my wife and i just returned from 2 wonderful nights in this delightful, cozy and very cool apt. we walked nearly every street in OSJ and this was the most beautiful, tree-lined and oldest street of all. having the 2nd floor balcony was fantastic for the breezes and people (tourist) watching. great location, great price and betty is THE GREATEST!!would strongly recommend and we would return here in a heartbeat.

Stayed there in October, 2008 and had an absolutely perfect time. The location is central to everything in Old Town but not on a highly-trafficed street. Plenty of great restaurants and sites within walking distance.
The apartment itself was exactly what we needed - a place that assured privacy with the old world thick wood doors/windows (which could be opened facing the sidewalk to enjoy the night).
The hosts are a wealth of information and take superb care of their guests. The highest praise I can give a place is that I'd stay there again. And I hope I will! |

We stayed in the apartment for 3 days when we first got to P.R. We loved the location and the owners were terrific. We highly recommend it.

Super fantastic location with museums, food and shopping with-in blocks. Hands down better service than at a hotel, and they have a shop next door so it is really easy to ask a question or address any issues. If you are looking for a place in Old San Juan look no further.

Stay here. We hunted around, and came to the conclusion this was the best option, and it exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the upstairs apartment, "the cobblestone". It's old world with all the contemporary comforts, and they provide better service than most hotels. Great maid service, with fresh linens and towels every day, and they even did our laundry. The apartment itself is so damn cool. Betsy and Gustavo have great taste, and make sure you have everything you need, right down to some mosquito repellant. It is an authentic, loft style apartment, with very high ceilings. It has three large French doors that open onto a long balcony that overlooks the cobblestone street below. It’s great for having your coffee in the morning, or wine in the evening (or morning). The kitchen and bath areas are, again, so tastefully done, and fully equipped (dishwasher, washer, dryer). The bed is super comfortable, the AC, and ceiling fans work great, and there is even a 42" flat screen HDtv mounted on the wall. The only drawback is you'll want to hang out there, and not see the town-but we did. It has to be the best location in Old San Juan- across from the El Convento, and literally is up the street from “the Door of Old San Juan”(the main gate through the old military wall that surrounds the town).. You are within a few minutes walk of all the great sites, best restaurants, supermarkets and shops. When you consider the style, comfort and location, it is hard to beat.

This apartment is a wonderful find. Very comfortable, Satillite TV, Internet access, and maid service. The Hosts Betsy and Gustave have a list of things to do and places to stay including favorite Restaurants sorted by expence. They also have a shop nearby if you need any addition information. We had a wonderful time and would strongly recommend

This place ooozes with coolness!! My son and I stayed for 3 nights in May. Great experience. Betsy and Gustavo are gracious hosts. They renovated this unit in January. If you want to stay in Old San Juan, this is by far the best location - next to Cathedral, El Murro, and El Convento. 2 blks away is Plaza des Armas, where you'll find Walgreens, supermarket and 24-hr coffee/sandwich kiosk. The only downside is lack of soundproofing between floors - you may hear people in the upstairs unit when they walk around. Just bring ear plugs and you'll be fine.

Homeowner Response:
Thanks Darell I am very glad you enjoyed the apartment and Old San Juan.
This building was originally built around 1800s and in those day there was no soundproofing. Unfortunately, due to the regulations of the Institue of Culture we are tied up in the type of things that we can change. Since this building is a brick structure some noises can be heared but we are working on releaving those inconvenieses. I deepely apologize for this inconvenience and I hope you visit Puerto Rico again!
