We just returned from a week vacation in NO. Staying at Ron and Mark's place added so much to our enjoyment. It is located close to the Quarter but adjacent to Frenchmen St. which offers the best Jazz in the city. There are also plenty of very good restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. We explored the city more like locals than tourists. This property had everything. It was a great find and I would not hesitate to rent again if it was available. (rental calendar fills up fast). We have had many good experiences while renting properties all over the world and this was certainly one of the best.

Just as the rest of the guests have said, Ron & Mark's Creole Cottage was great! The location is perfect for escaping the craziness of Bourbon Street, but close enough to the French Quarter (3 blocks) that you could walk everywhere. The hot tub and backyard was a very peaceful and relaxing addition that we could not have experienced if we were at a hotel. Ron was a very gracious host and left plenty of New Olreans maps, guide books, and recommendations for great places to eat and visit. He was only a phone call away when we needed anything and even recommended his neighbor as our personal cab driver for the week! The decor of the house is modern, but also gives you that old New Orleans feel. Thanks for a great week!!

Hi Ron & Mark,

Just wanted to send a very belated but heartfelt
Thank You for allowing us to stay in your truly
lovely home during our visit to N.O. last week. We
had such a great time getting to know your
amazing city, and hope for an opportunity to return
sometime in the future. It was such a pleasure to
return each evening, after a long (but fun and
exciting) day of sight-seeing, to relax in your
beautifully-appointed home. We felt completely
spoiled and pampered!!!

We send our very best wishes for all your future
endeavors,

We stayed at 1829 Creole cottage for 4 nights in May 2009. It was a great place--convenient, attractive and very roomy for two. It would be no problem for 4 people as long as you are family or close friends. Ron and Mark were very helpful and had some good suggestions, especially for restaurants. They recommended Marigny Brasserie, a few blocks away. Great food and reasonable prices -- especially compared to the French Quarter. It was so good we went back for a second time on our last night in NO. The house is located within walking distance of the Quarter and the Marigny Triangle, has ample room and pleasant surroundings, and is less expensive than a hotel. The hosts don't invade your space, but are available and cordial if you need any help or suggestions.

My husband and I were simply delighted when we arrived at Ron and Mark's cottage. The accommodations are so comfortable, Ron and Mark have wonderful taste and we really enjoyed our surroundings. There were lovely personal touches that Ron and Mark add to the whole experience. This was our aniversary weekend, and they delivered some wine and cheese to us, so lovely and what a great snack in the wee hours. (We are in NOLA of course). I am happy to recommend this place to friends, and already have. But have warned them that when my husband and I return to New Orleans that we have "dibs" on this place if it is avail!

What a great place! We've stayed at many vacation rentals here in the United States and throughout Europe and this is one of the BEST! It is lovely, comfortable and thoughtfully well appointed. It is convenient to the French Quarter, close to wonderful restaurants and jazz clubs. Mark and Ron are great hosts and very willing to offer assistance or answer questions. We will definitely be returning.

As Tina Turner would say, "You're simply the best. Better than all the rest..." You guys nailed it. This place is awesome. Nothing was missed. The cottage is a short walk to the quarter. Lots of restaurants deliver so if you are tired after a long day, Ron and Mark will give you some suggestions. You can kick back and relax to their great collection of music.

Some of our highlights were: Pearl River Eco Tour in Slidell. Capt. Neil gives a fun tour. Stop for lunch at Turtle Landing Cafe on Hwy 60 E. A dive, but a NICE dive. Eat outside on the swamp.
Mulate's for great food, music and dance. Try the blackened catfish and fried gator.
WWll Museum. Need I say more?
Laura and Oak Alley Plantations in Vacherie. Stop for a meal at B&C Seafood and Cajun. The owner will even show you how to eat the crawfish. Lots of good stuff to take back to the cottage.

We chose New Orleans to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary not knowing any one. We left with great memories and 2 new wonderful friends. Ron and Mark. Thank you both for everything. When you get back to San Francisco look us up. We know a couple of great places to take you to lunch.

We spent 9 days at Pauger Street cottage and truly enjoyed our stay. We have visited NOLA every April for the past 5 or 6 years and have always stayed in the Marigny. Ron & Mark were wonderful hosts, loved the privacy & private hot tub, slept like a baby in the great bed. An all around wonderful stay. Absolutely recommend.

