| We recently stayed at the Ghibellina loft apartment in Florence. Close to restaurants, shopping, etc...very convenient location. Open loft space with much more room than a hotel would offer. Very comfortable, larger than queen size bed, adequate towels and linens and lots of "old world" charm throughout the loft, with an amazing painted mural on the ceiling. The hustle of Florence streets just a few steps away from a safe, secluded, quiet, residence inside. Was skeptical at first because we're used to staying in hotels but found this a welcome retreat and plan to go back. Only downside was there wasn't a DVD player when we were there and we brought DVDs as all the channels speak in Italian, of course! And the TV could have been a little larger -important to Americans or if you're traveling with children or teenagers. The fireplace was not set up to work as advertised, although not missed, and there was no jacuzzi or "jetted" tub access as was promoted. Lighting could have been better at nightime as well but the dimmed lights gave a real romantic effect and the large floor to ceiling windows gave plenty of natural light during the day. The gated entrance to the interior courtyard was tranquil while providing security and we loved returning from a day of sightseeing to a real sense of Florentian living in a romantic loft which felt very much like our own for the time we were there. The City Manager was there to greet us upon arrival with a lunch basket, a bottle of Italian wine and birthday cake that I had requested for my boyfriend. Very nice touches which made us feel very welcome after a long flight. All in all a lovely stay and we recommend this loft to anyone looking to venture from the beaten path with the hopes of having a memorable stay in Florence. You'll find it here! |
