"36 years ago, 2 girls from different parts of Maryland met. It was our first night as Freshman at Lees McCrae college. We then hiked Linville Falls and ate ice cream in Blowing Rock, visited the Mast General Store, hiked the Falls in Valle Crucis, explored Linville Caverns and biked around Seven Devils – what a busy time! We ate at some of the best country style restaurants while here including The Daniel Boone Inn, Tabby’s, The Ham Shop, The Rock House Restaurant in Linville. We also discovered a great place to shop in Boone – The Farmer’s Mercantile and the Antique Store down the street. They have wonderful finds and prices.

"This place is awesome!! We drove in Monday afternoon to a delightful snow with several inches on the ground. This is exactly what we were hoping for. "10-24-10-31 Our week here has gone by much too fast!! The leaves were beautiful and the early snow (2+ inches) was a special treat. We enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and discovering the lake at the top of the roadk, hiking at Moses Cone park, Grandfather Mountain and off the parkway and of course the hot tub especially when it was snowing. Our snowman venus the hot tub were even more fun. Haley our corgie was in nose overload all week - she had a blast! We ejoyed everything about the cabin and we'd lvoe to come back.

"Dear Deb & Kevin - Well, we've just arrived for our (what # visit is this?). Anyway, as usual we've settled in and feel quite at home and at peace. We visited Boone, had a delicious meal at Melanies and shopped a few of our favorite haunts. Came here and walked one of the loops to see that you have some new neighbors building in the neighborhood. Now its time for that awesome fire and a glass of wine and whatever the time, no plans means bliss!
Fri - late waking up and on to Blowing Rock for lunch at Stories St Grill where it was a very pleasant surprise to find I cold bet a veggie plate. Had a mission to accomplish (successful at gems by gemine) then came back to recoup before meeting a neice and boyfriend for dinner at Beefy O'Brady's Family Sports Pub - cute and good food! They came back to the cabin with us for the night - they LOVE High Country Fever! Imagine that - don't we all. Oh and the hot tub too!
Sat - Eveyone is up farly early. My other half is in the hot tub already but the rest of us are just showing and getting dressed. We treated our guests to breakfast at Sunrise Grill one of our regulars if we can say that now. The boyfriend had appointments to keep so we said bye to him and the 3 of us toured part of the parkway and enjoyed a short hike at the cascades. Neice said her goodbyes and its back to being a duo. We're soon captured by naps and movies on the tube while the fireplace blazes on. This stress free living could be addictive! This place is the best hide out we know.
Sun - Not quite 8Am and one load of laundry is already going. Other half is in the houttub experiencing his last round of bliss. It truly is wonderful here and we can't tell you how much we appreciate your good taste and foresight in putting such and awesome place on the map (its so close for us to visit). We'll head over to visit Mom for a couple of nights from here. Maybe we'll eventually get her to come here with us sometime. Anything is possible! Until our next visit either here or with you... TE & JC"

We forgot to sign your guest book, but I just wanted you to know how much fun we had at your cabin. It was so peaceful and relaxing, just being in that setting. Everything was so clean and neat and we loved the decorations, the views, the location, the fireplace, the hot tub and everything else......... We would really like to have a place like that some day. We've always stayed in hotels or condominiums for vacations, but this is so much more fun and relaxing.

We're back! No surprise I'm sure since you know from previous visits we LOVE it here. This time we're celebrating our 15 year anniversary! This area will always be special to us since we honeymooned at Chetota and from what I remember girl - they've got nothing on you!! Don't get me wrong - Chetola was great but 'High Country Fever' is much more cozy.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, CD player and fireplace and the absence of phone calls and computers!! We even got to enjoy the Boone Christmas parade while having breakfast at the Boone Bagelry.

Wow! What a week this has been! This is the best vacation we have ever had. We went hiking, gem mining, bicycling, white water rafting, fishing, horse back riding, "Tweetsie-ing", Linville "Cavern-ing", and did lots of exploring. I even managed to find 2 scap book stores! The best part, though, was coming 'home' each night after a long day of adventures. Your home was so warm and welcoming - it was very hard leaving. The boys (5,6 & 10) had a ball. Chandler though he was king of the world sleeping in the loft. We even shot our holiday pictures of the boys in front of the fireplace. We promised the boys that we'll come back since we didn't use the jacuzzi.

