We spent the first week of October here and what a great place to spend time in a very nice area of Venice. Antonio was very helpful. The apartment is spacious and well equipped with WiFi and washing machine. We had a wonderful time exploring the less frequented areas of Venice and returning to "our own Venetian home" to relax and plan our next day's adventure. Of course we had to have our coffee and gelato at Causin's in Campo Santa Margherita. Since we like to cook, selecting fresh local ingredients from the local markets provided us with a true taste of Venice. The supermarket that is close by provided us with good inexpensive wine. We highly recommend this apartment, and hope someday to return. Thank you Antonio for providing us with such a nice place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at Antonio's charming little house at the end of October. The weather could not have been better - warm and sunny; we had gelati everyday (around the corner at Grom's for their organic sorbets using seasonal fruits and ingredients and El Doge's at Campo San Margherita). Antonio picked us up at the Vaporetto stop and within 5 or 6 minutes we arrived at the house. Down a quiet, little lane, the house is the perfect getaway after a mad day of sightseeing and shopping. We love the bedroom which has windows on the both north and south side that allow in plenty of sunlight and made getting up such a delight. Because San Barnaba is so central we could come home every afternoon to rest or nap before heading out again in the evening. When we didn't feel like going out for dinner, we bought cooked dishes from the local supermarket's deli section - homemade and absolutely delicious. Another recommendation is the wonderful teashop Fujiyama just 3 minutes from the house (come out of the lane turn left). The owners together speak 6 languages including Chinese and Japanese and their teas are premium quality brought back from forrays to China and Japan. It's a favorite among the local students. We love the house and will recommend it to all our friends.

The apartment was perfectly located in the heart of beautiful Venice but away from the tourists & noise. Two convenienent Vaparretto stops within a 2 minute walk, right by the Campo Barnaba & lively Campo Santa Margerita. The unit was small but very clean. We stayed in early September & found the cost for 3 nights to be quite high - maybe sticker shock at being in Venice. But still high for the apartment itself. Antonio was helpful & met us at the Vaparetto stop as promised.

This is a wonderful house in a fabulous location. We felt very much part of the local neighborhood; the house is incredibly quiet and off the tourist trail, but you're right by a couple of very nice campos with lots going on, and the main tourist spots are all very easily walkable. It's also an easy walk to Piazzale Roma for buses, trains, etc. out of town and to the airport. You're right by the Traghetto -- pay 50 cents for a gondola ride across the canal!!
We stayed at the house as a family of four with two kids (8 and 11); it was very comfortable for a week. I'd guess the house is about 8-900 square feet, so it's not huge, but having two floors gives some separated living areas.
The house is equipped with everything -- the kitchen has every utensil you could imagine, there are all the sheets, blankets, towels, etc. you could ever want. It was spotlessly clean when we stayed. Antonio is a great host, and the neighbors are friendly too. If you go, be sure to visit Il Doge for the best gelato, and Pizza al Volo for delicious "diavolo" spicy salami pizza! Both are 2 minutes from the house. This house is a great base for exploring Venice and not feeling like a tourist!

My sister and I stayed here for a week in March. The apartment and Antonio were very pleasant. There are several good restaurants in the area (Casin dei Nobili, in particular), and the bar on the square has very nice pastries in the morning. This part of Venice turned out to be one of my favorites and the apartment worked out quite well.

We can only second every positive comment about this marvelous place and its charming owner. Antonio walked us around the neighborhood to show us the supermercato and other spots; he helpfully informed us that bread from a bakery is extremely expensive and what is sold at the supermercato is also fresh (very true – the bread we got there was marvelous).
The apartment is perfect—so close to the vaporetto stop, minutes from the Accademia, yet completely quiet. It is truly a gem.

