| The Harper House was all we expected and more! Ed, the owner, was wonderful to work with and has really created a vacation rental that feels like "home." We thoroughly enjoyed the breathtaking views from the living room, kitchen, and master deck. We were surprised by the easy access to the pier and waterfront and enjoyed seeing the crab and the beautiful starfish on our daily walks. We were also surprised by the LARGE yard where our grandson had plenty of room to romp and play. The master bed is extremely comfortable and the views from the windows make you never want to leave. The kitchen is fabulous and the laundry room a real bonus. It was a vacation with the conveniences of home - including cable and wireless Internet!!! This is the perfect family vacation home and we highly recommend it. Thanks Ed! P.S. Don't miss breakfast at Uncle Dave's Cafe The bisuits and gravy are as good as everyone says! :o) |

| We just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Harper House in Southworth (Port Orchard), Washington. We had 2 families meet in the middle to enjoy some quality time and we ALL had a wonderful time! Let's start with the outside. The yard is generous sized and beautifully landscape. Completely private and very relaxing. You can take in the view of the Sound from the back deck (with BBQ, heat lamp and porch swing), or from the upper balcony (off the master suite). There is a hidden path (rock steps with railing) down to the water. Now let's move inside. Starting with the welcoming touches of fresh flowers and delightful bottle of St. Michelle Reisling on the kitchen table for our enjoyment! The living room is beautifully decorated, very relaxing and reminiscent of modern meets log cabin feel. Wood floors throughout the house. The 2 main level bedrooms are spacious feeling and comfortable for couples. The kitchen is beautiful with marble counter tops and ceramic tile floors. The kitchen table is perfect for a large family dinner or a night of playing games! The kitchen comes equipped with just about everything you might ever need! The only thing we couldn't find was a wine opener... luckily, we never leave home without one! =) The master suite was gorgeous! It has a super sized king bed, a double bed and a twin. Plenty of room!! We enjoyed waking up to beautiful views! And the master bath is very nice! The shower was the hit of the house! I loved the basin sink - very nice touch. The basement has been transformed from a standard basement into a cozy family play space. There is a pool table and projector and screen on the wall. We had fun watching country music television and playing pool! There is also a full laundry center down there in case you need more towels, sheets.... Let's not forget the beach! The beach is very rocky - however... on low tide - the fun you can have! Great place for kids (old and young alike) to find little crabs under rocks, collect pretty rocks (even really large agates), and TONS of shells! You could spend hours down there! I even found some living oysters - great for a cook-out! Be sure to check out the ferry system and the local areas for fresh seafood and other local delights! We would rate our time at the Harper House at an A! Ed was always accessible, professional and kind. What would have made it an A+? A wine opener and more wine glasses! We will be back!! |

| This house is amazing! Our family had never been to Washington before. My brother moved there in March and we were visiting for the first time. What a wonderful first time! The house is beautiful and the setting is so relaxing. We all felt totally rejuvenated when we left. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to experience Washington on the water. Where else can you go and watch bald eagles fish while you eat your breakfast? Thank you so much for a great vacation. |

Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your house. It was wonderful! We slept like stones and we watched the eagles; I stayed upstairs, the sun woke me every morning along with all the birds, what wonderful way to wake up. We had sunshine every day we were in Seattle. It was truly wonderful! We didn't use the big TV, although we thought we would. After touring all day, we'd just enjoy the deck a while with a cup of tea or glass of wine and then go to bed fairly early. I would love to rent it again someday. We went to breakfast at "Uncle Dave's", per your suggestion, the view of the Olympics was truly spectacular, and we even got to meet and talk to Dave!. Again, everything was wonderful.
Thanks again!

| Hmmm. . . the theater room, the master bedroom, the view from the living room, this place is the best. Just miles from some of the world's best mountain biking trails, fishing, fine dining, etc. Or, jump in a kayak and peak around the picturesque island that sits in center view and shazam, Seattle is right there. |

Our family had a wonderful time at Harper House. The view was absolutely stunning, and the surrounding area was full of surprises of beautiful flowers, blackberries, and hummingbirds. The water was fabulous, we saw tons of perch, feeders, some small salmon (10 inch), and then big salmon (more than 2 feet) came through several times. We even saw an Orca. I couldn't believe it!! The anemones were huge and the starfish abundant. We wish we would have had more time, to try our hand at fishing.
The house was great! We found our favorite place to hang out was the kitchen, especially that great nook table surrounded by the windows. We played lots of games and ate way too much! We loved it!! It was easy to find thanks to your directions. We look forward to our next trip to Harper House.
Thanks so much!!

