Guestbook Comment: Thank you for letting us rent your condo. As we are writing this on the lanai, looking out onto the ocean, we are asking ourselves why we are going back to Alberta where it is – 25 degrees right now !? It is very difficult to leave Paradise. We enjoyed staying here with all the amenities. You have the condo decorated so well and it was great to stay here. We enjoyed the golf at the Kona Coast Golf club. It is a beautiful course. There aren’t too many places where you can golf and watch whales at the same time! Thank you!

Guestbook Comments: Wonderful accommodations, great location. This was our first trip to the Big Island for all of us – age range 66 year to 19 months. We all had a good tiem and having this place as our home base made it all the more enjoyable. Been to all the islands and now having added the Big Island to the list of those visited, would love to come back.

Guestbook Comment: Mahalo for a wonderful stay in your nicely decorated condo. Everything was here that we needed and it felt like being at home. We had enough time to relax and explore this beautiful island with a perfect climate. We are sad to leave and hope to be back in the future. We left a blue-white boogie board to enjoy.

Guestbook Comment: We have been to the Big Island a number of times and this was the nicest place we have stayed. We had a great time snorkeling at Kahalu’u and boarding at Ku’a Bay. We got to the lava at the Volcano National Park and made it to dinner at our favorite restaurant twice: the “Bamboo” in Hawi. We enjoyed our visit and, in particular, this lovely condo. Thanks.

Guestbook Comment: Thank you for sharing your beautiful condo with us. It had all the comforts of home and so much more. Jaci, your decorating taste is wonderful … loved the sea turtles, dolphins, geckos and tropical fish. We will miss sitting on the lanai with our Kona coffee listening to the birds and gazing out at the ocean. The binder listing the attractions was very helpful. We snorkeled at Kahalu’u Beach and Honaunau. The fish and sea turtles were an amazing sight. We definitely recommend dinner at Bubba Gumps. Go early and get a table by the water where you can watch the sunset.

Guestbook Comment: The condo is very comfortable and relaxing “home away from home”. Right away we settled in to “island time”. We appreciate all the little extras in the condo, including the boogie boards, X-Box, and extra coolers, which made our stay much easier. The highlight of our trip was the helicopter tour over the lava flow. We also visisted the Volcano National Park, parasailed over the Pacific Ocean, and attended an authentic luau at the Royal Kona Resort (unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy the poi). The beaches in Kona were very easy to get to and fun for the whole family. We spent some time at the Magic Sands beach, which had a lot of big waves, great for boogie boarding, and at the La’aloa Bay, great for snorkeling and has many cool fish to see, including pufferfish and many others. We also saw many sea turtles during our stay in Kona. The KTA supervarket was very convenient, and Don the Beachcomber restaurant had great food. This was our 1st time to the Big Island, and it was very memorable. Mahalo!! The Arnold family P.S: We are now on our way to the Hilton Waikoloa Resort in Waikola. P.P.S: Helpful hint: If you are on your way to the lava flow viewing at night, bring some flashlights located above the washing machine,

Guestbook Comment: This past week has been extremely memorable. We went hiking at Volcano Nat’l Park, snorkeling, on a helicopter ride and to numerous beautiful beaches. The condo was amazing, so spacious and homey. ? The restaurants had delicious food to offer and we will miss having an L + L in Virginia. We’re all going to miss Kona, and will all be back soon. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your “home away from home”.

Guestbook Comment: Great place!! We’ve been to this property since 1996. You’ve done a great job making a “home away from home” in a great location. We appreciate your well stocked kitchen. We cooked lots of breakfasts & lunches. The weather was great. We had several overcast days early on, but we worked on our base tan. We finished off our tans with a day at Hapuna Beach. A must visit for all! I seem to remember Robin Leach listing it as one of the top ten beaches in the world. We were here during the most recent surface eruption at Pu O’o. We visited friends in Kalapana, trekked out to the flow and had fun. Not too many spots in the world where you can walk to where the lava is flowing into the ocean!!
We did take in the night snorkel visit to the giant manta rays. Another world class triumph. My oldest daughter and I did this 8 years ago. This time I took both daughters. Definitely leave out of Keahou Bay with the folks there. It is literally a 10 minute boat ride. The carpenters were busy rebuilding the stairs and back decks. What a project. Very professional crew. They moved quickly and got a lot done every day. Keep up the good work! We’ll be back.