We have just returned home from Europe & spent 5 great days at Antonio's wonderful Apt.in Piazza San Barnaba which has everything to make you feel right at home, whethter you want to eat in or eat out. We walked everywhere & only set foot on a vaporetto to go to the ferrovia when we were leaving. Antonio even met us at the Station & walked us to the Apt. as he was in the area. The apt. had absolutely everything in it. There were lovely places to eat at nearby & a supermarket which had everything if one wanted to eat at the Apt. the apt. is located in one of the best areas of Venezia, close to everything & you feel loke one of the locals. I hope to return there sooner rather than later. Antonio is a most helpful charming young man. Thanks Antonio! |

An absolutely charming, well located, clean, well equipped, large and comfortable apartment in Venice. A nice residential area with friendly local cafes and bars. The next square over (Margarita) has Pizza Al Volo for great cheap eats and the street just off the alley where the apartment is has numerous excellent places to eat. The square is busy by day and silent by night. We slept with open windows and all we heard was the distant sound of Church bells. the Academia is 3 minutes away and the train station is less than 10. Two nearby vaperetto stops make getting around a breeze. The Grand Canal is just a 1 minute walk away. Shopping, dinning, sightseeing is all just at your doorstep yet you are in a quiet little piazza. I would easily recommend this place for any travelers with room for up to four people. We were two and had room to spread out. Antonio is an absolute doll and will meet you in the square (which is very easy to find as it is just a straight walk from the vapereto stop) and the apartment is just steps away. Spotlessly cleaned and ready. He stocks a nice range of (english) books on Venice and has maps for you to use. If quiet and charm are important and you want to be close to it all yet not up all night with nightlife noise this is a great choice. We use VRBO all over the world and can rate Antonio and his apartment top notch. No glamour or glitz, just perfect functionality and location. As a plus a full size shower with unlimited (instant on) hot water. |

I completely agree with all of the positive comments regarding this charming and cozy apartment. I just returned from my stay this November 2007 and would definitely stay at Antonio's again. In fact I already tried booking for March 2008, but unfortunately he's booked. So if you are considering this apartment, don't take too long with your decision otherwise you might miss this opportunity. Antonio was very welcoming and accommodating as others have mentioned. The location is very convenient to everything and the apartment has all the necessary amenities. I highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Venice!

There he was waiting for us with a smile, in the rain, with an umbrella and a bottle of Italian wine. We were 1 1/2 hours late. yet there he was with a smile. he also did not rush through our walk through just so he could get home. He gave us perfect directions and we took the wrong boat, yet he met us with a smile. What's great about Antonio's place is that it has a great location. You can boat or walk and be anywhere in 15 minutes. His apt. is very clean and we used different rooms for our luggae as we traveled a great deal. He has everything you need and the airconditioning is a plus. Antonio, is about as friendly a young guy as you can find. it was a pleasure. try the Pie Slices in the nearby piazza. You'll know which one, they stand in line for a half a block. Thanks again Antonio!

We LOVED staying at Antonio's beautiful house in Venice. The house was immaculate and had every possible amenity available. The neighborhood was close to everything, yet quiet from the massive amount of tourists. The area is well known for its restaurants. There are two supermarkets, a wine store which fills your empty bottles for a couple euro's, the floating market, and vaporetti stops. We would walk the short distance to the Zattere and sit drinking vino watching the water traffic. I plan on returning to Venice and would ONLY stay in one of antonio's houses/apartments. Thank you for the vacation to remember.

Comfortable and attractive apartment with much thought given to every need. Far enough from Campo S Barnaba to be quiet, yet just a few seconds away from it. Excellent location for the sights whether on foot or by vaporetto and for local shopping. We enjoyed cooking fish from the local market every evening. We intend to return.

Antonio was a pleasure to deal with and very accomodating. He has a beautiful home in Vencice on the Campo San barnaba. There are nice dining places on the Campo and in the immediate area. The home is clean and well appointed, with plenty of room for our family of 4. We really enjoyed the experience and will and have recommended Antonio and VRBO to our friends.

We LOVED staying here! It is a very quiet and relaxing location, close to the vaporetto stop, a supermarket, a bakery, gelato, a take away pizza shop, and numerous restaurants. The owner Antonio was very friendly and helpful. The Accademia and Guggenhiem are within easy walking distance - St. Mark's is doable by foot also if you prefer not to take the vaporetto.
