Beth and I (and the dog) really enjoyed the weather, lake and bogs. Loved your backyard. Saturday afternoon we sat up on the deck for a couple of hours and watched the many different birds. Thanks for sharing your house.
PS: Built a fire, but never cold enough to light it, so hope you don't mind if I just left it for the next visitor.

This was our second stay in this rental. Both times
we've used it as a reunion location for our group of
college friends who are now spread across the US.
It provides the perfect location for us and we can't

Mary, our visit to your cottage was perfect for us - we brought our daughter, son-in-law and grandson from July 11-18, 2009. The kitchen was very well equipped, the hottub was a favorite and we grilled out almost every night. Your walls are extremely well insulated, which made naptime a breeze.
We loved the access to the beach, the whole neighborhood feel, and the access to the train to Chicago. We visited the Shedd Aquarium there - such an easy trip. There were also so many other things to do.

What a wonderful cottage! We had a great time! We had all kinds of weather and it was awesome to see Lake Michigan in the wind, snow, rain, sun and starry night. Walking to the Lake everyday was great; our dog loved it. Hiking at the Dunes State Park was awesome. The hot tub was so relaxing at the end and beginning of the day. The fireplace is a work of art and we used it everyday. Nature is right there deer, beavers, ducks, vultures, hawks and wild turkeys. We liked the Dunes before but really love them now with such a wonderful place to stay. We will be back to enjoy this lovely cottage. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful place and enjoy all of its amenities! Being pet friendly made it perfect for us. We highly recommend this cottage!

I went to The Shores for only a few days and hated to leave. I was visiting the area for the first time and could not believe how beautiful it was. Took the train to Chicago and spent a day. | We had an amazing couples weekend at the shores during a much-needed getaway from the winter blues. The fireplace kept us toasty while we cooked up some feasts in the spacious, well-stocked kitchen. THe sky lights gave the place a nice open feel. For fun, we had a Wii couples tennis tournament and soaked in the luxurious hot tub. We are definitely coming back to make it annual event! |

| This was our fourth annual visit at the cottage. We had a glorious time celebrating Christmas with my Sister and her family. We walked to the beach and watched the huge ice flows lap the shore. We love it!! This is our sixth time staying at The Shores, it feels like our home away from home. Our dogs, Molly & Sophie, love it too! They get to be free within the enclosed deck area and also enjoy the fresh air. For us, the beach is just a short walk away with lots of shoreline to enjoy. While visiting, I stay up late and read in the living room (winter fires in the fireplace) while Jordie retires early to the bedroom to watch baseball or football; just like home. We also visit the locals. Saturday mornings take us to Chesterton for the European Market, some evenings are spent at the Blue Chip Casino and I somehow find time to shop at the 24 hour Wal-mart and Meiers in Michigan City. For us, this place is great since friends live near and promise summer boat rides. Train access also helps for short-term visitors. Since everything is provided at The Shores all we need is each other; great for relaxation. We are already planning our fall getaway. Mary & Mary, thanks so much for your hospitality!

| We thoroughly enjoyed the visit! We loved being able to walk to the train station, visit the dinosaurs at the Field Museum and the Beluga whales at the Shedd Aquarium and then ride back home! And the beach was very nice as well! Beverly Shores is a very interesting community and I also liked seeing the "Houses of Progress" in progress! Thanks for making this cottage available! |

Our stay was June 24-27. The cottage was more than expected. My husband and I brought 1 adult daughter and 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. The kids loved the beach and the hot tub was perfect after the first 2 days being somewhat rainy and the water cold but the kids did not mind. The cottage very clean and Michigan City so close to pick up extra items. Grill was wonderful. It was all wonderful. One granddaughter has already asked if we can come back next year. We are hoping to work this out. Thanks for a lovely place to stay.

I only had about a week notice, but we were able to get the arrangements all
squared away in about three days without too much trouble. The property was very
nice and cozy, and we stayed around the fireplace and outdoor spa for most of the
time.
Everything was very clean and organized and the place had a lodge-like feel to it.
The area around the cottage was very nice - it's only a quick drive or walk down to
the dunes, and there are a bunch of amazing "houses of the future" along the
beachfront.
The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed to eat, so we cooked everything
there and didn't dine out during our two days. I would definately recommend this
property to a friend, and I would like to come back again in the summer when the
beach is open and it's nice enough to walk around outside."

Coming from Minnesota, we are always hopeful that when we travel some distance our VRBO selection meets our expectations. Being that this rental was in one of favorite places, Beverly Shores, we anticipated having a great time. Our expectations were exceeded. The Marys have provided a retreat as warm and comfortable as any home you may find. From the cozy living room with a great fireplace to the bright and cheery kitchen to the private outdoor spa, it all made for a great long weekend. If we could arrange for more trips, we would like to soak in the views and soak in the spa each season.