Guestbook Comment: We arrived the evening of the 1st – the start of the worst week of storms to hit the Big Island in decades! Thank goodness we had a great place to stay! We became very familiar with all the shops! We really appreciated all the extras – very convenient! Once the weather cleared we enjoyed the beaches, & the great snorkeling at “two steps” ( by the Place of Refuge). This trip was a “girls” trip – I hope to be back next year with my husband. Thanks for sharing all his place has to offer! (P.S. I left a beach mat & pillow in the 2nd bedroom – too much shopping = crowded suitcases! Besides, it won’t work in the snow at home!)

We are visiting a cousin who lives in Oceanside south of here. We especially found the welcome book very informative. Thanks for making that book. What a view, what a view. Sure beats snow flurries back home.

Guestbook Comment: Tom & Jaci: Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. While we were here your beautiful condo was home. We could not possibly have wanted anything else. The ice chests, boogie board, umbrella & chairs were great when we went to Hapuna beach (which is one of our favorite spots). We took another guest’s recommendation % visited Waimea & had breakfast at the Hawaiian Style Café. The breakfast & atmosphere were perfect. We are taking home with us some beautiful memories that we will cherish until we return hopefully to your beautiful condo. Aloha.

Guestbook Comment: We came to Hawaii for our daughter’s wedding and it will be one of the most memorable events in our families lives. Sixty five people ventured from places such as Iowa, Maine, Mass., Fla, and San Diego, etc.! We rented two other condos besides this beautiful condo and we were very pleased and everyone felt at home for 2 weeks. Our mother (80) loved this condo; she could watch all of us at the pool, watch the birds and the ocean all at once! Thanks for having such great utensils, pans, and all! Hope to return again. Will call for reservations with you. Mahalo & Aloha!

Guestbook Comment: Thanks for the very very comfortable place. We really enjoyed staying at this well equipped condo. If we can come back to the Big Island we definitely will choose this condo. Mahalo! Our daughter & her husband took us to this island to celebrate our retirement, and this trip became an unforgettable memory for us. This is our first trip to Hawaii, and we learned a lot in this country which has completely different culture. And this one week stay in this wonderful & comfortable condo is most memorable thing through the trip. Now we’re leaving Hawaii and we’re willing to com back here someday. We hope everyone who stays at this condo will enjoy Hawaiian life. Thanks!

Guestbook Comment: Thank you for the use of your beautiful home – it really has been a comfortable stay this week. The info book was very helpful and the binder also – we’ve added some menus. We’ve had a fabulous time – there’s so much to do and see here that we have to come back. The snorkeling is great, we’ve seen the green and black sand beaches, the volcano is amazing even if it isn’t currently very noticeable. The lave tube is beautiful. We brought headlamps which made it much easier. Next time we’ll do the caves. Waimea is like being back in southern Alberta – in fact the mural in the Safeway mall is way too familiar. This is an extremely gorgeous island – being able to see bamboo rainforest-like areas, cattle country and back to the beach all in a few hours is beyond amazing. We loved Akaka falls. Every day has been perfect but finding ourselves with a fabulous meal in Hilo at the end of the day, in a small bistro (Hilo Bay Café) that we expected would be nothing much – just made the trip even better.

Guestbook Comment: Thanks so much for the use of your beautiful home. We had cloudy weather most of our stay but the air was warm and the small of the south pacific wonderful. We were very comfortable here. The resort is lovely as well. Our adventure to Cook’s monument by foot (wow what a climb back up) was well worth it. Bring extra water and don’t leave anything visible in your car. Our window was smashed. Luckily we locked our treasures in the glove compartment. It did mean a half a day at the rental car place, police report, insurance, etc…, so be careful. Otherwise loved it here and would love to come back again. Our daughter says she had the best birthday ever.

