to awesome sceneries like that? That we will miss the silence at night? That an outdoor shower was a superb idea? That the roosters behaved well? That...Ok, we just said it. Kauai’s North Shore left an unremovable impact & it will be hard to top... Thanks to Patricia for all her hints & suggestions and the spontaneous barbecue. Ulli & Greia Munich, Germany

11/11/08 We truly enjoyed our stay in the Garden Cottage. It has made for a wonderful honeymoon and a great way to unwind. Last night we took advantage of the grass and back deck..how romantic, especially when it began to rain. Take a stop by the Blue Dolphin fish market and pick up Opa (moonfish) and marinated it in soy Vay. It was tasty on the grill. Snorkeling at Tunnels was great and hiking Kalalau Trail to the beach was slippery but worth all the mud in the end. Thank your so much for creating a relaxing and enjoyable stay for us. 10/2008 Mahalo for a lovely time on this property. Staying in the Teak Room the night before embarking on the awe inspiring and arduous Kalalau trail was a great help. Returning after the experience of a life time was wonderful. we simply melted into the sweet garden cottage. Perhaps the most welcoming aspect, however, has been Patricia’s assistance. She’s given wonderful advise and accomodation. We’ve loved our time here. Loved the outdoor shower. Best wisher, Julie & Angela CA

We particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower in paradise, and are trying to make a plan on how to build one in Alaska!