We really enjoyed your relaxing cottage by Lake Michigan. It had everything we needed for a week away from home. your vacation rental was great. We live in Chicago and it's great to have a few days to unwind in such a peaceful, comfortable place. The beds were just right, as was the spa. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, bowls, etc, and we enjoyed the board games (especially Othello).
We biked every day--great biking, especially for kids.
My son and I also enjoyed the short walk to the beach every day--he made a lot of friends there. Plus the beach and water were cleaner and less crowded than the beaches at the Michigan places we went to---not to mention the beaches in Chicago.

We just returned from a lovely 4 days and 4 nights at The Shores - what a great cottage! My husband and I were there with our two girls (6 and 4 ) and we all had a wonderful time! The cottage is so cozy and our girls couldn't get enough of the jacuzzi. We, also, had a nice fire going in the fireplace every night. The beach is right down the road which was great! What a great place to relax. My husband, our two teen-agers, and our dog had a great time. We loved being so close to the beach and being able to enjoy the spa. The screened in porch was a wonderful way to enjoy late evenings. We hope to enjoy the cottage again soon.

| We just loved the cottage in Beautiful Beverly Shores!! My wife, 5 children and myself were able to enjoy a comfortable week in the well stocked and clean cottage. People in the area wondered why a family from West Michigan would go "south" instead of "UP North".... I say it was well worth it!! We spent 3 days walking to the beach...and yes the hat(s) floated...Went to Michigan City to shop and eat..(recommend the Hot Dog Stand....)...took the train to Chicago and walked around Millenium Park and Navy Pier...got home in time to chill in the Hot tub...Finished up the week at the Dunes Park and hiking trails!! Kids and I just loved the hot tub...We have raved to family and friends of the cottage and area and we are planning our next trip back to the "South". |

| This was our second stay at The Shores in four months. I'd bet we'll be staying with you again before the year's end. What will keep us coming back? It's because we can bring our little four-legged friend. ALSO, because it's soooo close and yet so far from home. AND because it's so close to nature (hiking trails, the beach,etc.) Last week we went to the Farmer's Market (dogs allowed) in Michigan City (10 minutes drive - if that) and bought fresh-squeezed lemonade from a mother and daughter(it was served to us on a tray!) bought fresh produce, baguettes, goat cheese and fresh herbs. We climbed Mt. Baldy, went to the beach and had a wonderful three nights relaxing with no timetable, which equals "no stress." We'll be back just as soon as we can. |

Dear Mary & Mary, I booked your cozy cottage in order to spend time with a dear friend. A great time was had by all! Fireplace blazing constantly, numerous trips to the spa (stars were really lit at night, along with us!!), daily side trips to see the stunning fall foliage, walking on the beach, spectacular sunsets, great meals, interesting shops, laughter, reconnecting......I could go on and on......so much to do & see & so little time!! This cottage was so warm and cozy we never wanted to leave! The television, dvd/vcr and sound system were great to watch tv and movies. This was our 2nd time back (we were here last July) and had so much more fun this time!!! We had the amazing opportunity to watch a female monarch butterfly lay eggs on some milkweed, we had so much fun at the beach that we couldn't stop laughing, and we caught a stunning sunset that outlined Chicago - a scene only God could have created. We also enjoyed relaxing at the house - jammin to the 80's radio station, playing Skip-Bo, and eating a romantic dinner that our friends fixed for us (and then they left to walk on the beach)! We can't wait to come back.

This was a perfect place for us, our daughter and our two grandsons, ages 2 & 5. We enjoyed 3 sightings of deer (but unfortunately something nibbled your tomatoes one night)! Your hot tub is wonderful -- including the shower out there beside it. We lost electricity during the thundershower on Tues. night but all seemed to work okay afterwords. We enjoyed all the beaches.

The Billy Goat Experiment Theatre Company retreat was a resounding success. We made full use of the hot tub, the mixture of 100 degree water and snow falling on our heads was amazing. We enjoyed lots of refreshing beverages and by Sunday we were closer than ever. We especially loved the Winterfest and had to drag Steve away kicking and screaming. We had a lot of fun and relaxation - the perfect vacation with two little ones. We made lots of sand castles, flew Emily's first kite, picked blueberries ( and ate them with much gusto), played minature golf, rode go-karts and bumper boats. All was great!!!
I couldn't believe all the deer that come right to your back yard.

The only challenge I had was it took me 2 days to find the phone and then
there was no cord to attach it to the wall.
We had a good time but I must say I remembered very quickly why as a young
man I decided I needed to get out of Michigan City if I was to live past 40!!!
The local economy seeems to be fueled only by tourism now.

Four Blocks from Anywhere is a great get-away. Cozy cottage sleeps 6, kitchen is ready for great meal making or use the grill on the deck. Have a fire in the pit, or just relax in the screened in porch. Before retiring for the evening, have a great fire in the living room. Great rental. Call 847-362-8481 for availability and rates.
