We have enjoyed 9 wonderful days at Paulele in beautiful Hanalei. We had considered several other houses when making our travel arrangements, and could not be happier with our choice. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Our family of five had planned to do more sightseeing and other activities while here, but we found that we could not tear ourselves away from beautiful Hanalei Bay. We walked everywhere we went in town, including the wonderful farmer's market, and a short stroll across the street to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have felt truly spoiled the entire time we've been here. Anne was very gracious and helpful, even calling during our stay to make sure we were happy with Paulele. We highly recommend it and hope to return again.

We just spent two-and-a-half wonderful weeks at Paulele. Having been on the island of Kauai before, we knew we wanted to stay in Hanalei. In this laid-back town, Paulele occupies a perfect location: just a short stroll from the beach, yet still in comfortable walking distance to all the stores and restaurants.
The house itself exceeded our expectations. It was very airy, spacious and comfortable. Everything you could ever need or want for your vacation is provided, from beach towels and chairs to board games and books. Our young children especially enjoyed the hammock on the lanai and the basket with legos. I enjoyed picking papayas for breakfast and collecting fresh avocados from the trees in the back yard. If we ever have the opportunity to come back to Kauai, we will definitely stay at Paulele again.

I came to Hanalei for the first time in 1986. Westin had opened up at Lihue and we took a drive. On that drive we found Hanalei Bay. I have been back to Kauai 10 times since and 2 wives later, I introduced Rhoni to Hanalei for the first last week. I had given her a narrative on what was around the corner here and there, but when drove into the driveway at Paulele, she was taken aback. The home is just what you would expect from a caring family who is willing to share a pineapple week in their Hanalei home. Anne, great job. Every morning, we would wake, have our breakfast and head to the beach. Rhoni had never seen sand so fine. The beach, as perfect as it can get, had very few visitors, so it felt like it was our beach and we said aloha to all our new friends that walked by us on 'our' beach. We took a 1 day trip to the other side and immediately new why we were at Hanalei. Rhoni and I had the most romantic, sweetheart week of our lives. Oh yea, I have 2 little girls, 7 and 9, who weren't there for this trip. I definately will be taking the kids next time. Postcards, CJ's, and Bar-cuda were best for dinners, Tahiti Nui for the local crowd and local music, weekend rock and roll didn't cut it with us. Beach all day, cocktails at dusk, outstanding meals, and the relaxing atmosphere of Paulele. It just doesn't get any better than that. I highly recommend Paulele for those who want to experience the true Hanalei and everything around it has to offer. One doesn't have to venture out to have a relaxing time with their loved ones, its right there in front of you. Take it from us, this is truly the way to go.

We can think of no better place to enjoy one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in the world. Your home's location, landscaping, floor plan, and ambience are as close to perfection as a Hanalei sunset. We spent an unforgettable seven days here with our two adult sons and our future daughter-in-law, all of whom were overwhelmed with the charm and utility of Paulele. Aloha and mahalo in a big, big way from the Butler family of San Antonio, Texas.

The house was fabulous. The overall consensus was
that it was the best home we’ve had in 10 years of
Hanalei visits. The lanai is terrific and we enjoyed the
various sitting areas of the house. We’d love to visit
again.

The house was perfect. Great location, great layout, well kept and private. Everyone enjoyed being so close to the beach, and the shuffle board. We would definitely stay here again.

We have been to Hanalei many times, but our recent visit and stay at your house was the best trip we have had. I chose this house because I needed a 4 bedroom house, and wanted to be near the beach and the town, so that everyone could get along without a car and do their own thing. It was great. The location is wonderful. Everyting you need for a great vacation is already there. The house is large enough that everyone felt that they had enough space and privacy. Early morning walks on the beach, and sun sets over Bali Hai. Pretty hard to beat.

As we left Hanalei, and the beautiful home, Paulele, we were already beginning to plan our return trip! The house is beautiful, and we loved the garden and the incredible birds frequenting the tropical trees and plants. The house is furnished with everything you need including dsl internet service, and Anne provides you with wonderful local recommendations which added a lot of pleasure and adventure to our trip. Five bathrooms, and six showers made morning "rush hour" very easy for our family. The bedrooms are each very private and every room is nicely furnished and very well maintained. Our friends who have stayed in hotels in Hawaii are envious when they see our photos of Paulele. We loved walking to town for morning coffee at Java Kai, or a lite meal at Bar Acuda, and appreciated the equally short walk to the beach for evening sunsets by the pier. The beach was never crowded, in fact at times, we had it mostly to ourselves.....this place is a treasure!! We hope to return soon to Hanalei and to Paulele!!!