My husband and I stayed at Ron & Mark's lovely creole cottage for 2 1/2 weeks last winter and we had an absolutely fantastic time. The accommodations are delightful, the amenities are perfect and Ron & Mark are the most gracious hosts. The cottage is in a wonderful neighborhood, close to the French Quarter, the Charles Street trolly and to all the great jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street. I've been to New Orleans many times and this cottage was my favorite place to stay, It fun to ' live like a local outside the french Quarter.' Stay here, it a great experience!

What a great place! We will definately be back! Ron and Mark were fantastic hosts and the place was about as relaxing and comfortable as you could possibly wish for when traveling. I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. The area was very easy to get around in and made for a great home base. Cannot say enough about the place, Ron and Mark have all the bases covered, thanks again guys!

Tony & I loved our stay here. Talk about a sweet spot--I'm almost afraid to say too many nice things for fear it will be booked up the next time we want to visit. Ron & Mark are gracious, attentive hosts who respected our privacy while ensuring we had everything we needed to feel comfortable and pampered (loved the robes!). The location is quiet, yet close enough to the action that we walked everywhere we wanted to go--do check out the great jazz at Snug Harbor--and the bed BY FAR the most comfortable we've ever rented. A perfect week in the magic city: who could ask for more? Many thanks!

I stayed in the cottage for a long weekend in January and was beyond impressed with the accomodations. I'm familar with New Orleans, having been here about 6-7 times, although I had only stayed in hotels. The cottage is the best way to get true feel of New Orleans. Similar to other guest comments, the pictures do not do the house justice. The house is meticulous with nice furnishings, great amenities and wonderful location. I will definitely be coming back....

My husband and I had the opportunity to rent Ron and Mark's Creole cottage last week. The cottage is wonderfully furnished, the bed is extremely comfortable and the hot tub is great! It is obvious they take pride in their cottage and ensure that the experience is memorable.

One of the nicest things about the experience was meeting Ron and Mark. They are the warmest, most gracious hosts we have ever met. They opened their home and their hearts to us, and we count them as new friends.

My husband and I stayed at Ron and Mark's cottage from Dec 27-Jan 2. It was a perfect place to stay to celebrate the New Year in New Orleans -- it is in walking distance to the French Quarter and all of the festivities, but cozy and quiet and a relief to come back to at night. When we arrived Ron greeted us and showed us all around the cottage, which is even nicer than the pictures on VRBO show. In addition to supplying everything we could possibly need, Ron and Mark had left maps of New Orleans and plenty of recommendations and brochures of where to go. They were very helpful, and the cottage was spotless and beautiful. We can't wait to come back and stay here again.

My friend Marie and I rented this charming cottage for a long weekend in New Orleans to celebrate our birthdays.

Out of all my various rental experiences, staying with Ron and Mark has been the very best! Thoughtful, courteous hosts, clean and comfortable surroundings, as well as many, many amenities to make it feel like home. The bed was very comfortable, which is always a key element when vacationing and I really appreciated having the outdoor hot tub.

I can't wait to come back with my husband - I know he'll love it, too. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in New Orleans.

Many thanks!

This is THE place to stay in New Orleans, hands down. We were greeted by Ron and upon entering the unit knew this was going to be a wonderful vacation. The pictures on the website are good, but do not convey the space. The rooms are all good sized and the high ceilings really add verticle space. The furnishings are beautiful, and the art is delightful. The kitchen is very easy to cook in with nice appliances. The courtyard is awesome, we spent most of our time relaxing there. It rained the first two days we were there, but no problem as there is a nice covered area right outside the kitchen door. The hot tub was a welcome addition. As for the hosts, they are both such nice and helpful people. They were right next door and available in a moments notice, but allowed us total privacy. The location really is wonderful. It is far enough from the loud quarter, but has the same character as the quarter. Parking was never a problem. We will definetly be back time and time again.
Thanks Ron and Mark!

My friends and I stayed here last weekend (7/18-7/20) and it was perfect!

Some of us had already lived in New Orleans and wanted something authentic and local. Ron and Mark's place was a characteristic NOLA style home, complete with perfect decorations and local accents. The location puts you in walking distance to everything: french quarter, cafe du monde, french market, etc.

I'm looking forward to staying here again in the future.