Guestbook Comment: You have an awesome condo. Very well decorated in the Hawaiian theme. This condo is so homelike we hated to leave. We enjoyed our week here – very nice weather, sunshine everyday (nice to be away from the snow & cold). I slept well the very first night I was here (and that usually doesn’t happen). Because of this wonderful condo we will probably never stay in a hotel again! Kona is a very relaxing place and I can see why you chose to live here when you retire and visit a few times each year. My husband Steve sure found a great condo for us to stay in! We are happy it was available. Thanks (or mahalo) for sharing your home with us! Aloha.

So grateful to have coolers here even with just a day and a half of sunshine and no wind (and of course the Tsunami alert) we had a wonderful time. Love the room to room AC and the local art (and the baskets!). The Dolphin over the TV sure makes use of the color of the wall behind it. Awesome condo – thanks for sharing your home with us!

We have not been to this island for 21 years – what a lot of changes – so many more people + cars + complex’s. We brought friends from England on their first visit + I think we covered all the sites. “Hawaii The Big Island Revealed” was most helpful + informative. Really appreciated your welcoming telephone call Tom. We found your entries in this book great + we related to each of your projects + your accomplishments. The beds were really comfortable. Date: 7/15-7/22/2006 We escaped the almost 100 oF temperatures of Minnesota to this wonderful paradise! Your condo is great! It is beautifully decorated and much larger than we expected. All of the extras made living here extremely easy. Tom, you certainly live much nicer now than you did in college (Tom and I were apartment mates in college!) We had a great time, some highlights – Sat. After a long trip from MN arriving about 3:00 the pool and hot tub felt great. Sun. Went to Volcano Park. Saw the lava flow into the ocean after dark. Great! Bring flashlights Long trip home in dark. Mon. Leisure morning. Hapuna beach (beautiful) in the afternoon. Tue. Hilo via Saddle Road on perfectly clear day. Gardens, Falls, Lyman Museum, Hot Pool. Long trip home in dark. Wed. Morning snorkel at Kahalu’u beach (great!) and evening Luau at Kona Village (nice facilities) Thur. Morning – look through Market place for gifts – afternoon Fairwinds snorkel (Kealakekua Bay) Friday – Kayaked and snorkeled Kealakekua Bay and visited Pu’uhonua Honaunau. Evening, made a “Lava Flow” to celebrate a great week. The week went way too quickly. Although we are disappointed that our stay here is almost over, we will be spending a week on Maui before heading back to the “Real World” Tom and Jaci; thank you again for letting us stay at your wonderful home.

Dates: 7/22/06-7/13/06 We have spent at least 2 weeks every other year at this resort since 1991 – most in the timeshare units – and this one is by far the best equipped! Before moving into this condo we spent 7 days at the Hilton Waikoloa. Bill was ready to start cooking + all the extras here made him feel right at home. We spent a wonderful 3 weeks in your condo and enjoyed every minute! Our favorite “little extras” were the rice cooker, IPOD dock radio, game system in 2nd bedroom and all of the new kitchen appliances. You’ve done a great job making this feel like “home away from home” – we’re just missing our dogs! Mahalo Nui Loa, Pam

Date: 7/12/06 We enjoyed staying in this well-equipped condo at this beautiful resort. Everything was in tip-top shape thanks to Tom and Jaci’s working vacations. Our family enjoyed the seven mile round trip hike to the lava flow to the ocean at night, although we were quite tired making our way over the lava in the dark. The view was well worth the adventure! We also had a great time snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach Park. We spent a day sight-seeing the northern side of the island stopping at Umauma Falls at World Botanical Gardens, Akaka Falls, Hawai’I Tropical Botanical Garden, Pana’ewa Rain Forest Zoo, and Ahalanui for a dip in the warm spring fed and ocean fed pool. Pescatore, 235 Keawe St., Hilo has very good Italian food, and we liked the pizza at Kiawe Kitchen in Volcano Village. Mahalo and Aloha,

Date: 6/6/06 Thanks for letting us stay at your condo! I’m crazy about your washer and dryer. We had an incredible time. Because you had beach mats, boogie boards, and ice chests we spent most of time on the beautiful beaches of Kona. We had fun pumicing under your beach umbrella. The best beach is Makalawena Beach. It’s about a 50 minute hike over sharp lava rock but it’s worth the hike. The Kekaha-Kai Beachbetween highway marker 88 and 89 is a great place to snorkel and watch the turtles eating yellow moss. The shaved ice is great. Make sure you go and watch the volcano pour lave into the ocean at night. It’s an experience of a lifetime. Mahalo. Hang Loose.

