Dear Karin,
My family and I had a wonderful stay in your Salzburg apartment. We loved that in five minutes we were in the city, or on the autobahn, and in half an hour, we were already by the lakeshore or in the mountains. So all in all, it worked out very well for us.
And nothing compares with Salzburg for sheer beauty!
Please thank Roman and Denise for being so attentive as well.
With all kind regards,
Sir Gilbert Levine

Karin: Thank you for the wonderful stay at your apartment in Salzburg. The unit was great and we appreciate the attention that your son Roman provided us. The only complaint we have is that the weather was rainy, and we really couldn't get the gorgeous picture of the surroundings that we know Salzburg has to offer. Maybe next time we'll hit better weather. All the best, Murray |

Homeowner Response:
Thank you so much for your entry!
Welcome to Salzburg! It's raining, but that makes you very fortunate to experience this beautiful city during a unique phenomena indigenous to Salzburg - the locals call it "Schnürlregen" and that means 'string rain', when the rain falls it looks like string and not individual drops.
The best things about the bad weather are the yummy pastries which I'm sure, were created to compensate for the rain that falls in Salzburg!
Equipped with your wet weather gear, a hat and/or an umbrella, you are now ready to brave the elements and discover the city from the 'inside' with our wet weather tips: A mountain of newspapers and a cup of tea or coffee in one of the traditional Salzburg Cafes. They are very popular during bad weather. Shopping – visit your favorite shops and treat yourself to a piece of local handcraft! Museums! There are plenty to choose from, like: Mozart's birthplace, Mozart's residence, the Rupertinum, Künstlerhaus, Carolino Augusteum or the Haus der Natur (Nature Science Museum). There is nothing nicer than a stroll along the river Salzach when it rains: you will not get as wet under the thick canopy of leaves from the chestnut trees. And nothing could be more romantic when it rains than a ride in the "Fiaker" (horse and carriage), covered, of course.

Karin, Thank you for sharing your lovely Salzburg apartment. I was comfortable and conveniently located by a bus stop and bakery. Since we were there only two nights we ate out during our stay but with your fully equipped kitchen it would help vacations trying to stay on a budget and cook in. Your son was very welcoming and answered all our questions regarding site seeing in Salzburg. For someone looking for a place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city your apartment is perfect. Thanks again, Yvonne |

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Salzburg. The Vacation Rental apartment made our visit trouble- free. Roman met us at the appointed time and everything was in perfect working order and our family felt at home in your home. The maps and additional information also helped. The location is very good to get around to all the sites including the centre of the city. Very easy to find and very comfortable to sleep, hang out, eat, cook, shower, etc. We would definitely consider staying at your place again. The only one thing that could have been explained a little clearer was the availability of laundry in the basement. Eventually we found it and got it to work but it would be good to include this in your offering and have Roman explain how it works with the electricity, etc. That would be the only negative. Internet worked fine as well. Thanks very much! Make it a great day! Greetings, Andrew Latorcai |

Dear Karin and Roman, Thanks so much for all your assistance in planning our trip and during our stay in Salzburg. The apartment was perfect for our needs and we have no complaints at all! The size of the rental was good for the four of us and the apartment was also well-furnished (we love IKEA and in fact, just visited our local IKEA and the kids were happy to see some of the same items from the apartment!). The apartment was well-located in a nice residential area with convenient shopping, especially the bakery just steps outside the apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend your rental to anyone planning a visit to this lovely city. Thanks again, Kathleen |

Access: 5 minute drive or taxi from the airport. 10 minute drive from the apartment to the city centre of Salzburg. No 28 bus (about 20 minutes) into the city. Parking was 10 metres from the front door on the street. There are 6 steps up into the apartment.
Location: Etrichstrasse is in Taxham, a satellite suburb of Salzburg near the airport and ring road. The apartment is located in a clean and tidy housing estate, with gardens. You can hear the planes every now and again but they are not that annoying.
Presentation: The apartment is functional and spacious. It is nicely furnished with a lovely sitting room, large sofa and big LCD cable TV. WiFi internet included fast service. Mostly IKEA furniture. If you want something with flower window boxes, gables and Austrian character; go elsewhere as the exterior is an unexciting apartment block. This is a practical choice for accommodation. It was perfect for our needs.
Layout: 1 double bedroom and 1 single bedroom / office. Separate toilet to bathroom (with lovely deep bath). Pleasant seating area for meals is in a room adjoining the kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and utensils.
Reason for accommodation choice: We stayed here as I wanted an apartment for 3 people that allows a bit of relaxation and living space, as we were not going to be going out in the city at night. Also my friend has limited walking capability so we needed a car. It can be expensive to find somewhere in central Salzburg that also has parking.
Comment: It was fun to live in a local area and not be treated like a tourist and try out our German! There is a Billa and Lidl supermarket nearby. There are small shops in the housing estate. Most shops in the area are shut on Sunday so prepare for this. We bought some food from the Augustiner Braustubl on the Sunday. It took 10 minutes to drive to the Hohenfestung or the Congress Centre. Get the large hotel brochure with map from the airport information desk as the free ones in the city are too small to find Taxham. Taxham is also located near the Euro park shopping centre which has a multiplex cinema and lots of shops. The owners are helpful. It could be a good base for a business person as the second single bed bedroom has an office / desk set up. If you have SatNav, bring it. Bring collapsible umbrellas as the city is known for rainfall. We bought a 2 day Salzburg card which is well worthwhile, it gets you into the Hohenfestung, Museums, Untersberg Cable car to top of the mountain, Salzach river cruise, Hellbrunn Palace and gardens and other tourist sights. We did the Panorama Sound of Music Tour which was fun. Bobs Tours does small groups in a mini bus which also appear to be a good choice. A great stay!
