| WOW! Perhaps our best vacation and yet our saddest vacation ever... the best from the moment we arrived and began to appreciate for ourselves the majesty of the Smoky Mountains and the beauty of Cool Change... and the saddest the morning we had to leave. What can we say that hasn't already been said to describe the beauty of Cool Change and it surroundings? It is truly a slice of heaven. It was a vacation where we felt no need to go places and do things in order to feel as though we were making the most of our time. In fact, on the occasion when we did venture out for sights and other adventures, we found ourselves wanting to go "home" to Cool Change because the views from there were better! Being at Cool Change was simple, satisfying and refreshing in so many ways. The joy of reading a book or working on a puzzle or simply relaxing in the comfy recliner with the sound of the wind chimes ringing lightly in the background was revitalizing. We purchased a new camcorder just prior to visiting Cool Change and with it we were able to get some time lapse footage of the Smoky Mountains from the vantage point of the balcony off the Master Bedroom. It’s nothing short of amazing with a magnificent sunrise that particular day followed by a stunning display of mountain clouds rolling along throughout the day to the twilight and into darkness. Simply breathtaking! God was truly showing off that day! Since it's unlikely that Michael and Mary will part with their wonderful home, we've decided that at some point we will have to find a way to become their neighbors :-) (Actually, we're not kidding.) What a treasure, and like so many others that have visited, we can't wait to go back. Thank you Michael and Mary for sharing your beautiful home with us. |

We have just returned from our Labor Day
trip to Cool Change and we wish we were
still there. The home is great and the
owner was very easy to deal with. The
pictures give a very accurate view of
the home and the great views.
The kitchen is well stocked and the game
room in the basement is an added bonus.
Everything needed except food and drink
is provided.
The home is at the bottom of the drive
for privacy, but there are other homes
nearby with friendly owners a short walk
away.
Our dog enjoyed the numerous trails on
the mountain and meeting other dogs on
the mountain. Walking the dog was easy
with virtually no vehicle traffic on the
roads.
We looked very hard and long for a great
place to stay in the mountains. I think
you will be very happy with your stay
here. We always looked forward to
returning back to the chalet after a
busy day exploring North Carolina. |

Our family has lived in the Murphy area for several generations. I was raised in the Hiwassee Dam community so, I consider myself to be fairly knowledgable about the things that make this area so enticing. As a child, growing up in Murphy, I often took the scenic beauty for granted. Until I traveled elsewhere in my early 20's, I didn't realize what a true paradise the mountains of WNC are. I am really proud to call it my "hometown".
Cool Change is the perfect place to experience the Western North Carolina mountains. The owners have done a fabulous job of leaving the land surrounding the property pristine and untouched. The views are spectacular. The home is secluded and quiet yet close to town.
Since moving to Atlanta in 1996, my husband and I have made many trips to visit family in Murphy. We've stayed in various rental cabins/hotels over the past few years. None have compared to Cool Change.
This is an outstanding vacation value. It is well-stocked, clean, well-kept, and the owners are a dream to deal with.
We will continue to rent Cool Change until the day arrives when we build our own little piece of Heaven on our family plot.
I am sure no matter what area of the globe you are traveling from, Cool Change and the Murphy, NC area will attach itself to your heart. You'll be "hooked".

Our stay at Cool Change was v. restful. The 1st week in April yielded temps ranging between high 70's to 2 mornings in the 20's. If we had not needed to leave a day early, we would've seen snow which is a big deal if one lives in South FL!
The night sky after passage of a cold front was breathtaking. There were so many more stars than we see at home that familiar constellations were hard to pick out. We never tired of simply watching the cloud shadows & ever-changing shades of colors on neighboring slopes.
Before the week was out there had been 4 generations visiting incl. a new grandson. Thanx to Mike & Mary for sharing their piece of heaven. If I can manage to pick 6 good numbers (how hard could it be?) in this week's Lotto, I plan on making the Dedman's a generous offer so we NEVER have to leave Cool Change. |