Date: 6/3/06 What a beautiful place you have to retire to!! Your condo is beautiful, we really enjoyed our stay. We were able to take advantage of the kitchen, which is well stocked so we didn’t have to eat out as much. The lanai is beautiful and we enjoyed spending our mornings there with the great Kona coffee. The condo has been a great place to make day trips from. We made it down to Volcano twice, up to the northern part of the island for a couple of days, and one day we even drove all the way around the island. One of our favorite things was an ATV (4-wheeler) ranch ride through the “Waipio on Horseback” company. The ride was great and our guide was full of interesting information. We also had a wonderful time on the Fairwinds snorkel cruise. Go in the morning! The weather seems better for the AM tour, which means smoother waters. We used island Hoppers for our circle tour of the island. The pilot, Ben, was knowledgeable but the small plane made Morgan sick. Ours was a 5 passenger + pilot. Mahalo & Aloha!

I think we have used and utilized just about all that this resort & condo has to offer, which has made this such a great experience! We visited Onizuka Space Museum, Hapuna Beach, The Vee-Kano (as Nolan, 4, puts it), Black Sand Beach, Southpoint, Kahaluu Beach & many other great places. The Blue Book (Big Island Revealed) has certainly been very helpful & accurate. We even celebrated Kiana’s 1st birthday here and enjoyed the luau at the Sheraton. Thanks again!

2/4/06-2/20/06 We’re lucky to be back to the beautiful Big Island and staying in this lovely condo for our 3rd year in a row. A couple of new things we did this year that we found very interesting were a trip to the Hawaiian Vanilla Co. on the Humakua coast and also the Hawaiian chocolate factory which is very close to here. We also had a great tour of the Pele Coffee Plantation—even saw wild turkeys and got to hold baby sheep. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Keei Café and Jackies Ohana grill. We also enjoyed grilling here at the condo and eating on the lanai. Mahalo

Dates: 12/10/05-12/17/05 Dear Tom & Jaci. Thank you so much for this wonderful condo. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Big Island and your heavenly condo played a big part! It was like coming home every day after our weary traveling & sight seeing. We too enjoyed eating at Bamboo restaurant at Waimea. Need to remember that it is closed on Sundays and Mondays. If you go turn right on the road leading to Bamboo, you come across a hike to the beach down below. (about 45 mins) Very scenic and worth going down. We played a lot of golf and loved it. The condo supplied everything we needed and couldn’t have asked for anything more. Very tastefully decorated and everything was perfect. Would love to come back and stay here again!! Thank you so much. With lots of love

Dates: 11/16/05-11/30/05 Candle light and wine, soft music & sunsets, what more could we want. Thank for sharing this lovely spot with us. We also enjoyed seeing the Mantas, and dinner at Keai, and Kona Inn Rest. Disappointed with Quinas Rest. We also took good advantage of the barbeque and your well stocked kitchen Mahalo. D.
P.S. Love the new dolphin [sculpture]!

Dates: 10/29/05 – 10/26/05 We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful condo! We found it very comfortable and truly a “home away from home.” Our 3-year-old loved swimming in the pool, and the DVD player in the living room came in very handy. We found the location of this condo really convenient—close to lots of restaurants and shopping. We had meals at Kenichi’s and the Royal Thai and enjoyed both places. The mussels at Royal Thai were Delicious!! The highlight of the trip was the snorkeling trip we took with Fair Winds—well worth the price. The fresh seafood at Marina Seafood was awesome. Thank you, Tom & Jaci, for your beautiful condo. We really had a great time on the Big Island and staying here made it that much better. We hope you have a wonderful time when you arrive next week.

Thank you so much, Tom & Jaci for sharing your home with us. Your warm hospitality is greatly appreciated! Our children were thoroughly spoilt by the spacious rooms, pools and facilities. Also delighted to encounter mongooses, saffron finches and cardinals for the first time. Made good use of the newly equipped kitchen to make seared Ahi, etc. Very helpful hints and instructions. Mahalo nui loa!
From the daughters: I love the space here, the black sand beach here is really special (turtles are there). I like the TVs/Nintendo because you can play games & there are mongooses outside. Yours sincerely, Sophie & Alicia.
And the Hawaiian language is a lot of fun especially from a linguist family!

