From the moment that we opened the gate and stepped onto the property, we were in paradise. The courtyard flowers were in bloom and the pool was inviting. Walking up the front steps, we could see through the living room to the beautiful, inviting sea. Under the gentle waves were many creatures that we would discover in our numerous snorkeling adventures; spotted eagle rays, eels, French angelfish, stingrays, and wrasse, to name but a few. (How wonderful it was to wake up totally rejuvenated from a sound sleep and dive beneath the waves and see such things!)
The house was so well appointed and the snorkeling so fantastic that we had little reason to leave. One of our finest adventures, though, was set up by Bruno, the house manager extraordinaire, who arranged for a boat to take our family of five out to the reef. This was without a doubt, the best of all possible underwater worlds. We were picked up in front of the house and took a five minute boat ride to the reef. At the reef we were guided, as required, through and around the coral. Our children were completely entranced by the schools of fish they saw; blue tang, damselfish, along with rays and barracuda and many other fish. The boat operator and the guide were both most helpful and great with the kids, and enthusiastic about the reef and fish. It was an unforgettable adventure, and worth many times what Bruno had negotiated for us.
There is much to do in the area; we visited the ruins at Coba, swam in the cenotes, and dined in Puerto Morelos. We could easily have spent a month there and still left feeling as we did; looking forward to our return to discover more about the area, and knowing that such a great house could be home for a short time. |

Our stay at the Villa Encantamar, was wonderful and very relaxing. Having the oppurtunity to use the Vontage phone was a great way to be able to check in with the pet sitters and family members back at home. We were amazed at how many small restaurants there were to try in Puerto Morelos. We did order bread from Momma's Cafe a couple of days and also had breakfast there the morning we left, Very good!! We did snorkel one day, what a treat that was to have the boat pick us up right in front of the house!! Bruno was wonderful, so lucky to have some one available for any concerns or help. One suggestion, would be a bgger outside BBQ. Look forward to returning back and stay at the Villa Encantamar!
