We had the great good fortune to spend the first week of October at this lovely, spacious home in Provence, and can recommend it without hesitation to anyone seeking the beauty and peace of the region. We loved everything about this graceful, Provincal house: its comfort, its look and feel, the quiet and beauty of its setting in vineyard country, and its stunning views of the mountains to the east. A bonus was the charm of the village itself, with its warm, patient shop keepers who appeared to forgive us our countless sins against their language. We were grateful regulars at the small market near the cafe, at the boulangerie, and the butcher. The location was perfect for our explorations into those remarkable, ancient hill towns of the Luberon. We can give no report on restaurants as, with the exception of the occasional lunch while out exploring, we took full advantage of the wonderful local produce with a boost from Les Halles in Avignon and a superb street market in nearby Carpentras and returned, uncharacteristically, to enjoy preparing our own meals. But, we did note many attractive restaurants and wineries scattered throughout the region. There was not a wrong note in any part of our time in this comfortable, lovely, and fully equipped home, and we hope to return. We would be glad to respond by e-mail to any questions. |