We’ve had the most awesome time! We recommend renting kayaks from Kona Boys and going to the Captain Cook monument to watch the dolphins. Really enjoyed the condo – Everything is huge and more than we’d hoped for. We replaced 2 boogey boards. Aloha!

After spending the first part of the week at a wonderful Kohala resort, we moved to your condo after a long, full day on Oahu. What a welcome treat! While the resort was great, we really enjoyed the spaciousness & “Extras” that your home provided. After a successful fishing trip on the Camelot, we used the grill here and enjoyed some delicious spearfish for dinner. We ate our candle-lit dinner on the lanai – something we can’t do in Dallas! Like others, we found the book, Hawaii The Big Island Revealed, to be very helpful. Rita wouldn’t leave the house without her “Blue Book!” Thanks for the TLC you’ve given your condo. We had a great vacation, & we’re thankful you shared your home with us! Can’t wait to tell everyone at home about it! God bless & Mahalo!

Dear Tom & Jaci, We arrived here after a long day of travel with our two young daughters, and we were so delighted to find the condo like you described and more! Had we known there was a pack ‘n play we would have left ours at home. Our daughters loved the pool (our 3 year old called it the swimming poodle). We found everything we needed, and appreciate all the conveniences. Your suggestion to purchase The Big Island revealed book was very helpful – we used ours a lot. We plan on returning when our daughters are a bit older to see and do more. We had a resident green lizard – Emily loved it. Had a couple of those large bugs but no ants! Overall it has been a very relaxing, fun and enjoyable stay. Expect to hear from us in the future. We added and umbrella stroller and booster chair to the condo for others traveling with young children. Mahalo!

Jaci & Tom – We loved your condo – really huge and awesome. Sunset view on lanai was great. Enjoyed a dinner cruise and luau – visit to USS Arizona and tons of shopping. Condo has everything, but missing a cordless phone. Aloha.
[Owner’s note: Installed two cordless phones in the unit on May 17, 2004. Good idea!]

What a beautiful place! After 3 days in Oahu our arrival here was a pleasant, well-needed change! The locals may complain about traffic, but that’s all relative when you live in Houston! Our time here was brief, but we packed a lot into each day. Went to Hapuna Beach x 3. Great sunning and body surfing. Left before 7 am to drive to Volcano National Park. We could have spent more time there if we had it! I couldn’t go back to Texas, though, without seeing the Kilauea Crater. Celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Kona Inn Restaurant. It was great! Tip! – Beachcombers was great too and there’s a coupon for 1.2 off 2nd entre in Big Island Magazine. Enjoyed mornings on the lanai, sunsets on the lanai and in town with a Mai Tai in hand. Mahalo Tom and Jaci. Your condo is wonderful – a home away from home and we will return! (For an extended stay!) Aloha!

A beautiful home for our first visit to the B. I. It’s very relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our meals in the well-stocked kitchen. Loved the lani and the spaciousness of the unit. Not to be missed is the large pool down by the clubhouse – so much fun! The kids finally began to swim on their own and not fear the water (they’re 3 and 5). Thanks for treating us as guest, not just customers.

We always stay in condos on vacation. Yours ranks with the top two! Spacious, very clean, super location, and had all the extras we needed (Nintendo, 3 TVs, Boogie boards, sandals! … Just great! Your tour books were great to have handy. Need an easier way to remove shoes, such as a bench. Beds were very comfortable. The bidet looks a little creepy but everything else was perfect.
We were in Hawaii 15 years ago and had to come back with our kids. This time we were here for four days. We went on the Fairwinds which is outstanding. We went to Hapuna beach twice since the waves an beach were perfect. We rented a 4WD and drove to South Point and all the way to the Green Sand Beach. This was a highlight. We also drove to Waipiolookout and drove down the steep road to the beach. It was fun. A whole day was spent at the Volcanoes and we even took the night hike (thanks for the flashlights). Unfortunately, we didn’t see lava or the glow. It was great anyway. Thanks for sharing your condo with us. It made this trip so much better.

