We had a wonderful time at the Smith Log Cabin. The location of the cabin is excellent. It is a short 5 minute drive to pick up grocery items or shop in many unique stores in Black Mountain, and, it is convenient to many attractions such as the Biltmore and Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin has a lot of character. It is well stocked with kitchen utensils for those of us who enjoyed preparing their own meals. Two common areas plus a loft provided plenty of space to socialize with our party indoors while at the same time others found privacy to enjoy their latest book. The same space benefits were outdoors too. Three covered decks and a patio gave us a lot of options to be outside relaxing and enjoying the mountain air. Fresh linens and comfortable sleeping areas completed our days for a good night of rest.
One of the most amazing assets of the cabin is the view of the sunsets. The pictures on the web do not do justice to the real thing. Another great view was the sunrise. The shadows as the sun rises combined with the fog settled in the valleys was quite a sight.

We came here after spending a week in Helen, GA. in a cabin. What a WONDERFUL change of pace. My son and two year old grandson are coming over from Concord (NC) for a few days.
The house is terrific. The view is spectacular. It has rained non-stop since we came & we really don't care we love sitting and staring at the mountain. We hope to make it back soon.
The house was clean & stocked with all supplies - Thank You!

We had four generations sharing the week in your lovely cabin. We all came to Black Mountain to celebrate our daughter, April and new son-in-law John Cohen’s weeding at Lake Tomahawk Park. The weather was beautiful for the ceremony which was held at the gazebo. After a fun-filled reception at the Lakeview clubhouse some friends and family stopped by to visit. Everyone loved the wonderful views and whimsical décor. This house is perfect for sharing with family and friends. You cannot beat the view form the front porch rockers. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us for the week. We hope to reutn in the future.

We all met here for vacation. We had a relaxing time visiting, 3ating, playing games, watching distant thunderstorms from the front porch. Some of us went to Biltmore and some went to play golf. We strolled downtown Black Mountain. We think this be an annual event for us. We love Black Mountain. Thanks for a great spot to spend quality time with family!

We have enjoyed a lovely week together at your beautiful mountain home! We love the views, the beds, the gathering spaces and how our every need was provided for! We saw a bear twice during our stay – he seemed to be drawn to the smell of our cooking baking. Thank you for sharing your comfortable home with us. This was a marvelous home for us while we attended the Presbyterian Peacemaking Conference at Montreat. We loved the comforts, the charming décor, the well-equipped kitchen, the breathtaking views and perfect beds. As we sit here on the porch for our evening snack, the beautiful sunset and bright Venus add a final grand finale to our visit.

We came up out of the Okefenokee swamp in southeast Georgia to visit another part of God’s great creation! We love the mountains; Mt. Mitchell state park; Chimney rock; Biltmore estate and all the other places we visited. Celebrating 33rd, 34th and 35th anniversaries fro these three sisters as great! God has blessed our families beyond measure and we thank and praise him! We have visited this area several times and this has been our most comfortable lease. It’s been great but we have to go!

We had a gathering of ‘old’ friends and managed to hit the peak of the color in the leaves. The view from the 3rd floor porch is gorgeous. This layout is perfect for a group of several families. We have all enjoyed our stay – even an invasion of ladybugs that we came home to one day.

What a great place to stay! This house is intimate yet spacious enough for six adults. We all had our own ‘private’ areas, too. Great porch! Probably the center of our stay – the central gathering place. Hearing the world wake up in the morning and the hollow socked in with fog and slowly revealing itself to the day – the insects at night and sleeping peacefully with all the windows open. Thought we know the area well, our guest from Mississippi and Montana were pleasantly surprised and at home. Great place – Great Time.
Signed, Tom

We arrived Friday, August 25 and what a wonderful surprise. The mountain view from the top deck was breathtaking. This cabin (using that word loosely) was more than anyone could want. It was stocked with anything we would need. We were here for the “Adult Celebration” at the cove but otherwise we could have sat on one of the decks all day. The town of Black Mountain was very unusual. We enjoyed browsing the shops when we had free time. My two sisters and I have certainly had a wonderful time together since we do not have the opportunity to be together often.

Our family ( with friend Justine) had a wonderful and restful vacation here in black Mountain. This log cabin is so lovely with its openness and loft. The view from the porches is fabulous. It was great to sit on the front porch with a cup of coffee and good book in the morning hours. We also loved Montreat, hiking at Chimney Rock park, Lake Lure and evening strolls around Lake Tomahawk. Hope your stay is great, too!

What an awesome mountain nest you have here. We all had a wonderful time for our family fall get away. This was out granddaughter’s first mountain trip. She is 17 months old and climbed her first mountain at Lookout in Montreat. What a great hike. We enjoyed the fact that the house was close to civilization in Black Mountain but still on a private drive and in such a peaceful setting. The house is so accommodating and has all the comforts. It so cute and whimsical with all the touches and artwork … yet still the look of a log cabin. We enjoyed a horseback ride over at Lake Lure. The weather has been fantastic. The little shops in Black Mountain are delightful. We found some treasures! We will definitely want to come back!

We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts and cabins, but this is by far the very best one ever! We love the views and the whimsical way the cabin is decorated! Plus with four families here, we really appreciated the layout and all the bathrooms! We definitely want to come back to this very special place and are sad we have to leaver after 2 wonderful weeks.

Our first trip to Black Mountain- what a treat. In the midst of the hectic holiday season it was a treat to get away. Your cabin is awesome!! From the wonderful pine smell when we opened the door, to the scenery and peaceful surrounding it was all a wonderful experience. You all have done a great job decorating and beds are so comfortable. Tom celebrated his bit 50 birthday on Friday by visiting the Biltmore, eating at the Stable café and sipping wines at the winery. Too tired to cook, we ate pizza at “ My Father’s Pizza.” The ay was so much fun. Saturday we had snow flurries as we shopped in black Mountain. That was neat. There is still a dusting on the mountain tips. It is such a cute town. We rounded out the day playing spades and grilling fillets. Everyone is packing up and I am dragging out departure time out as long as possible. But reality awaits us back in Richmond, Va. Thank you for letting us come for a visit. Your cabin home is adorable. I wish you and your family happy memories of Black Mountain gatherings for many years to come. You’ve done great.

The cabin is so charming and the whimsical décor is delightful. We especially enjoyed the breath taking view particularly from the 3rd story. On Saturday, we went to Belle Chere. We played games, brought jewelry, made candles and ate good food. The town of Asheville is beautiful. On Sunday we hiked up Chimney rock, at the top we took a cool dip in a mountain stream and drank cool mountain water from the waterfall. The hike is strenuous and we all lost about 10 pounds but it was well worth it and cheap, only $14. On Monday, we toured the Biltmore House and gardens. What an amazing home. We ate at the stable café and sipped a variety of wines at the winery. On Tuesday, we went white water rafting—it was awesome! After riding the cold water of the French Broad we warmed up with a hot mineral bath is Hot Springs, you feel energized and refreshed afterward. On Wednesday we spent the day in Lake Lure. We went horseback riding at Cedar Creek Stables, ate lunch at Larkin’s on the lake. We then rented a boat and spent the day on the lake tubing behind the boat. We had a treat time. On Friday we took a ride on the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. Thank you North Carolina and the Smith family. We had a wonderful time. The McDaniel’s and the La Combe’s Madisonville, Louisiana