Instead of being one of those places that looks
better in pictures, this is one of the places that
looks even better in person than it does in the

beautifully decorated, as well as being right in the

The cottage really is as quaint and comfortable as you are led to believe through the VRBO website. The location is perfect for someone who wants to be near the French Quarter while maintaining a quiet distance from boisterous Bourbon Street.
Ron and Mark are also extremely gracious and accommodating hosts. I would recommend a stay at their place to any of my friends and family, and I hope to return again one day as well!

I was lucky enough to stay here for a week back in October, and when I returned to Portland, friends asked me, "Aren't you glad to be home? Isn't it great to sleep in your own bed?" And I had to bite my tongue, because I wanted to say "NO! I want to go back right NOW!"

Both of us can only echo the positive comments posted here already. The rental was beautifully appointed, and its warm decor was ideal for our Christmas holidays stay. Our hosts even decorated a large live tree that lit up the living room and welcomed us in with evergreen aroma! The amenities were all as advertised with no complaints beyond a rather lathery hot tub, and this was easily controlled by scooping out bubbles as needed.

The location is very convenient to the French Quarter as well as the Riverfront streetcar and its connections via the Esplanade station. The Marigny neighborhood itself has a fine assortment of food and music where locals rather than tourists are found. My husband and I hope to return soon to Ron and Mark's charming rental and highly recommend it to all NOLA visitors.

We have stayed in the Marigny several times now and heartily commend the Pauger unit and Ron and Mark. We were more than comfortable and enjoyed the amenities, ambience and the friendly support from our hosts. As a transplanted native (my parents and grandparents lived on nearby Elysian Fields during the first half of the 20th century!) so I have a special affection for the City. I hope our observed truth about it will prevail over the unjustified alarmist wailing of the uninformed. Tourists: go to New Orleans. You will be rewarded!

I stayed in Mark and Ron's charming cottage with my family of 5 for one week in June, and the experience couldn't have been better.

Mark and Ron are the perfect hosts, welcoming and helpful always, and discreet when necessary.

The location is fantastic - far enough from Bourbon Street so that you have the experience of an authentic neighborhood vibe, but close enough that you can walk to all the action.

Mark and Ron have impeccable taste, and the apartment is well-appointed, with lovely linens and towels, everything in its place and right where you need it (even before you know you need it!!).

The price couldn't be better, I hope to stay here every time I come to New Orleans, though of course, I wish I could keep this place all to myself!

We recently stayed at Mark and Rons wonderful property for just one week (unfortunately). What a fantastic place. There was 5 of us all good friends which was important as we had to walk through the bedrooms to get to kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful bed linen, white fluffy towels, cosy lounge and a real treat of a garden. Too busy to get to use the hot tub but maybe next time. Both Ron and Mark were so welcoming and helpful we really think we came up trumps with this choice. All we needed including some really fantastic restaurants were just a short walk away. We stayed at Mark and Ron's Creole Cottage for a week at the end of May. It was a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful place to stay near the French Quarter.

The accomodation was huge for two people, and would easily fit 4 (if you're really good friends, because you do have to go through each of the bedrooms to get to the kitchen, bathroom and living room).

The cottage is extremely well appointed and the kitchen is great for cooking (even has a gas stove/oven). It is about 3 blocks from a very good grocery store and about 8 blocks to the heart of the French Quarter). The neighborhood is quiet, pleasant and doesn't smell like the heart Bourbon Street, thank goodness.

Public transportation is incredibly convenient, you really don't need a car unless you plan on driving outside the city. Tom took the streetcar to the Convention Center each day.

Mark and Ron were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We'll certainly go back to their Cottage next time we head to New Orleans.

My sister & I stayed at Mark & Ron's creole cottage for four nights in April. LOOK NO FURTHER! It was my first VRBO experience. It will not be my last. The cottage is located in an area 2 blocks from the east end of the French Quarter. The eastside of the French Quarter is residential. While the cottage is perhaps 8 blocks away from the restaurant and bars of the French Quarter the walk was the best walking experience I had in New Orleans. Looking at the various houses was very interesting. I felt safe in the area. We walked everywhere even at night but weren't out beyond 10:00 so I can't vouch for the wee hours. The cottage itself is very nice inside. 1st room is a living area, 2nd room a bedroom, 3rd room is a bedroom, 4th room is a kitchen. The bathroom is off the kitchen. To get to the bathroom from the living area you have to go through the bedrooms. This sort of vertical arrangement of the rooms is the standard for creole cottages. The furniture was very nice. Comfortable too. The beds were great. Outside in the back is a small courtyard with a hot tub. The unit has a washer/dryer, full size refrig, DVD player, phone with free local calls (I used a prepaid calling card and it worked), everything necessary to make one's stay enjoyable. Mark & Ron do their best to make sure you enjoy your stay at their place. They were friendly and interesting to talk to yet not intrusive to our limited time in the city. There is a large grocery store within walking distance (10 min.). There are several restaurants in the area. I had a car which I parked in front of the house on the street the whole time. Didn't use it ....didn't need to.
One thought though...If you're coming to New Orleans to raise hell...stay somewhere else. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, the furniture and cottage is too nice to be abused and there are places closer to the Bourbon St. establishments.