| This was the perfect location for our family to enjoy a week off. My in-laws flew in from New York, while we flew up from California. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed days of playing on the sand near the house, as well as jumping on the foot ferry and going into Seattle a few times to explore the city. My son's favorite part, though, was picking up rocks on the beach in front of the house and watching the crabs underneath. My father-in-law and husband enjoyed fishing off the pier that is also right in front of the house (they even caught a star fish that was a little tricky to throw back!). We loved this house and even my mother-in-law, who didn't want to go to Seattle due to the lack of sunshine that usually accompanies that type of trip, said it was a wonderful vacation. Thanks Ed!!!!!!! |

| Two brothers and their families from drought-striken Texas and New Mexico shared a fabulous adventure, but most importantly, Harper House re-charged our empty H2O tanks..The pictures on the internet do not begin to do the panoramic views justice! The beauty of the home and area were at times overwhelming, and it was extremely difficult for us to leave! Our teenagers never once said they were bored, of course the theater and computer system were Nirvana to them! Our peaceful, relaxed family walks on the shore and pier will always be cherished. We could not have found better accommendations than Harper House and it was incredible convenient to get to Seattle and Olympic National Park (a side trip you must make). Our teenagers will not be teenagers much longer and it was a true Blessing for us all to be together and share memories of a lifetime! Thank-you Ed, we will be back!--The Jenkins Clan |

| It is quite a feat to please even one person, and even more difficult to please two, but I have to say that the Harper house pleased a total of 6 people! The words satisfactory, or even good, cannot be used to describe our stay. It was nothing short of fantastic! The rooms were beautiful, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and that master shower is something that everyone must experience! I fell in love with the view as well as with the spacious and well equipped kitchen. There was nothing more fabulous then eating a meal with the family in the dining area, the table is perfect for a big group as well as an intimate setting. I would gladly stay there again and look anxiously for the opportunity to do so again! Thanks again for making your beautiful home available to the public! |

my mom, sisters, spouses and kids all met there for Thanksgiving weekend and had the best time. the views are great and we loved walking down the pier out on the sound and watching the crab.
the finished basement area is great for kids to watch movies and having the computer there was really helpful to look up restaurants, weather forecasts, etc.
*tip* i rented a car that had a GPS system, REALLY helpful to get around the area. saw some nice scenic routes this way. |

My childhood girlfriends and I stayed at the Harper House for our annual girls trip. We found the house online and thought it sounded perfect...secluded, on the water, quaint, homey. It absolutely met our expectations! We loved the porch and the view, the master bedroom was perfect for our two pregnant girls, and we loved walking along the water after grabbing coffee at the little shop right in front of the house. Ed was incredible to work with setting the reservation up and he left a nice welcome for us (fresh flowers and wine) upon arrival.
We created wonderful memories at the Harper House - and it will forever be a part of our living history as friends. I recommend the Harper House to anyone looking for a place to stay that feels like an old family cottage and leaves a lasting impression. |

Greetings Ed, We were excited to stay at Harper House....and we were overwhelmed at what an awesome home you have created! Plus, the weather was perfect. A lot better than all the rain here in Flagstaff that week. Thank you for a beautiful home. Our family fit in it perfectly, and having the basement for the younger crowd was an added bonus. Since Bill and I love to cook, your kitchen, big kitchen table nook and openness to the living room was a cooks and hosts delight. Bill and I truly loved the master bedroom suite and it's spaciousness, views and slept the nights away. And the 1 minute drive to the Southworth ferry is worth the price of admission! You are to be complimented on your attention to extras...the movies, music, decor, kitchen utensils and appliances, great beds, and an abundance of light switches! Finally, when we left we had them memorized! We will be sharing our great trip with friends who shared an interest in your home. So you may have some more Flagstaffians (?) contact you. We hope to contact you again down the road for a summertime visit. Thank you again for providing our family a place to enjoy ourselves and create new memories of time together. | We spent a glorious weekend at The Harper House, celebrating our daughter's engagement. The short ferry ride took us to another world. We felt like we were miles and miles from Seattle and the bustle of the city never intruded. We had some mist and rain and it never stopped our adventures. We walked on the beach at low tide, explored the drive along the Hood Canal, ate the best lemon pepper smoked salmon at Hama Hama, and came home to the wonderful house. We cooked gourmet meals, played games at the breakfast nook table, and and talked in front of toasty fires. Everone took turns luxuriating in the master bath shower surrounded by steamy water from five shower heads. This house is so warm and welcoming, and we felt that we were sharing our wonderful times with all the other families that have been guests. We will be back soon. |

| WOW what a great place to take a much need vacation!! The master bedroom and bath are truly the best and so is the kitchen for those who like to cook. The view is just delightful and sooo relaxing. Derek is a great fishing guide for those who fish and George is the one to take you on his plane to see sights not seen from the ground. Ed is one terrific host and left no stone unturned. He will give youthe phone numbers or flyers needed for these two guys..We WILL be back. |