What a fabulous retreat! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your "perfect cabin". I iwll say when we arrived, the snow was too much - we had to go get a "4-wheeler" Let the adventure begin!
We so loved the woods surrounding and as the snow melted, your little angels appeared in the garden - cute!
The towns offered our teens fun as well, tubing and a wonderful horseback ride in the country was just what we all desired. Wow - what a great Christmas for all of us. We have already planned to come back again in the summer. We would not even think of a more pefect place!

How can we eer thank you for salvaging our restful and long overdue vacation when Ophelia evacuated us from you absolutely charming beach cottage on Oak Island - we were faced with a bleak week back home near the computer, emails & phones. Instead of a great tan, we got lots of exercise (much needed), water massages (hot tub) and a great, restful get away from everything retreat.
Our weather was perfect and my moms' dog "Tob" loved laying on the front porch with his nose poking through the slats, looking at the beautiful views! Thank you so much for everything. We cannot wait to visit the Love Shack again and hope it made it through the hurricane without any damage! We loved the Bose radios and really appreciate the quality linens!
As our week draws to a close, we are feeling relazed, rested and ready to return & Simplify!!

"You have a lovely vacation home with a fabulous view of Grandfather Mountain. We enjoyed watching the mountain change with the weather. In one day we had sun, snow, sun, sleet and another light snow as we sat in the hottub.
This was our first experience sitting in the hottub with a light snow hitting our faces - we will definitely be back!
You have the cabin decorated so warm & cozy, we felt like we had stayed a week instead of a weekend.
The fireplace is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for all the small touches that made us feel right at home!"

| Must Reccomend!!!!!What a beautiful place!!!! This was the perfect escape for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Its great to get away from the husle and bustle of city life. And your elegant and cozy cabin was just what I needed. The hot tub was a plus, especially with mother nature surrounding it. Truly a magnificent place, thanks for allowing me to share a weekend at such a fabulous home! Cabin is very convienent to nearby necessities, but just far enough for quiet. Thanks again, it was truly a spiritual experience. Debra and Kevin, you were very kind in arrangements as well, thanks. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the High Country. The cabin was excellent! We expecially enjoyed the fireplace on the cool evenings. The wave radio sent superb music throughout the cabin. We also appreciated the cabin privacy and the setting with the view of Grandfather.

For our anniversary, I surprised my boyfriend with a romatic getaway here. We are both locals, living in the heart of Boone's hustle and bustle. Even though we are minutes away from that here, it feels like we are a million miles away. Everything was absolutley perfect and beautiful. This cabin is impeccably decorated and well appointed with plush rolled towels in the bathrooms, comfortable leather couch and chairs, and beautiful antiques throughout. I felt pampered. The surrounding area offers the best of NC mountain scenery and there are tons of things to do. We particularly enjoyed climbing Grandfather Mountain, visiting it's animal habitat (and feeding the bears), visiting the Moses Cone Craft center, buying penny candy at the Mast General Store in Valle Crusis and touring Appalachain State University. I wish we had more time!

What a wintery weekend! Thank God for 4-wheel drive. Skiing was excellent! Sitting in the hottub during snowfall was a surreal experience. I never thought I'd want a log cabin until we stayed here. We spent some good quality family time (minus the scategories incident).

This house is perfect for either families or one or two couples.
Within minutes of the Blueridge Parkway, Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, etc. (Go see Linville Falls, it is beautiful).
The house is very warm & cozy. Loved the outdoor hottub with the view of Grandfather Mountain!
Also a nice touch to have games & videos on hand (October Sky is a great movie).
It's nice just to hike around the neighborhood (really cool waterfall down the road).
The best of all it's so private up here - et close to everything. Thanks for sharing your beautiful house - we'll be back!!

Your cabin provided the perfect mountain getaway for this Florida family.
We loved our walks around the cabin. Our boys Connor (6) and Carson (2) loved playing in the fall leaves and discovery the waterfall down the road was an added bonus!
All of us enjoyed the wonderful views from the front porch and relaxing in the hot tub. The rubber duckies were a hit!

"We truly enjoyed our mountain vacation! Our boys and us enjoyed the mountain fun. Your 'yard' was so much fun for all of us. We took long walks around your area and enjoyed the special spots around it. The timing was perfect with the Mast General Store Festival and the Wolly Worm Festival.
