We just returned from a week in Rome. The apartment at Palazzo Del Grillo was all that was promised, and more than expected. My husband and I were there with our adult daughter and her teenaged daughter. There was plenty of space for all of us, without getting on each other's nerves by being too close together all the time.

Location, location, location! In the week we were there we saw most of Rome's major sights, and did not use public transportation once. Everything was within easy walking distance.

The apartment was stunningingly beautiful, and very clean. Enzo and his representative were very helpful. The entire experience was wonderful.
If you go, try the little restaurant right there in the square, Mario's. It's friendly, and feels very much like a place the locals would go to.

We stayed there with another couple in late September. It’s a nice large two bedroom apartment set up well for two couples or a large family. The bedrooms and baths are located on opposite ends of the apartment. Nice kitchen with a full size fridge. Big common areas with lots of room to spread out. Also appreciated was the lift (for those heavy bags!). No street noise.
It’s located conveniently for most sites and within 5 mins of the Metro.
Booking process was simple with Enzo who was good to communicate with and his agent, Teresa, was very nice and available when needed. Overall a great experience.

Highly recommend this apartment. Feel free to e-mail me with questions.

The apartment was perfect for our needs. Its location is fantastic. We were able to walk to the forum and the colosseum in 5 minutes and about 15 minutes to the Pantheon. The apartment was clean and very well maintained. Teresa was great, and the whole process of making the reservation very easy. If we return to Rome, this will be the first place we check on for availabilty. We couldn't have asked for a better location or nicer apartment to stay in.

I loved the apartment. I am a small business owner and the high speed internet helped me keep up with e-mails and other business related items.
Apartment was centrally located and you can walk to the Coliseum, Forum restaurants, and taxi stand. In fact, the one across the alley was very good.

Would definitely use it again when I go back, and pricing is low compared to local hotels.

Dealing with property owner's local representative was easy. Thanks Enzo.

Our family of five had a wonderful stay in this beautiful and spacious apartment. It is conveniently located to numerous historical and religious sites as well as many wonderful restaurants. If we go back to Rome, we would definitely rent this apartment again!

The apartment at Piazza Del Grillo was wonderful. Communication with Enzo during the reservation process was efficient and timely. Teresa, the Rome representative, was courteous, attentive and extremely helpful upon our arrival. The apartment is airy, spacious, well-maintained and in the most perfect location. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and look forward to staying there again. Many thanks, Aviva and Harry Atlanta

I have been in the apartment for the first time in january 2007 and liked it so much that I came back with my family in may 2008. The apartment and the location are great. We had a very pleasant stay. Thanks to Enzo and Teresa!

We stayed 4 nights, the apartment is very clean and spacious. The kids could have their own room (which made everyone happier) and the location was great for sightseeing, we probably walked past the Colosseum a dozen times. The Rome metro, such as it is, is easily reached in a short walk either at Colosseo or Cavour and the kids have already spotted the Palazzo del Grillo in the background of a History Channel show on Rome.

Enzo and Teresa were wonderful and
communication during the reservation process was
great. The apartment is, like others have said so
well, great. Plenty of room to hang out and all
modern conveniences available. The location is
fantastic. We walked to nearly all major tourist
attractions and the local restaurants were delicious.
La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali was absolutely divine.
The wine and the food were fantastic. We travelled
with our young son and the chef/owner and waiters
doted on him. Another place we loved was Enoteca
Corsi near Piazza Navona (Via Del Gesu 88). Open
for lunch only the place is busy with local people.
On our first visit we had steamed meatballs and
mushed potatoes, minestroni soup and burgundy
wine. Fantastic. All in all we had a great trip to
Rome and we would definitely stay at Enzo's place
again. Grazie mille, Enzo and Teresa!!!

Great apartment, ideally situated for all of the major attractions of Rome. It was more of a home than a holiday let and our kids certainly enjoyed the taste of Roman living. We will be sure to return there soon.

Dear Enzo,

We only stayed three nights in your Rome apartment, but wish it could have been much longer. It was ideal in every way - great location, spacious and well equipped; a perfect base of operation for our "family reunion". Some of our family members stayed at the Forum Hotel, only a short walk away. We will certainly recommend it to our traveling friends and hope to return soon.