Just back from 9 Jazz-Fest filled nights in New Orleans, where we used this cottage as our base. We were all blown away by how great this unit was. The layout of the cottage and all of the furnishings cannot be done justice by the photos on the web. We took advantage of everything from the back-yard garden/patio/hot-tub to the high-speed Internet and 3 large beds. Anything we could have needed for our trip was already there when we arrived - and Mark and Ron enthusiastically helped us to plan out the details of our trip. We also loved the nearby bars/restaurants/cafes on Frenchman Street - a nice alternative to Bourbon (although the proximity to Bourbon St.'s best bar, Laffite's Blacksmith, was a nice bonus). Thanks again Mark & Ron - hope to be back next in 2005!

My wife and I and our adult son enjoyed our stay at Mark & Ron's duplex apartment. They are friendly and helpful. We liked the small garden courtyard at the rear, where we ate breakfast and had wine and cheese before dinner. There are several neighborhood restaurants within a few blocks (we particularly liked the Marigny Brasserie) and it is only three short blocks to the quiet end of Bourbon St. in the French Quarter.
Overnight on street parking is allowed on their block for non-residents, and space was always available.
The kitchen has a nice double sink and is well equipped. The cookware, glasses, dinnerware, tableware, linens and towels are all of high quality. Having a washer/dryer in the kitchen is very convenient.
The neighborhood is mixed racially and economically, but felt safe. Across the street is one of the stables for the horse- (or mule-)drawn open wagons which tour the French Quarter.
Mark and Ron have restored the kitchen and bath nicely; the other rooms have a few squeaky floorboards as you'd expect in an 1829 house. We thought it added to the charm of the cottage. Our only regret is that we were too busy to use the hot tub.
Mark and Ron's rental is a good value, particularly for those who find old houses appealing, and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

Just returned from staying at the cottage and
absolutely loved it! It is decorated
beautifully and I felt like I was at home
immediately. The place is immaculate and
there are extra supplies of linens, towels,
etc. Mark and Ron were awesome and very
helpful in helping us find our way around the
neighborhood. I would highly recommend
their place and definitely plan to come back!
Thanks Mark and Ron and hello to Milo!

If you are going to visit New Orleans, then this is where you must stay!!!! This cottage is absolute perfection and
the owners, Mark and Ron, are so wonderful you will be overwhelmed with
your good fortune. Everything that you could possibly need is provided with great style. The décor is very easy on the eyes and extremely comfortable.
The beds are fabulous and you will be thrilled to discover the sheets are Egyptian cotton….WOW! If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen will make you smile when you walk in. I fell in love with the sink. You will only know what I am talking about when you get there yourself. Do not hesitate to rent this lovely cottage. Not only will you have an amazing time while in New Orleans also, as a bonus you will gain two new great friends.

To Mark and Ron: If I could come back tomorrow, I would be there in a flash. You made my time in New Orleans very memorable. Thank you for all your generosity. You definitely exceeded my expectations. Love , Roz

Mark and Ron's apartment is my third VRBO rental in three years and by far the best. The immaculate cottage is beautifully decorated and has all the amenities to make your time "at home" as enjoyable as your ventures throughout New Orleans and the interesting surronding areas. The cottage is large enough for 5 adults. Mark can tell you the entire almost 200 year history of the cottage, which makes your stay at the cottage a tourist attraction in itself. Free parking was always available right in front of the cottage. It's location between Frenchman's Street and the French quarter made walking to all the historic locations easy. We truly felt like we were "living like the locals" versus being tourists in this popular vacation spot.

Thanks again Mark and Ron for your exceptional hospitality!!
