I must concur that this cottage is an excellent home inside and out - very classy. Upon entering the home it became immediatley clear that this was a labor of love for the owners. Individual attention has been paid to the smallest detail throughout, with clearly a artistic eye for proportion and taste diligently applied.
The location is ideal. Just look at the map. You can walk to riverwalk, or if you are lazy like me, it is a $5 taxi ride (taxis are very easy to get).
The kitchen is ideal for chefs. All the traditional necessary kitchen gear is tucked/hung neatly and conveniently in its place. Pots and pans off all sizes and materials (along with lids) are hung/stored near the stove and sink. The spice rack is complete. The owners have bottled a number of infused oils, including cilantro, basil and others, and it is clear that it is fresh. All greases/oils are at hand. Cutlery is Henckels. Full complement of recipe books, including James Beard, Paula Deen, accompanied by Sotheby's wine guide and other relevant dinner and wine materials. There is a mixer, fondue et, waffle/crepe maker, bread maker, blender, toaster, all the hand mixers, spoons and what not that you need. The drawers are full of new items like cheese grater, slicers, dicers, openers, thermometers, scoops, rolling pins and other useful kitchen utensils. The appliances, including stove, micro and dishwasher, are all modern. The coffee machine and grinder are set with excellet central american coffee supplies as well as Gevalia.
The bathroom is artistic in every respect. The sink sits on an antique japanese pedastal. The showers and floors are marble and stone. The toilet is environmentally-friendly, allowing for half flush.
The laundry room has a new washer and dryer. Plenty of closet space, shelving and hangers.
The bed is extremely comfortable. The bedding of high quality.
The living room has a thirty - forty inch flat screen, surround sound and full cable package with on-demand movie service. A full complement of around 30 DVDs is provided, ranging from older but lovable titles to new releases.
The living room is cozy with comforable furniture.
Ouside, great expense appears to have been spent on the cozy gardens complete with a large coy pond and a hot tub. Lots of seating and tables are tastefully arranged in the area.
The owners have been extremely hospitable and generally concerned that I as a "guest" am happy. They genuinely care that you are enjoy your stay and are more attentive than most hotel staff. Yet they do so in an unobtrusive, polite and tasteful manner.
Of my 30 or so stays at VRBO properties, I would say this one ranks the highest, paricularly when considering relative price for the area (near million dollar mansions). Obviously, I highly recommend it for short-term and long-term rental. Personally, my stay was for 8 days. Good travels and good luck. |

| My fiance and I spent a beautiful weekend at the cottage in March '09. Fantastic bathroom, kitchen and interior; great creature comforts (the most comfortable bed ever). The grounds and landscaping are lush and perfect for spending time outside. The best part was walking around the neighborhood during the First Friday art activities - galleries open late, live music, artist street vendors, and great food. We will be back! |