Dear Enzo,
Your apartment in Rome was very comfortable and very spacious and it was all that you had described. We throughly enjoyed our stay and it was a pleasure to return 'home' after a long day of sightseeing.
The apartment is very centrally located and in spite of being in such a busy city it was also relaxing and quiet. We will certainly recommend it to any of our friends.
We did not have the pleasure of meeting you, but Signora Teresa was very efficient, helpful and friendly.
Arrivederci!

Perfectly placed if you want to be in the centre and experience the history of Rome.
There was adequate room for 6 of us - the apartment is spacious and has the benefit of 2 toilets and showers.
2 sets of keys were a definite advantage.
We were given plenty of assistance and information from the owner and his representative in Rome.

The apartment is as advertised- clean, spacious, in
a perfect location for sight-seeing, and felt very
safe and secure.

Frankly, I can't imagine why anyone would rent a
hotel room in Rome when something like this is
available (aside from room service I suppose).

The only thing we had to futz with was the air
conditioning units- they could only run 3-4 hours
before having to have their trays emptied. Since my
wife likes a cold room at night, that precluded
sleeping uninterrupted through the night (if we
didn't want a mini-flood). But not everyone will
have an issue with that, especially in winter, and
most people would probably be just as happy with
the windows open at night in warm weather.

Overall, very highly recommended and we'd stay
there again!

We stayed at this apartment for a week in August 2007 with our family of four. The apartment was very comfortable and spacious and the location was perfect. Both the owner, whom we did not meet personally, and his representative in Rome (Ms. Teresa) were reliable, friendly and helpful.

If we have the occasion to return to Rome, we would most definitely consider renting this apartment again. The apartment has everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Rome. The well-equipped kitchen and large dining area made us wish that we cooked more meals in the apartment, but we were so busy sight-seeing that we did not take the time to relax and enjoy many meals "at home." We also enjoyed borrowing the many travel books in the apartment during our stay. We travel light and did not have any travel books of our own to consult during our trip, so it was very useful to have those at hand.

We highly recommend this apartment especially for longer stays, as it is very large and comfortable. We are now interested in exploring some of the other properties the owner has to offer in other cities.

Palazzo Del Grillo

We loved this apartment. In mid July, my wife and I took our three young kids to Italy and decided to try an apartment. We were nervous about what we might have gotten ourselves into but once we saw the place, we knew we did “good…”

It is located in a great little neighborhood near restaurants, shops and the coliseum. It is smack in the middle of some ancient ruins which provide great views outside every window. What we really liked was how big it was. After a long day of touring, we could go back and truly hang out to rest. The kids would be in the living room and we would have wine and cheese (bought from the local market down the street) in the dinning room. Yes, they are all these different rooms. Our friends who traveled with us, stayed in a nearby hotel with their two kids. They paid about the same but were in a shoebox size, single room. They found themselves hanging out at our apartment all the time.

Paying by PayPal was easy and efficient. The owner’s representative met us on time at the apartment and was very helpful in getting us situated. The neighborhood is full of diplomats. We realized why at the end of our trip – the Italian President’s residence is just up the street. Worth taking a walk to see.

We highly recommend the apartment for anyone traveling to Rome. We tell everyone our trip to Italy worked out so well because we had a great place to stay.

We loved Palazzo del Grillo! It is a beautiful, spacious, very well appointed and comfortable apartment, with 2 beautiful bathrooms, full modern kitchen, 2 large bedrooms and full size dining room. The owner's representative, Teresa, was extremely accommodating and helpful, and the apartment was spotless when we checked in. We highly recommend dinner at La Piazzetta on via Frangipane for the wonderfully fresh pasta, the dessert smorgasbord and friendly waitstaff! We had a great stay and would return to Palazzo del Grillo in a hearbeat!

We spent three fantastic weeks here in April/May
my husband & I and friends
The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the
apartment from each other
with one bathroom ensuite the other next to the
second bedroom which meant that
no-one was disturbed if anyone went to bed early
or late
Having a lift in the building was great too
The location was the main attraction however ~
cheek by jowl with the antiquities
ancient structures or elegant Palazzi through every
window on three sides of the building
La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali (Via Madonna dei
Monti, 16) just round the corner
became our absolute favourite restaurant, very
friendly staff & great food. Try the porcetta, yum.

Palazzo Del Grillo is absolutely the best value in all of Italy! I have traveled to Rome before, and believe me, there could not be a more central location. We walked to all major venues. The accommodations are absolutely splendid! A huge dining room, separate "great room" for relaxing together, full kitchen with everything! Each bedroom has a full bath with all the room you would expect. I recommend this flat with absolutely no reservations. I will return here on my next visit!