| We arrived on a Wednesday night (great driving directions provided) and when we awoke the next morning it was to 3.5 inches of snow. It was truly a wonderland view and a great opportunity to snuggle in front of the fireplace. We spent a lot of time at the cabin, which is most conveniently designed, but did wander out to the surrounding country for some scenic drives. We found a road (Joe Brown highway) that went from Murphy to Tellico Plains. Part of the road is gravel but saw some wonderful scenery and then in Tellico we traveled the Cherohala Skyway over to Robbinsville and then back to Murphy. The Cherohala is as pretty as any drive in this country. We loved everything about our week at Cool Change and will definitely plan a return trip. |

What a wonderful place to vacation! The house and surrounding
area is absolutley beautiful. I'd love to come back in the summer for white
water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, etc. Despite our laziness induced by
the cooler weather, we had a great time at Cool Change. Just a few of the
things I loved: spending time in front of the fireplace, trying out new recipes
in the kitchen, reading a good book over coffee in the window seat every
morning, the gorgeous views, the unbelievable sunrise & sunset, the friendly
people in town, the little shops in town, scenic driving, Shoebooties (dinner
and live music on Friday night)... I could go on forever :-) After a delayed
honeymoon and 5 months of extreme stress, this was EXACTLY what we needed to regain
our sanity. Thank you for making our stay wonderful, the experience easy, and
the house so cozy.

| What a beautiful site and wonderful creation that was made by God. The view was breath taking. The house was so well equiped that the only thing we were missing was someone to cook our meals and I'm sure if we had asked the Dedman's would have supplied that also. We started a fire every night in the fireplace even when it got a little warmer outside. Mary supplied local brochures for siteseeing or one day trips which made it very easy to get around. Thank you Mary and Michael you very blessed for having a home so close to OUR GOD. |

I wanted to let you know that the cabin was absolutely wonderful. The kids had so much fun and so did the grown-ups! We even got to see some snow flurries Friday nite! The kids were happy!
Also, there must be something really magical with your place, because my boyfriend proposed to me. He convinced me to go on a second hike down to the creek, which I did reluctantly because I was POOPED from the first trip! After exploring a little, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! What a romantic place! Thank you so much! We will definitely be back! |

We had a great time at Cool Change, very relaxing. My son and I really enjoyed gazing at the stars in the evening and I enjoyed waking up to a lovely mountain view from the master bedroom. Everything was perfect and the themed decor was a very nice touch to this lovely home. I would recommend you come check it out to just get away from it all or visit one of the many local attractions, we will definitely be back for a stay at Cool Change.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know what a great time we had at Cool Change over the past week. We did some rafting, some tubing walked many trails and visited some really nice state parks. Cool Change is really a slice of Heaven. Not only are the views fantastic but the house has

We truly enjoyed our short stay at Cool Change. Words cannot describe the view! The cabin is gorgeous and the setting is beautiful. We especially enjoyed our morning hikes down to the creek after watching the sunrise from the master bedroom. The pool table and ping pong table were a lot of fun. There really is something for everyone here.

| As a N.C. native I have been fortunate enough to have visited most of the state's mountain region. This is by far my favorite.Most places I have stayed I had to leave the house to know I was in the mountains. NOT HERE. The beauty is right outside the windows! What an awesome, peaceful view! | “Cool Change” is a lovely chalet with fantastic views and privacy. It is a wonderful place to relax. The chalet is nicely decorated and very clean. The screened deck area is a great place to have your meals, especially breakfast. We had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay. We plan to return to “Cool Change” next summer. | The house was beautiful and the view breath taking. The house really left nothing to be desired. The teenagers and adults really enjoyed the ping pong. The teenagers also enjoyed exploring the creek. They saw a deer on one of thier adventure walks and lots of tracks. The house was close enough into town to not be inconvenient.