We recently celebrated our daughters' graduations
from 8th grade and high school with a two week
trip to Kauai ... the highlight being our week at
Paulele in Hanalei.

The location was perfect -- easy access to the
beach and a short walk to town. The yard was
beautiful and the views enchanting. The multiple
bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect -- no
waiting for a shower, the two master bedrooms
were delightful and spacious. There were so many
different places to hang out everyone could find
their own special place.

The true magic of the vacation is Hanalei itself. The
beach was long and uncrowded; the water clear
with a sandy bottom that seemed to go forever. We
rented a surf board at Hanalei Surf Shop for 3 days
for $35 dollars and both our daughters were up and
surfing on the gentle summer waves. Mornings at
"little" Lumahai (I think it's really called Kahalahala
Beach) were beautiful; sunsets on the beach
spectacular and the night skies unreal -- so many
stars!

We barbecued the fresh fish from the Dolphin Fish
Market (their sushi rolls are delicious as is the fish
chowder); grilled hot dogs on a stick at our beach
bonfires and ventured over to pizza at Tahiti Nuis
(which still has the best mai tais) and an incredible
dinner in Kilaweia at the Lighthouse Bistro. Shave
ice, Lappert's Ice Cream, mixed plate -- Hanalei has
it all.

We found great body surfing in Kalihiwai Bay and
just north of Kapaa at Allomanu. Poipu Beach was
way too crowded after Hanalei, as was Kalapaki.
Ono Burgers in Anahola make the drive worth it!

I first came to Hanalei in 1982 and while there
certainly have been changes, it still feels relaxed
and uncrowded ... until you drive to the end of the
road and try to find a parking place at 9:00 am. I
was shocked.

Anne couldn't have been more helpful in making
the arrangements for the house which was spotless
on our arrival. The gardener pointed out the papaya
tree and avocados and gave us tips on what to do.
The neighbors said hello and we felt right at home
from the first moment we arrived and left feeling
the true Aloha spirit! We'll be back.

We just returned from our stay at Paulele and I am ready to book it again for next year! What a fabulous house! Surrounded by a lush garden, you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet it's a 5 minute walk into town and to the beach. The house is totally equipped with everything you need...from games and puzzles for rainy days to beach chairs and towels for beach excusions. We had seven people in our party and we had PLENTY of room to spread out and enjoy the house. We loved....the outdoor shower, shave ice at Paradise Shave Ice, coffee at Java Kai, snorkeling at Tunnels, riding at Silver Falls Ranch, tubing with Kauai Back Country Adventures, Polynesia Cafe, Hanalei Mixed Plate, Tropical Taco, Fruit Frosties at Banana Joe's (near Kilauea),surfing/swimming at Hanalei Bay, reading in the hammock and the peacefulness of Paulele. Thank you, Anne, for sharing your wonderful home with us!

We were in Hanalei for a wedding, and it is no mistake that our friends chose to be married there, it is a truly magical place. We have been to Kauai several times before and now prefer the north shore as beautiful, mild-paced, and fun. Anne made planning a pleasure, and the home worked wonderfully for a family of four with two small children (we stayed on the upper floor only). We have stayed in vacation homes in the area, and truly enjoyed the ability to walk a few minutes to both the beach (the hot outdoor shower was a plus) and the downtown (which is an ideal size for our tastes). Paulele is well-appointed, airy, and exudes calm.

The only question is when we will return....

Beautiful Paulele was our choice to celebrate a 60th birthday, 40th anniversary and a reunion with our dear friends from Florida.

From the first contact with Anne, I felt that I had made a new friend. She was so warm and helpful and several e-mails were exchanged before our arrival.

This was our third visit to Hanalei and we are hooked on this magical place. The house was perfect with each couple having matching master suites.

When we were not on the beach or walking to town for pineapple/coconut muffins at Java Kai, we enjoyed relaxing in the hammock or on the deck.

Shuffleboard games were the order of most evenings and dinner at Bali Hai in Princeville was a highlight of the trip.