Beautiful apartment. Nice furnishings in good condition, and clean. There was plenty of space for all of us (2 parents plus 3 kids). It was a nice respite from the July heat and crowds of Rome. The location is very convenient to the Colosseum and Roman forum. Many other sites are also in walking distance and a bus that takes you to the Vatican is just a block or two away. The narrow street in front of the apartment building can be busy at times, so be careful.

Unlike the previous comment, we thought the restaurant across the street (Mario's) was OK. We went there for dinner twice because we could send the kids back across the street to the apartment to hang out when they got bored after dinner while my husband and I could linger over a bottle of wine.

This apartment is beautiful, spacious and well appointed. It was a delightfully tranquil refuge from the heat and bustle of Rome in July. Francesca, from the boutique, was very helpful whenever we needed advice (e.g., taxis). The beautiful website pictures do not lie! In the neighbourhood, there are many good places to buy food for self-catering and many good places to eat. But be careful! Avoid the HORRIBLE "Mario's" restaurant nearby. We, poor wretches, had no choice on the night it was bucketing down and we had no umbrellas. Do go to Il Gelatone (delicious and reasonably priced ice creams) many times and Enoteca Al Vino al Vino (wines, sausage, cheese etc. as a pleasant light meal). Both are on via dei Serpenti. The Despar supermarket on via Nazionale was extremely well-stocked. If you don't know how to use a moka, learn! The best start to the day is your own coffee. Al Giubileo (via del Boschetto) had wonderful pastas and pizzas at reasonable prices, as well as a front row seat for the World Cup 2006 Germany versus France on the big screen TV! Don't miss the coffee granita with cream at la Tazza d'Oro, close to the Pantheon. You'll think you've died and gone to heaven. And, if you can find an Illy coffee bar, you can indulge (as we did!) as often as possible in refreshing cold coffee drinks of many types. Thanks to Enzo for a most enjoyable stay.

"Great location! Quiet apartment (for Rome)surrounded by the Imperial Forum. Easy walk to cafes, Metro stations (either Cavour or Colosseo)and all the sites of ancient Rome. Large and clean with abundant amenities for a family (e.g., wash machine/dryer, two bathrooms w/showers, plenty of towels and nearby super markets). More than enough room for our family of five - 2 adults and three children ages 7, 11, and 15. Large family room to relax in after the day's touring is complete. Enzo was easy to work with and his on-site representatives were very helpful. Will stay again on our next trip to Rome!"

I stayed in the apartment in Palazzo Grillo at the
end of May/beginning of June 2006. The location is
fantastic--very close to the historical areas of the
Forum, Colosseum, and Palatine hill, yet tucked
away from the major traffic. (There was some
tourist foot traffic by the palazzo while I was there,
but I suspect that was due to the construction of
viewing stands on the Via dei Fori Imperiali for the
parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the
Republic, which caused the Via to be closed
periodically for a few days.) It is within walking
distance of the vast majority of sites, and there are
many bus stops and two metro stops close by. The
apartment itself is huge and beautlfully furnished.
As someone who loves to cook, I really appreciated
the well-equipped kitchen. If you read Italian you
are in luck, as there are hundreds of books in the
apartment, including some beautiful art books.
There were some very warm days in May, but the
apartment was always wonderfully cool when I
returned. In short, I loved it, and look forward to
staying there again.

Dear Enzo, We had a wonderful experience renting the apartment in Rome. It has the ultimate location and we and our college son were able to walk to most of the historical sites in Rome including the Colosseum, Pantheon, Roman Forum, via Veneto, Capitoline Museums, Piazza Navona, and others. We were able to walk to the taxi stand, restaurants, supermarkets, and stores. We felt that we were living amidst the history of Rome and amidst the Italian culture. The apartment is beautiful and well furnished and equipped and we highly recommend it to others. We also felt very safe. We can't wait to return. Diane, David and Colin Clarke

We enjoyed the views from your apartment and the CD player. We had a great lunch across the street when we arrived and found your place to be within walking distance of all the areas we wanted to see and explore. We liked the fact that your apt was very quiet without lots of noise at night or in the early morning so we were able to sleep in late. We would love to come back and hope we can find time for another trip to Rome. It was great to look out at the ruins from the windows of the first bedroom and also from the kitchen. I loved the lights at night on the Forum. I would definitely recommend your apt to my friends and hope we can stay next time. Thanks Jackie
