The Island is magical and your residence is a perfect place to stay in Paradise.
Our ten weeks went by fast but will be long remembered. Three of my four siblings were able to visit us. In addition, one of Barbara’s Cousins spent several days with us. All expressed what a wonderful place to spend the winter months.
Where do I start?
The new beach is fabulous. It must be 50 yards wide! You can walk a mile North to the Village or a mile south to the Pass and the State Park at the Lighthouse. The huge variety of shells is renewed daily at your doorstep. What could be better than making a drink and sitting on the beach to watch the bright orange sun drop into the Gulf? Not once but every night.
I love to cook and your kitchen is large enough to prepare full meals without a lot of hassle. However, with all the fabulous restaurants in the area it’s difficult not to go out. We tried them all but our favorites on the Island were Temptations (“old Florida”) and the Boca Palms. We also liked the Zydeco Grill (Cajun) on the Placida Road.
The accommodations are great! The master suite is huge and private. Also a great place to see the sunset. There is plenty of room in the two downstairs bedrooms for guests or children. A great family place.
Speaking of family, our 2 pets loved the huge screened in porch. Its elevated so they could watch the resident ospreys and other birds to their hearts content. It’s so nice that you will consider occupancy with pets.
The people at Grande Island Vacations were awesome. They provided support for anything we needed, from minor repairs and housekeeping to local advice on things to do or where to buy stuff.
Finally, I must exclaim how gracious you were before and during our stay. You offer to add a wireless internet connection and unlimited long distance service was really great, especially for a long term guest that must stay in touch with business and / or family.
I can end by offering to be an enthusiastic reference for you any time especially for long term guests or pet people.

Great house, great island, great people! Unfortunately we felt the force of hurricane charley (a bit of an adventure for us Brits) and had to leave before our due departure date.I have to say...this was not because the house sustained any damage..far from it...this fabulous beach house stood up well to 150mph winds and we would have loved to stay, there was however the small problem of no power or water following the hurricane, which made things a bit impossible. We returned to the island as soon as the storm had blown through, stayed over night, but realised the next morning, when speaking to the islanders, that things may take a little while to return to normal. An enormous dissapointment...as we were truly smitten by the Boca experience! Visit this house folks! Hire a golf cart, enjoy the water, eat, drink,be merry, and depart ready to plan next years return! |