What a perfect place to relax and get a true feel for Puget Sound. The views are breathtaking and the home is comfortable and cozy. This vacation was planned to spend quality time with our son, daughter in law and grandsons who moved from Massachusetts to the peninsula in September 2003. The house and yard provided the perfect setting for family and friends to relax and enjoy a spaghetti feed whipped up in the Harper House kitchen. Our grandsons especially enjoyed the yard during the day and the home theatre in the evening. Thank you, Ed, for sharing your home with us during our stay in the beautiful state of Washington - we will definitely be back!! Patricia & Richard Walsh Stoneham, Massachusetts |

Many thanks for making our stay at the Harper House so great! Absolutely beautuful spot... My wife and I and another couple come down to the Olympic Peninsula for a golf holiday every year and the Harper House has been far and away the best accomodation we have found. Perfect to relax and cook in and to feel like a home away from home. And so close to some of the State's best golf courses! Put us in the calendar for next year, Ed. We will definitely be back.

"We had a fabulous girls' weekend here. We love your house and are carrying away some great memories. The 4 of us left our husbands and kids home and relaxed in your comfortable place all weekend. We're childhood friends and we reminisced in front of the fire in the evening and around the table over breakfast in the morning. We can see why you wouldn't give up this house - it's a dream home."

| We absolutely loved this beautiful cottage overlooking the water of Puget Sound. Very tranquil and serene surroundings and conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of Seattle yet only a short ferry ride away. I loved looking across the water at night and seeing the lights of Seattle. This is a very well appointed house that will not disappoint. |

I just read the guestbook and saw that there are so many people from far away, but I have to say this is an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of Seattle life. Just a short drive to the Fauntleroy Ferry and then... well, I guess I can only say that while on the Ferry, you really are transported to another world. Waking up with the ocean breeze and the smell of fresh cut grass was all the vacation I needed. A glass of wine on the deck snuggled next to the outdoor fireplace didn't hurt either. My boyfriend and I LOVE it here and we'll be back again and again. And, oh yes, that view? You can see it from the bed in the master bedroom. Don't hesitate. Just go. I mean, wait! Don't go! I want it all to myself!! ;-) |

We rented this house as a weekend girls get- away to celebrate a friend's upcoming nuptials and it was perfect - relaxing, so comfortable that we weren't worried about going anywhere, and luxurious. All guests must indulge in the upstairs shower! We cooked up a storm in the large kitchen, barbecued off the downstairs deck, searched the stars on the upstairs deck next the the roaring outdoor chimney, and spent countless hours sitting in the huge breakfast nook chatting, drinking coffee, and playing games. It was a treat, complete with king size bed upstairs for four-across movie watching! Indulge yourself! |

| This house was so much fun to stay at!! Absolutely my favorite room is the upstairs master suite, beautiful painted walls, I love the faux finish. The views are breathtaking.. I could sit out on the porch drinking coffee all day. Wonderful rock work that takes you down to the water, where you can get a latte from Audrey (be careful, she often adds an extra shot)!!My kids loved walking on the rocks when the tide was low, finding shells and lifting rocks to see little crabs. Cute little baseball field down the street which was fun for my 6 year old son.All in all I had no complaints, loved everything about this house. Our vacation was very calm and relaxing, we did hop on the ferry a few times, I shopped while my husband went to a Mariners game. I actually think my kids' favorite thing was riding on the "big boat"!!Have Fun!! We did!! |

| I stayed at the Beautiful Blake Island View Lodge and will say it's one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations I've ever experienced. The view from the master bedroom is breath-taking. While sitting on the deck one morning drinking my coffee I saw the eagles. Really, the pictures do not lie. The masterbath shower, with a view of the sound is an experience that should not be missed. Great Kitchen, beautiful roof deck. I highly recommend it! |

This house could not have been more perfect for what my family and I were looking for. It was surprisingly easy to get to, considering how secluded it is from Seattle itself. The ferry ride is easy enough to take every day, and the location of the house is very convenient to the ferry. About the house itself... The pictures do not lie. This house and the surrounding property is absolutely gorgeous, in amazing condition, well-furnished and well-kept. The housekeepers have done a great job with caring for the place. The view is gorgeous from the front porch and most of the front windows, and especially from the top deck. The kitchen area is spacious enough for several people, well equipt, and very conducive to creating our nightly feasts, and especially for our 3-hour July 4th grilling/feasting marathon. It was great to have good sound systems throughout the house, from the home theater downstairs to the stereo in the master bedroom suite. Thanks for leaving the records and CD's, a little Harvest Moon never hurt anyone. Having high-speed internet on hand was really helpful too, especially because a few of us were still working while we were on vacation, despite protests :). My family agrees: The master suite shower itself is practically worth the plane ticket and ferry ride to Southworth. All of us came out post-shower feeling like brand-new, exceptionally clean and happy people. My friend described the shower experience "like dim-sum... all steamy and wrapped up in a warm pocket." Ok, that sounds a little excessive, but honestly not far from the truth!
