We (an American couple in our early 30s) spent most of July 2009 here, using the house as a home base for our travels around the Loir Valley. We had a fantastic time frequenting the local market, exploring the picturesque nearby towns, celebrating 14 Juliet, dancing in the squares, and walking everywhere! Trôo has remarkable history and engaging local color. We cooked often and were able to accommodate groups for dining outside on the terrace. The lifestyle is bucolic and convivial, with much to do within an hour drive: chateaux, wineries, gardens, churches, art exhibits and lovely villes fleurs. There's a great public pool 5 miles away for lap swimming with a separate play area for kids. Lessons are available. Stay awhile and get to know the community from your home away from home.

We stayed at this home for two weeks in August with our 3-year-old daughter. We all enjoyed the house and especially the back garden, the town of Troo, and the many places to take day trips. The owners are very attentive and do many things to make sure their guests have an enjoyable stay. The house is well-maintained and very comfortable. Our daughter loved the back garden, the river, and the ducks. There is a park with a playround just across the bridge, a short walk away. All in all, a very relaxing time and great value for the money.

We were very pleased with our stay at this holiday home. The home was well appointed and beautifully located. The owner went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was positive. This included a telephone call the day we arrived, having the neighbors check on us, supplying maps to popular destinations, as well as suggestions for dining and entertainment. Our children really enjoyed the comfort and character of this home, and rural setting. We highly recommend this holiday home for a truly positive experience in the Loir Valley. We look forward to visiting this home again in the near future.

I've stayed here twice and had a fantastic time. I enjoyed have a base where I could relax after a day of site-seeing, cook a meal and sip a glass of wine sitting on the terrace while looking across the river. There is a wonderful market in Montoire where you can get all manor of fresh food for your stay. Walking up to the top of the hill where the old town sits gives you a splendid view of the surrounding country side. Saint Jacques just a short walk across the river has twelfth century frescoes on it's walls. I can't wait to go back again

I have stayed in this home numerous times and have had a wonderful experience every time I visited. I love that the house includes a garden right on the river! I always come back more relaxed than when I arrived. The owners take great care of the property and are responsive to your needs. I'd highly recommend it as a place to unwind. |

What a delightful surprise! We travel a great deal, have stayed in multitude of assorted accomodations but this became one of our favourites. To be truly in the countryside, in a Troglodyte village and right next to a river, plus all the available amenities!!! The home is very comfortable and the surrounding area holds constant surprises and discoveries. Hiking, bicycling with lots of trails and beautiful countryside. Cultural sites all easily reached by car, are abundant. This is a weekend get-away place for many, including Parisians. The calm and prettiness must be just some of the elements which draw them. The owners are very accomodating and helpful in every way and the price is certainly reasonable! We hope to enjoy this area again.