The rooster, Cardinales, plentiful avacados for guacamole, rainbows, mountain views... so many wonderful memories until the next visit.

Thank you Anne and Doug!

Given the chance to return year after year, we simply would tell you that our stay was mediocre at best, and suggest you look elsewhere!

That however could not be further from the truth of our experience vacationing at Paulele in Hanalei. The Newman's home could not be more perfect. The only thing we found lacking was time to relax in all the wonderful areas of the property. The two master suites offered us all the privacy we needed...except from our dear rooster friends who partied all night! This is truly a dream come true rental property when you have a group and crave privacy all at once. Cook in with all the wonderful fish and sushi rolls at Hanalei Dolphin Fish Market!!! Trust me, we truly miss the many fish dinners with japanese rice at our beach house! Wednesday nights at Tahiti Nui provided some of the best electric surf music you'll find and a fabulous local vibe. And sunset shared talking story with the locals at the pier, is what makes traveling a part of living.

We are truly blessed to have stayed at this fantastic property, and hope we will again have a group to fill it's many nooks. Mahalo for inviting us into your home and sharing the beautiful town of Hanalei with us. How blessed we were to not be the many that passed thru, but the few that felt local for the gift of a few days!!!

Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo~!!!!

Our 30th trip to Kauai--27th time in Hanalei--
a second home to our family! Paulele is
absolutely the best house we've stayed in
over the years! There are so many different
areas both inside and outside the house that
we never felt crowded! Also, the house is
wonderfully equipped with almost
everything one could need for a Hanalei
vacation. We were surrounded by friends
who have been staying on the North Shore
for as many years as we have; so it was a
wonderful reunion for us and our kids and
grandkids! We've already left our deposit for
next year....only 11 months and 3 weeks to
go!!!!

Where do I start? I don't know if the house or Anne is better. I have been renting homes through vacation rentals for quite a few years now and have never encountered a more helpful and informative hostess than Anne. By the time we all got to Hanalei I felt like I had already been there and knew where everything was, which made for such an enjoyable vacation. I can't thank Anne enough for all her help and hospitality.

Now for the house. This house is the most incredible house I have ever rented. The location couldn't be any better. Everything you need is at your fingertips. The house itself is such a comfortable set up and is situated in the most lush landscape I have ever seen. I thought I was gonna die when I woke up the first morning and saw the view of the mountains from my ever most comfortable bed.

Hanalei itself is the most relaxing place I have ever been. The people are so friendly and laidback. And the food is the best I have ever tasted. Wether it was from one of the little restaurants at the local shops or the magnificent Princeville. I do recommend their breakfast buffet. What an incredible setting and the food is to die for.

I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday and brought along our 4 closest friends. This house was perfect for us because everyone had their own private room and bathroom and at the same time we were able to all be together in the main house. It was spectacular. We stayed for 12 days and still felt like we only scratched the surface of what Hanalei had to offer. No one wanted to go home and all of us can't wait to get back. Anne's house will definately be the place we return to. You will be missing out on the best experience of your life by not staying at Anne's house and visiting Hanalei.

Come and enjoy it as much as we did. Thanks again so much Anne, you are the best.

We stayed here for one week and that was not nearly long enough. Before getting to Paulele house I was a little nervous because I had only seen pictures of the house on the internet. However the house turned out to be gorgeous. It was very clean and very large. Anne has done a great job in providing everything you need. Anne has provided so many things we especially liked the beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers to take to the beach. The outdoor shower is the best all the kids would race home from the beach to be the first one to use it.

We loved the area of Hanalei. It is so beautiful and there are so many things to see. Some of the things we did were:

Helicopter ride from Jack Harters (I highly recommend this - It is the most surreal experience I have ever had.)

Luau at the Princeville Hotel. Very good food and entertainment.

Snorkeling at Lyndgate, Poipu and Ke'e beaches. The drive to Ke'e beach is great.

Surfing and boogie boarding on the beach right by the house which is just a short walk.

These are a few things we did. We had a GREAT time.

We would highly recommend this house. Anne is great to deal with. She gave us some helpful hints and was always willing to answers any question we had. This was our first trip to Kauai and we hope to come back again.

