As an adult I often wondered what it would be like to have a time machine. Where I would make it take me if in fact such a machine did exist? I thought of many places and times. How about Rome in the year 33. Maybe, but I don't speak Aramaic, so, eh! More realisticly, how about the place where I spent most of my summers as a kid growing up in the 60's & 70's. The place where time itself didn't realy exist at all. The place where my daily expirience was limited only by own imagination. The place where it was just me, my dog Lady and my BB gun. Does this place still exist? Much to my suprise it did!
While searching the internet in the hopes of finding a little cabin nearby the site of my memories. I came across the add for Black Mountain Reverie. After looking at the site for a moment(and it only took a moment), I realized that I was looking at the front pourch of my long past memories. Could it be? Yes it is, I said to myself. This is it! What a wonderfull surprize! Time travel might be posible after all.
Well, needless to say. After a little planing and the very "gratis" help from the owner. My trip back in time was made possible.
When I arrived, I noticed that everything was just the way I remembered, right down to my grandmother's bird bath(and the bird house) and the doorjam with the markings of my youth and my relatives before me. The whole place was in remarkable shape. I noticed right away that the new owner had made several small improvements that created an ambiance that I had never expierienced before at the cabin. It truly greeted me with open arms.
The three days I spent at the cabin created new memories to put with the old. What a wonderfull time I had.
Thank you so much Donna for making this trip happen. Thank You also for preserving this piece of our family's history.
A note to all those that read this. If you truly want to experience a place that time forgot. Give Black Mountain Reverie chance. You will NOT regret it! |

| In all of my travels, I have never stayed at such a quaint, interesting place! I have just returned home from two days in your lovely cabin, and have already accounted my fond memories to several friends. The fall colors were at peak and so vivid from the screened-in porch. One was virtually right up in the trees with those brightly colored leaves. The rain tapping on the roof our first night there, was so soothing and delightful. Reminded me of my grandmother's home. Trips into Black Mountain and Asheville were very convenient from your location and made for interesting day trips. Thank you for providing such a clean, well equiped cabin for a very memorable getaway.. |

My husband and I spent a week at this remarkable cabin in September 2008 and enjoyed every minute of it. The pictures online, while good, do not do it justice. It is only in person that you actually feel the warm, welcoming, magical energy that radiates thoughout the property. Donna has added so many little personal touches, from chocolate kisses by the bedside to an elaborate and eclectic reading library. You could actually show up there with nothing but the clothes on your back and there is everything else you could possibly need from personal care products to whimsical accessories that delight the eye. There are several grocers within a short driving radius and if you were so inclined, you could just stock up on food and hole up there for the duration, listening to a wide variety of CDs or watching videos or reading. Spending time out on the screened in porch, eating breakfast or dinner or just taking in the beautiful forest-like surroundings is the ultimate indulgence in tranquility and romance. The energy of the place just seemed to magnify even the simplest pleasures. We truly had to force ourselves to get out and see some other sights. At the end of our week there we were very sad to have to leave what had become our home away from home. We will not hesitate to return at our first opportunity. |

| My family and I had a wonderful, wonderful time at this quiet, nestled, well-kept cottage. Donna couldn't have been more helpful . . . not that this would stop her from trying! Our two little girls loved the sleeping loft upstairs and the hammock and the woods in the back. We found everything we needed in the house and Donna always made sure we knew all of the best places to go in the area. LOVED the screened-in porch! Thanks again so much for a memorable time in Black Mountain; one that I'm sure we'll want to experience again. |

| Totally enjoyed our stay at the cabin. From the rain on the rooftop on our arrival night to the perfect weather the rest of the week. Cabin equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The screened treetop porch was the best. Beautiful place to have breakfast in the morning and unwind in the evening! Loved it. It is close to town, so there are occasional neighborhood noises...but would return in a second! |

| My Grandfather was the Florida tycoon who, with his son and two nephews built this cabin. My brother and sister along with our two cousins have fond memories of our summers spent in this wonderful cabin as we were growing up. I am glad to see that it has been fixed up and is being put to good use creating memories for others. One day I hope to come back and stay to rekindle my memories as well. |

Hi, Myself and my family occupied this beutifull little cabin from the late 1930's till somtime in the late 80's I spent many summers there between 1960 and 1978. Talk about a childs paridise. Just think of churning homemade peach ice creme on the front pourch while the smell of chicken and dumplings fills the air, not to mention the apple cobler cools on the front walkway At nite, us kids would sleep on the front pourch bed and listen to the train horn blow way of in the distance as it passed trough the Black Mountain vally on it's way north. I spent most nites in the loft listening to my parents and grand parents play cards and have cocktails on the front pourch. During the daytime there was lots of exploring to do and critters to watch and chase with my Dog "Lady" (Colie of course). There was also a big stash of Grape Nehi's and Moon Pies in the basement. I thought I was being sneeky by only takeing 1 of each per day and consuming them under the fire escape trap door under the front pourch. But I found out later on that my Grand Mother Caroline (the bride from Atlanta) put them there to give me a sense of adventure.
Long story short, everything about this place is magical to child or adult, ya'al, whoever you are should go and make some memories. Now that I know that old place is still there I'm consdering visiting with my daughter sometime soon. |

Homeowner Response:
Thank you so very much for contacting us. We have spent several years and many hours trying to piece the puzzle together (from old deeds, 1926 newspaper clippings left behind on the dusty bookshelf of your grandparents wedding, etc). My own children and grandchildren have been marked on the old doorframe next to you and yours. Many blissful moments have been shared within these walls--thanks to your family! We only hope we can be loving steward of this benevolent land that has been entrusted to our care. We not only love this cabin with all our hearts--IT loves us back (and all who enter its warm embrace!!!
Thank you, McMullen Family, for now and always!!!

| I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location to spend Labor Day weekend! Great area - close to Asheville, Biltmore, rafting, hiking - and a real "home" to come back to in the beautiful and secluded reaches of quaint Black Mountain! Thanks for a great weekend! |

| What a joy is the 'tree house' called Black Mountain Reverie. This was our second visit, and we will come back again and again. It feels like our own place now, but we'd be happy to share it with someone else! |

| Black Mountain Reverie provided the perfect weekend getaway. We arrived in the evening to a chilled bottle of wine, fire in the fireplace, candles, and holiday twinkle lights, which set the tone for the rest of our visit. The cabin is in a great location, and Black Mountain was a fun town to visit in December. We'll definitely return! |

| If I had to choose anywhere in the world to spend time, it would be here. What Donna and Michael has created is no less than a magical hiatus in time. I will be returning for the rest of my life. |

This cabin was a wonderful place to stay. It is near good hiking , rafting, shops, and restaurants while in a secluded setting. The owners are very welcoming and glad to give information about the area. The cabin itself is charming and the screened in porch a delight. |

The cabin is lovely, and the amenities Donna left for us were first class. I really enjoyed NOT being in a hotel and having a kitchen handy. The cabin is secluded enough to feel private, but also close to town (Black Mountain). We had a fun and relaxing 4th of July, and enjoyed touring around the Asheville area too.