Had a great time at your condo. You have it very well stocked. It was a very comfortable few days. We enjoyed the island a lot and your condo made all “coming & going” much easier. Loved the snorkeling at Captain Cook’s. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Mahalo!

We shared this condo with our daughter, Jan & husband, Curt. Has been an enjoyable stay in this very nice, spacious place. The lanai was our favorite spot too. Didn’t do much cooking but sure was great to do a little laundry here. Didn’t have to use the air conditioner, the ocean breezes took care of the cooling. A narrow bench in the entryway would be nice for taking off and on shoes! Aloha.

We love it here!! We’ve been to the Big Island several times but always stayed in a hotel. We thought we would give a condo a try this year and we couldn’t have found a better one! You’ve stocked it well – we felt very much at home here – our favorite spot is on the lanai. We enjoyed some beautiful sunsets, even saw the “Green Flask.” We found Paradise!! Mahalo.

Tom & Jaci – thank you so much ! We had such a great time here! This was our first visit to the Big Island and we loved it! We came here after a week on Maui and your place was such a welcome relief. We loved the resort we stayed at on Maui, but it is so nice to come to a place that is like home! We really could relax here – cook diners at home, relax on the lanai. We loved it! Our only suggestion – when somebody asks to rent your wonderful condo for less than a week (like we did) – please insist that that is not nearly enough time to see any of the Big island!! Thank you so much!! We so enjoyed our stay!! Aloha and Mahalo!

Thank you for sharing your Hawaiian home with us. We truly did feel at home, especially the kids. The unit itself is very well laid out, spacious and a great location. The extras such as the beach mats, towels, and coolers were greatly appreciated. An extra special thank you for the Nintendo 64 – from the kids & Bob & I! Hapuna beach was our favorite and the burgers at Lulu’s were awesome! Cheers and Aloha.

We are just about to leave for the airport, so we are in the only hurry we’ve been in all week!! We had a great stay! If I wrote this yesterday there would be a lot more info!! We really enjoyed the beaches – especially Waialea (“69”), page 155 in “The Big Island Revealed” book. The access is easy (it only looks hard!). we rented snorkel gear from Snorkel Bob’s for the week, which was great. We used it at least 5 days – The Place of refuge, Kealakekua (on Fairwinds trip), and Kahalu’u have great snorkeling. The Big Island Revealed was the BEST TOUR GUIDE! We had our own, plus one in the condo, so we always had ours in the rental car! Thank you Tom & Jaci for the great place to stay! We really hate to leave! Aloha, Mahalo.

What a delightful surprise when we arrived – we felt welcome and “at home” immediately. Everything is so lovely, and on exploring the next morning I was amazed to find not only all the basics but so many small niceties and handy things. The pack of Kona coffee was great but after making a pot I discovered that we had no sugar or creamer – donut shop here we come! The 3 grandkids loved the Nintendo – they stayed happy and busy whenever we were here. Mega dittos on good comments about snorkeling on Fairwinds – the bay was great, and the staff very nice and helpful to us novices – definitely worth the price. Kahalu’u beach was great for snorkeling too – amazing numbers of fish are very close in, and Autumn was thrilled to see a green sea turtle swimming with her. Mahalo for everything!

Hi Tom & Jaci. Well, what can we say but “unbelievable” and a “fantastic” place to stay. After coming to Kona for so many, many years we have finally found a place we feel is truly like a second home! This trip was memorable, as each is when we come to Kona, but having the comfort of your home made it even more “Aloha.” We look forward to our stay in March and again in September. Mahalo, aloha, and much love.

This was the perfect place for us this trip to Hawaii! The condo is well maintained, nicely decorated, stocked with almost everything we could need, and cool! We really appreciated the A/C (we live in the desert with about 11% humidity) in the humid heat. The lanai is the best – wonderful place to read, play games, watch sunsets. We visited the “lava” at night – awesome, and did the snorkeling tour on the Fairwinds – we would highly recommend both. We also enjoyed Waimea and the drive from there to the National Park – Merrimans in Waimea has delicious, fresh food in a very nice atmosphere. The new TV with DVD was great to watch movies – and also to view the video footage we took. Thanks , Tom and Jaci, for sharing your beautiful spot with us.