Anne and Doug's house in Hanalei is absolutely gorgeous! When we arrived at night, we were unable to view the grounds, but in the morning, we discovered we were surrounded by a lush, tropical landscape that offered a great deal of privacy. The style of the house was perfect for our two families of four. The two separate master bedrooms offered comfort and seclusion surrounded by windows. It was fabulous waking up in the morning to the sounds and smells of the island. Best nights sleep in ages!

The family areas are so well thought out. There are areas where everyone could be together, or break up into little groups for different pursuits. We loved the hammock on the covered lanai and enjoyed eating at the picnic table.

The location of the property couldn't be better. We were able to walk to town for dinner and of course, to the beach! And, you don't need to bring any gear for the beach, Anne and Doug have provided nearly everything you could possibly need.

The cleanliness and luxury of the accomodations made our vacation truly seem like paradise. What a house! Without hesitation, I would recommend it to anyone heading to Hanalei.

A perfect place for our Ladies' Getaway!
We loved the outdoor living areas. Lots of tables and chairs on the huge wrap-around deck, some open to catch the sun and some covered so we could enjoy the warm and fragrant air even when raindrops fell. The lovely wood floors inside felt so smooth and cool on our bare feet. We also liked being walking distance to the nice shops and restaurants in Hanalei, as well as to the beach where we enjoyed the sunset serenade by local musicians.

We rented Paulele for a mini family reunion and it was perfect! The house has a great common area large enough for everyone to lounge about and talk or play games or just veg out. The bedrooms were gorgeous, especially the two master suites in the back of the house. We also spent some time in the hammock.

But, we didn't do too much lounging. The location was ideal. It is right across the street from Hanalei Bay Beach and a short drive to the Na Pali coast as well as very close to Princeville.

Again, we had a great time, and I would highly recommend it to large families or groups.

Paulele is an ideal vacation spot for young and old, athletes and couch potatoes, alike. It offers guests both privacy as well as a great environment for sharing time together. While three of the bedrooms have separate entrances, the fourth is ideal for children or others who want to be close to home’s main rooms. The house has five places to share a meal or a game, a generous number of places to lounge around or chat and even a hammock for a snooze.

Vistas include the ocean through palm trees just beyond the homes across the street, a lush, green garden, and the hills of the Napali coastline. You might find a gecko on your screen door, a coconut on the lawn, or an avocado in the backyard. If you stay in one of the master bedroom suites, you’ll enjoy the soothing feel of bamboo wood against your bare feet. You’re just miles from the wettest place on earth but, fear not. It only rained heavily a couple times during our three+ week stay and it did so at night. We welcomed occasional light showers during the day. They were refreshing and would give way to bright sunshine again in no time or give us a good excuse to engage in indoor activities.

Paulele is a great launching pad from which to do lots or nothing at all. There were four adults in our group varying in age from 40 to 84, with assorted energy levels. My sister got up at dawn, walked a few moments into town and purchased hot cinnamon rolls for our breakfast. She and another guest would visit up to three beaches a day, go snorkeling, swimming, kayaking or hiking. Others of us would start off with cup of Kona coffee in bed, followed by breakfast on the balcony and then wander over to the beach by noon. Later in the day we’d stroll into town to shop or have a massage. Then we’d all join up with the others to grill fresh fish on the BBQ, have supper in town and/or to listen to live music at a local café.

Secretly, I’d prefer that not too many more people find out about this gem. I cannot wait to return!

My husband, daughter and I have vacationed with another family since our kids were together in preschool. We`ve been in Hanalei 6 of the last 7 years. Anne and Doug`s house is unsurpassed, especially for 2 families like ours. With two master suites, each set of parents could enjoy space and privacy; the kids had their own rooms and their own bathrooms. The house is comfortably furnished. We found everything we needed and then some. We ate indoors; we ate on the front lanai; we did puzzles. The kids and my husband especially played shuffle board. (He`s always the oldest kid on the beach.) And the beach! For those of you who haven`t been to Hanalei, well, I`m not sure how to describe it. It`s quiet and incredibly beautiful. Paulele, Anne and Doug`s house, is a short walk across the street from the most gorgeous beach I know. We also frequently walked into town for shopping and shave ice. Anne is a personal, efficient and friendly woman; the property management group in Hanalei were heplful and responsive. I will not hesitate to call Anne again to rent her home. We enjoyed ourselves and are grateful for the privilege.
